I wouldn't usually be that happy with 76th overall on a segment, but then this one did have 30,670 people on it, including quite a few Pro riders.

I really should get out to Majorca, can't see me challenging the leaderboards but it sounds like great riding.0

Thought I was improving massively one night last week when I was top for the day on almost all of the segements on my way home, faster even than a guy on my route who has been consistently fast all through winter too.
Then I saw his suffer score was 28. Mine was in the 50s. I do about half a mile each way more than him, but I think my lowest suffer score ever was 29 and in the other directionSaracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

Did a ride that I hadn't ridden since summer 2014 - 100km, 90 segments, 79 little trophies, over half the segments PB. Not fast yet - but getting faster. The aim is to be able to do it solo before the end of the year in under 3 hours - need to shave off 13 mins which seems ambitious0

Anyone backed the new pebble? The core looks like it could be a good alternative Strava device.

Looks good that doesn't it. But tbf unless you're a big runner you're better off with an edge 25 imo and if you do run a lot you'll probably have one of the other garmin options

Not only that, but I expect it could provide similar functionality to Sherlock, which I backed recently

In that you could write an app that'd periodically report your location, then leave the Core in your saddlebag.0 -
Yeah I pondered the ability to use it as a spot tracker for people to see where you are on big rides. My wife got nervous when I did the Bryan Chapman as I was out of contact for so long (just because reception is poor in the wild lands of Wales). If she could see I was moving, however slowly, it would be great. The option to see what the cat has been up to while you've been at work would be fun too.
I suspect the battery life would make it less useful than Sherlock for an anti theft application though, Sherlock's is about a week while the Core is about a day (or a few hours if you're streaming music on it). Still, I like the way things are going.

Sherlock or Pebble 2?
I backed both, realised I'd been neglecting my tech budget recently0 -
Oh Pebble, I went for the Pebble 2 (not time) plus Core combo.- Genesis Croix de Fer

I went for Time 2 and Core combo. Might write an app* so that you can request your location and have the Core reply.

Quick question about strava. If you join a clubs stava group is there any way to hide your rides from going on the 'recent activity' feed? I've noticed that people in the group who have a private profile, still have all their rides show up on the recent activity feed. Even if you keep loading them beyond the date that the group was created.
I know you can mark individual rides as private, but that'd mean going back through your entire history.0 -

that's awesome!
why is it every KOM now where i live requires +27 MPH to win, it's very annoyingRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

what is with these new people that pop up take a hand full of KOMs in the middle of a 200 mile ride where they've averaged 10 mph then suddenly do +30mph over 4-5 KOMS with HR less than 90 bpm
or go from London to Switzerland at 100 mph in a straight line like this prick https://www.strava.com/activities/353653490Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

There are a few ways to cheat Strava. Digital EPO, is a common one ( juicemyride etc.). Logging a virtual ride, on a Turbo, using Zwift or Bkool or whatever, then changing it to an actual ride, is fairly common. Doing the Zwift thing, but attatching the recording roller to a washing machine / spin dryer motor, is quite common. Giving your log in details to various people, then having them log their rides, as you, is fairly common, for people wishing to cheat the mileage / climbing 'challenges'. A lot of people use E bikes, some people potter along on a motorcycle/ scooter, then open the taps, when they reach a segment which they want the KOM / QOM on. This is why Strava is a lot of old guff, and I only find it useful to give me ( fairly accurate IMO) calorie burn, and useful route plots, for when I'm doing British Cycling / Skyride route finding / planning.0 -
Just had a legit ride from back in 2014 flagged. Got a couple of KoMs on a segment there, guess the second-placed rider didn't like being second. I've got several other rides on those segments faster than the current second place, wonder if he's going to try flagging those too"Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"

Means you know where it starts. And helps keep the effort up when you see you're only 1 second behind PB. The opposite is the case if you see you are 10 seconds behind at halfway.0 -
I have an unbeatable categorised KOM - GPS was offset by a few hundred yards from the road. It's in the Dales and you probably wouldn't be able to replicate it even with a trials bike let alone beat the time as you'd probably have to ride up cliffs. Stravas stupid fault for automatically generating the segment in the first place!Faster than a tent.......0
