  • Did the Loampit route again today. Think I'll have to give up on the idea of a decent attack on the hill itself for the time being, traffic seems pretty horrendous atm. Got stuck at the lights halfway up today - and you're right about the bike lane Puff, 3 or 4 big vehicles were halfway into it. Just what you need when climbing.

Sandford was more of a fast lope than a sprint , but improved my time there. With a proper attack I think I'd take the KOM as things stand but if someone properly quick has a go there they'll put 10 secs on the current no 1 time I should think.

I'm off to Ireland this weekend, so drove home last night and it was a nightmare - hour and a half to get home, stuck on the A13, grrrr. 45 minutes this morning as well, I hate it when I have to drive. I won't be back on my bike until Tuesday evening (sob :( ) but will try and get some riding done in Ireland though I have yet to build the trails LOL

Did a practice commute today, had a crack at a few of the segments on the way back, reckon Putney bridge should be doable, need to learn where the others start and begin!

Did get a KOM from rohampton gate via pens ponds to Kingston gate though.

    ;)

Be scared jzed and keyser, im coming for you :)

KevEss - I have had that happen to me on a brutal ride home with amazing green lights. Brutal.

What I do is, press start, then stop 1 sec later and end ride (i.e upload). Regardless of what it says (ride ok, no data saved), the next time you press start it will work fine.
Then just delete the 1 second ride when you get home/into work. Not ideal, but better than losing one where you thought you had done well

I did notice, but only because he's targeting the lower echelons first before gunning for me. Personally I think its okgo that's worried as he's having to do practice commutes at lightly traffic timed yet he's still not getting KoMs  ;)

Really annoying me now, last 10 rides haven't uploaded properly and on the iPhone it says they havnt synced with strava! Gps is working fine as I use cyclemeter at the same time with no issues.

Sounds similar to your problem kev!

  • Yeah, it's the famous Upper Elmers End Road cliff. The only way up is to approach at 50+mph.

Edit: not sure how everyone from 7th down got up there :?

Just looking at my times for the week, and it says "2nd fastest time on Chelsea Embankment: Royal Hospital Lights to Chelsea Bridge Lights"

Does this mean 2nd fastest for me, or 2nd fastest for the day, or even 2nd fastest for the day so far?

(certainly not 2nd fastest overall, as I know it says overall when that miracle occurs)
  • It's your second-fastest ever time on that segment.
  • Went over Tower Bridge this morning for the first time to avoid the roadworks chaos on Tooley St. By gum that's a long and lonesome road. As bleak and windswept as the Mongolian steppe. Nice view of the Gherkin and other big city buildings though, in fairness.

Not sure it's worth my while going that way, the traffic on Lower Thames St looked horrendous (loads of tipper trucks and other large vehicles), with no safe gaps for filtering that I could see, so I went up via Great Tower St and Eastcheap instead, which wasn't much better.

Hmmm, dunno - I'll give it another couple of days and see what I think. Felt generally weak as a kitten today for some reason - I hadn't had breakfast as no time but that doesn't normally affect me too much - and had a generally annoying commute, so maybe that's giving me a jaundiced view.

New PB on chelsea embankment. Capitalised on a van going passed and managed to bust a nut to get behind it. Annoyingly there was quite a lot of traffic at the next set of lights, so I don't know if that slowed me down as I dont know "exactly" how long that segment is.

Annoyingly that puts me at 26th, so just off page 1 for all time.
  • Goddamnit, Strava failed to record my last two rides. Both stormers naturally :(

What, like one that reports 44mph average up the Col du Chutney Mary? :P

Haha I had seen those scores. I'd love to have seen the lady (I think from the name) fly off the top at 103km/h

I need to replan my strategy for that hill, I always come from Lots road then HAMMER it when the lights change and turn left. Would be interesting to hit it from NKR with a green light and no traffic.

I'd also like to have words with whoever thought "du and la" could go together. I can hear my French teacher turn in his grave!
  • ARGGGGHHHHHHH - was having a couple of beers at LookMumGiveMeABeer and figured my later than usual commute time was perfect for KOM bagging on strava. Smashed it down the Mall then got to the stage of tasting blood in my mouth heading up Putney Hill. Excitedly log in to see what was what and evidently i hadn't pressed the start button before i put the phone back in my pocket!

Luckily this sort of thing does bother me.................. ARGGGGGGHHHHHHH

    Oh great.

Checked into Strava last night . . .

I have discovered a whole new world of arbitrary self imposed beastings.......

Feck me ragged - there was a time when all you had to do was worry about people you could see and plan your ride accordingly... I'm now in the middle (cough) front of a virtual pack and have replaced lactose for lactic in my porridge.

    Whose fecking idea was this......
Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

    What would Thora Hurd do?
  • I'm sooooo over Strava these days...
