Some fecker only went out yesterday at stole one of my few KOM's the bleeding cheek of it, not only that but they nailed it, 26 mph over my 24.5 which has stood for a long time, well I couldnt let that lie now could I especially as i'd booked today off work
27.5 mph 'ave it
Now to go back out and hunt down this feckers KOM's - i smell blood :twisted:Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Tour of Britain went along my commute on Wednesday. I lost one of my KOMs that had stood for a year or two, I went from 1st place to 21st. Managed to hold on to another one, though
Thing is, I know they were in a top-class peloton, but:
a) It was into a headwind - my attempts were 'slight' tailwinds
b) They didn't know exactly where each of the segments started and stopped - I think I knew the course to the millimeter.
and even more depressingly:
c) They were doing the same speeds for 140 miles that day and repeating it every day for a week where I was done almost exactly at the end of each segment.
Truly another breed.0 -

It's always done that though? I lose 0.5 - 1 mph on average, sometimes more if I'm caught at the lights a lot (this is with garmin).
It doesn't cope with stop /start traffic very well in my opinion...cyclemeter used to give me a higher average (akin to the garmin) as well0 -

Stupid question perhaps but i'll ask anyway
do you think people go out running especially for Strava segments?
Like walking or jogging to the start then going for it?
I of course do NOT run its ungentlemanly, however Mrs itboffin does and has been getting those "emails" but mentioned that someone who took the segment looked like they'd walked most of the route bar that segment.
could it be?Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Took the geared bike out to have a go at Keyser_Soze's KOM on my commute, a nice 1.5mi stretch with no lights.

Didn't manage it. 6th. About 5 seconds off 2nd. And Keyser is another 15 seconds clear of that. Balls.0 -

There's a 20mph speed limit and what seems to be a functioning speed camera, which makes me think there aren't many draft-assisted times up there.
Still, more work required.0 -

I set my time when it was clear - not a good segment for traffic along there as there are a couple of pinch points/stretches of parked cars where traffic slows down lots, plus a few bus stops and zebra crossings. Good times need a decent wind as it's still quite exposed close to the river. Still you've equaled my fourth fastest time along there, will have to either pull my socks up or 'cheat' and go at the weekend when it's dead"Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"

I'm not going to get close on the fixed gear, so any goes at pinching it is will be cheat efforts on the CX0 -
Just uploaded 8 Strava activities (commutes) and discovered I've got my one KOM back, by 5 seconds. You're not getting that one back quickly, Peter Hughes 8)
40km/h through Millfields Park is probably a bit cheeky though... :oops:0 -

a generous interpretation of London if the average ride is 16 miles and 200 metres of climbing.0 -
