This morning's frustrating ride has now become less frustrating. 5th all time on Millbank N, fastest this week and only 2 seconds behind a certain Andre Greipel in 3rd.?

It certainly looked quick. In just trying to latch on as you buzzed past I've clocked 11th all time. JDS around and quick too it seems

@Wrath Ron look again - I may have been on the ropes last night, but I wasn't out for the count - the Gorilla is back - 2 seconds faster than you. Frustrating

I took it easy through there today as there were a couple of buses messing around which stopped play. Tomorrow will be another day

It would appear the pro version give you a "Suffer Score" based on heart rate for the ride. My best is 55. Which seems naff. Must try harder.

I'm trying to work out how I'm going to knock 11 seconds off to compete with the leader. 36mph average along there - that just sounds mental. I'd say it was a scooter or car but theres a heart rate monitor used. Even with hitting the lights perfectly and having high 20's would only save 3-4 seconds.

Pace car, clear road and a good draft? Maybe the person did it late at night when the road where clear and drafted a coach of something doing 40mph.

It was a Wheeler wasn't it? I noticed that time was posted at ~6:30am. Still a bloody impressive time though. He must have got a good run on the VB lights...

I've just added segments for all of the CS7 from Collierswood to E&C split in to manageable segments. e.g. Tooting Broadway to Tooting Bec, Tooting Bec to Balham etc etc.

Now going back through my times compared to other, I'm utterly depressed. I thought I was doing well, I rarely get scalped on the CS7 but I'm not even top 10 and a good few MPH down.

Time to lose weight and MTFU.

Lucky draft is my guess chaps. If you hit that sweet one - your best time is sorted.

Got 150 for a sportive and that was a painful experience but having issues seeing how you'd get over 200 and still be alive.

Are you trying to kill us? FFS it's bad enough with Balham Hill (which didn't seem to register for me this morning....) and Millbank! The last thing I need now is segments on CS7 - my legs will be shot to sh!t!!

Joint 9th on Millbank N-Bound and fairly sure I could knock a second or 2 off to move up a place or two ;-)

You havent created them on the way back as well have you? At the end of CS7 I have about another 8 miles all uphill. I will never get home if I am trying to hard all the way down from E and C! I do have a back route over the commons which could be getting used when the legs dont feel upto being tracked!

No as I don't normally ride that way home. I did last night though so I could........

  • whats interesting is that out of london/SE strava is hardly used, I've put a few segments around my folks place in wales and even though there has been a real boom in cycling around that area only one segment has any one else on it.

in fact if I search for rides close by I mostly find Kingston wheelers and SCR when they have been down for sportives and so on.

Clearly that's because all the uber-competitive tech savvy nutjobs live near and work in London....

I wouldn't lose sleep over Strava fella, it's not exactly a fair comparison if you account for traffic, changes in weather etc! If you really wanted to separate peeps you'd need to be a tad more scientific about it (i.e. all ride the same route at the the same time on the same day etc). Good to get the competitive juices flowing, but not for much else.

I got a 268 (thanks for the code Sketchley) for a sportive that i paced myself ok on, so no idea how that works.

Agree with this - I take any segment including traffic lights with a pinch of salt. There are 3 or 4 segments on my commute where you can actually get a clear traffic run - all climbs, 2 pretty much sprints (a minute or so) and the other 2 a bit longer (3 minutes or so). These are where Strava comes into its own for me, the other bits are just starting to annoy me (e.g. I cannot conceive of ever getting a clear run over London Bridge in either direction, esecially northbound in the morning... )

I'm glad nobody else goes my way. Even with racing myself it brings out my inner idiot and if I think about it to much it could lead to me not leaving myself or others enough room.
I only use it occasionally if the mood takes me. The biggest influence on time for me is heavy traffic at this end, followed by dog walkers in Bushy Park and the number of people trying to get around Kingston.
It's a bit of fun and interesting to see relative times. If I go round Richmond Park I will just be shown up. I'll still have a go though.
  • Crap! Someone who's actually fast came along and beat my best sections!

Bit nervous about this mornings ride as I had some un-ridden (with Strava that is) sections as I headed up towards St Pauls.
Synced the ride when I got in and there where no new segments to take part in!!

As such I felt duty bound to create a Southwark Bridge N-Bound sprint :-D

Will probably create the S-Bound this evening....
