I seem to remember last year coming across a function whereby Strava would play out your ride against others who were on the road at the same time and show where you caught/lost them. If anyone could point me in the right direction would be a big help.
ThanksYou'll not see nothing like the mighty Quin.0 -

Millbank southbound 2015 KOMs are mine...for now.0

Who's good at picking out legit rides, I'm very impressed if someone held 34mph for over a mile, solo, in cold weather and after riding 37mph over a bridge!

Mind you, they took my KOM collected whilst drafting a delivery van, so maybe did the same0 -
Does look a bit weird that one. Total elapsed time is over 3 hours for the journey which is odd. The accelerations look fairly dramatic too (as in I count 8 accelerations to 30mph and beyond, 3 within 1 mile). Drawing no conclusions though, dunno the road or the ride or the conditions or anything.2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium

Looks fake to me but then I was looking at one of my rides from 2011 which had me holding 40+ mph for 5 miles.

Look at Joe Thompsons other rides - he's uber lame. Looks like a car journey. FLAG HIM!!!!!0 -
Looking a little bit more, it seems a lot of his previous stuff has been flagged too.2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium

LOL, most of his recent rides are at 10-12mph, think that's a 'left on in the car' job...0

That being said last year I had one of my best rides of the year flagged by someone I suspect because I beat a couple of their segments, far from kom top 1,2 or 3 at best but bloody good even if I say so myself and it wasn't like I hadn't been trying I'd hammered the same route a dozen times at least, I objected and emailed strava who agreed it was legit, yet it still remains flagged.
You can clearly see changes in pace across the whole 55 mile route.

Ha! First day back on the bike after a month-long lay-off with colds and general sickliness and I'm greeted by 17 KOMs in one morning commute!

Amusing ways to lose your KOMs, chapter 78:
Got my first ever “uh-oh” Strava email last weekend. It turns out my KOM had been taken by a guy on a ride I’d been invited to but couldn’t make, a bunch of former rowers. The guy who took it is a former world champion and Olympian rower, so I couldn’t be too surprised or upset.
I get the “anyone up for a ride” email again this week, so I cheekily reply “sorry can’t do it I’m rowing tomorrow, but guys, this time please desist from stealing my KOMs (AB please take note )”
AB then replied “Hahahaha I think my KOM may have resulted from when RF picked me up in his car as I had gone through two new tubes in a puncture fiasco... My apologies. I have no idea how I take myself off the KOM. Will email them”Dolan Titanium ADX 2016

Techie side here. Who uses garmin connect to autoupload and if you do - what date format does it load in as? When did you connect your gc to strava - can you remember at all. Are there any late comers to the strava game (q4 2014) who use the gc connection and it does UK dates?Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

My auto-upload rides are labelled with dates in UK format. Could it perhaps depend on the date/time formats set up in the either Garmin or the Garmin Connect app?0 -
Slight digression:
Why can't I display distance in miles, altitude in metres and temperature in celcius? Is that too much to ask?0 -
I have only been on it for a year so did not experience the glory days. I find it really useful to measure myself over set routes and compare against friends. I do wonder if they have a plan for dealing with the proliferation of segments in places such as London.0

To be fair, we seem to be uniquely confused when it comes to units..... That said, Bryton partly panders to us by allowing Celsius with imperial distances but I don't think it would allow metric and imperial for distance. I'd be tempted to say that wanting horizontal miles and vertical metres is a bit eccentric but then I can happily go with horizontal metres for short distance and miles for longer.
You wouldn't think it would be that hard to cater for random tastes.Faster than a tent.......0 -

If you contact them, they are good at replying. I emailed them a while ago suggesting a concept which has now been developed and called Flyby. They said at the time that it was a great idea and they would look into it.
Now it exists, so I am of course taking full credit.0 -

Is it strange to want celcius for low temps (sub 12) and farenheit for when it gets warmer (plus 74)... the gap in the middle is a mystery to me0 -
I emailed the query about a week ago. They didn't say it was a great idea; they implied I was mad and referred by to the forum. I suppose they have a point, but a sizeable proportion of the Strava user-base is British. Maybe I should write to Nigel.0
