Ah hell, I only have Balham Hill left as it is.

I will be commuting from Balham to Kew Bridge so shouldn't bother you at all :D

Yes but you are a deviant from the straight line in search of new segments as we know ;)
  • So the phone worked today but failed to pick up any of the segments where I put effort in, namely the ones my missus blitzed this morning (on her winter hack no less) and set faster times than my PBs. It's clearly a recurring theme, not picking up those particular segments. Must only record properly when I'm going slow.

    Good skills!

I'm not sure I like TB as the options to get from Tower Hill to my work aren't that great. Nonetheless - I shall have to give it the odd go and see if I can move up a few places. I reckon I've got a few more MPH in me on a good day...

Can I combine that into my route home ;)
  • Oh yeah went across there once on the way to my Dad's, might have to pop in and see him again soon!
  • Blitzed Millbank South last night, kept it above 30 all the way and frustratingly missed out on a KoM by a second, yet my performance graph shows really odd/low speeds over the segment. Bizarre.

Quit the whinging and get a proper GPS computer. All the posts I see from you on this thread are "I blitzed the ride but Strava/iPhone/my finger broke and didn't record the ride." :P

MTFU and spend the cash. Then you can play the game properly

  • Wrath Rob, tell you what, I'll buy a decent computer when you put in a decent turn of pace and return to the leaderboards.

In all seriousness there seems to be quite a few oddities with Strava recording across all devices, not just the phones. The shorter segments seem to be particularly affected. Besides the device sometimes not picking up accurately (a function of having the phone in a jersey pocket vs a computer on the handlebars perhaps) I quite like the integration and immediate upload that I get with the phone version that saves having to faff around connecting to a computer and download rides etc.

That is some effort, I remember trying for that one last week, was up at 34 mph, then had to slow down two or three times because of traffic. Really hits your average!

I'll be doing this from monday, so looking forward to some favourable winds to have a crack at them.

I notice that you only put in effort for that sprint keyser as the average for the ride was quite low?

It's one of the few places where the road is wide and clear enough to be safe to put the hammer down without any traffic lights to scupper you, although as others will testify you have to frequently abort what feels like a good run because of traffic or cyclists overtaking other cyclists. Rest of the ride was a slow average due to bad traffic all the way along the Highway and down to Parliament then it was chocka most of the way from Chelsea Bridge through to Sheen - lots of spinning up to speed then straight back down again and a very saw-tooth profile on the speed graph.

Look forward to seeing some other good times on Strava from you okgo. A current lack of MTFU from most of the west London SCR club (myself included) has resulted in a fair few of the segment podium positions currently being occupied by a girl this week. That being said Tom Taylor Matthews (what's his forum usename?) has been setting some blistering times.

Me too. I think I can put in some decent times. I'd like a KOM or two, I got one the other day, but tbh its not a place where people seem to push it otherwise no doubt I'd be pounded into a firm second by Steve Irwin or someone similar.

I'll be on the road as of monday.

The tempation to get a TT bike and do the commute route at 4 am is overwhelming just to see the KOM carnage the next morning haha.

This comment is the only benefit I see of my new job (starting in a few weeks) meaning I need to set off at 6am!

I didn't say that! I'm too lazy to even contemplate getting out of bed that early.

Rob, how do you get the stats for a particular time period?

Chaps, what is this? "Hotting up", "quality through the roof""?! Don't worry, it was a rare trip to Embankment for me, I won't be back for the foreseeable future!

Pleasantly surprised to get a few podiums there to be honest, and a weekly KOM? Shame I can't make it a regular diversion but it really is miles out of the way for me. Saying that, I'll need to log some additional miles for this Rapha challenge thing (250 miles in 5 days  ) so maybe, just maybe...

Well it was pretty easy to get higher up the list when the list was much much smaller. To even make an appearance requires a dose of MTFU

I think he was commenting about the appearance of the CB to VB K(or rather Q)oM this week. Certainly an improvement on the looks of Andre :)

Hello all. So this is where all the action is! I'm a recent convert to the Embankment race-track after years chugging it up the Kings Road. After a few weeks holding out, I can no longer resist the temptation of joining up with the SCR crew on Strava, although I think my commutes are just about to get that little bit more painful as a result. See you on the track.

Pick a segment, then change the group to Silly Commuter Racers and then change the period from "All Time" to "Last Week" and job done. The week re-sets every Monday so today was the first day of the week for Strava. Unfortunately you now can't access last week's, hence why JZed or I try and do the report over the weekend as Monday is too late.
