From his cycling notes he was on 79" fixed & from the route it looks like he turned specifically to get the bus stop in ^_^

Double ar$e. Looking back on the helmet cam footage for the Balham Hill segment this morning I was on for an approx 30-35 second segment which would have put me inside the top 10 :-( This has done nothing to improve my mood......

I did it 3 times and got bored, 40 is silly.

Thought since my 125cc scooter is back on the road I would campare how I get on with it. Didnt manage to break any of my segment best times and was no quicker on my way in this morning. Bit of a waste of time and money getting it sorted!

1200cc and 150bhp was not much quicker than a push bike when I tried it as a comparison. That's on a comparatively traffic free route. Riding into town it would probably be worse. It might help if you're willing to ride like a complete tool though.

I didn't realise there was a 'from the bus stop' segment, being a Strava newbie. I just did a u-turn at the side road down there rather than turning straight off Chester Rd, as I wanted a few metres of 'rolling contemplation' to get my head together.

Good race-pace overgeared effort - I needed to get one in my system before doing the Bec HC next weekend. I'm not inclined to train properly like I did years ago, but Sunday's Swains has hopefully prepared me for the shock…

I'll go back and do it on a more appropriate gear at some point - lay down a proper time ;)

Right this app has shown me I'm rubish. Off to sulk with a single malt.

  • @willy b - I won't bother, as I'm not really doing forums at the moment, and it'll all be on Strava anyway now.

In case you're interested, I did a 1m58 from the bus stop for RLPLZ's Xmas climb a few years back, but was drastically undergeared on 59" to make it interesting for the rest of the competitors. My old rep training benchmark was from the Zebra Crossing to the Osteopath's at the very top in 2min, giving up once the reps took longer than 2m15. That was always on 39x15 fixed. I'm too old for all that sh1t now. Thankfully.

@Wrath Ron what did you do to your 800 - coincidently mine has stopped working at the loading maps too. Tried a hard reset and no joy.

EDIT: Arrrggghhhh fecking Garmin - can't get it into storage mode to access the files. AND I reckon I had a cracking Millbank North section too. Managed to hold 30+ all the way up from the Morpeth to the crossing. Bummer.

What was with the traffic today? Awful awful awful. Ruined my attempts at Strava world domination...

@Andre: When I connected it to the PC I was able to copy all of the FIT files and courses to my PC and then delete them from the Garmin. Next time I started it up it worked but then took ages to get a satellite lock. I didn't start my ride until it had got the lock and its been find since then. BTW, holding north of 30 from the Morpeth to the crossing by the Tate is really nothing to brag about

Traffic was apparently backed up from Blackwall Tunnel. Glad I was on a bike. My problem was the red lights I hit. Every single one from BB to VB

I can't get into the Garmin as it it won't go into the computer hook up mode. My option 2 of getting the hammer and smashing it to pieces is very closely becoming option number 1. Now where did I put my hammer.

Bragging - I don't need to brag - its all in the stats....

Don't think i'll be attacking the top times yet, but just recorded data for my 1st commute.

Made it onto page 1 for one of the segments.

I was weaving round static traffic most of the way, very frustrating. I still haven't managed to get a clean run at London Bridge northbound, today was the worst yet, I probably need to come in stupidly early one day but that's not really my style!

Not intentionally, but I did put the power down trying get a good segment just there.
I got helded up at the ped crossing at the bottom, I could go quicker.

Also just upgraded to pro for free for three months with the following code vamoscycling2011 didn't ask for any CC details.

Oooh I was 1.6 mph quicker than JZed on the Milbank sprint last night #result

Only thing I've found is rankings by age and weight. Although JZed is in same weight class as me which seems a little unfair. Is he really over 200lbs?

200lbs is only 14.3 stone, would imagine he puts away that much beer on a Friday

I'm about 12.5-13 stone and having met him, he is chunkier than me so I would say 200lb would be fair!

235lb at the moment - seem to be putting weight on rather than loosing it.

Millbank sprint didn't happen for me last night - gears were skipping, brake was rubbing, rear skewer wasn't tightened. Happy with the 18.8mph average into a headwind.

Now if only my garmin hadn't naffed up this morning I reckon I'd have had a good time for the Millbank.
