And that brings up 1000km for September. The legs will appreciate a week off next week.

Close to a 27mph avg this morning for one short sharp drag, no tailwind and full double panniers. I love it when the fog messes with my Garmin, the right way.

  • Highest average speed home on that route but just a bunch of 2nd bests.

More luck with the lights than awesomeness.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Single speed bloke in castelli shorts. Riding through pens ponds just now with no lights. I said as I went passed he should get a rear light as I barely saw him, he went MENTAL shouting his head off, grabbed my arm etc. Can't remember his actual reason for being totally invisible but clearly he is not only a bit devoid of common sense but he is also has a screw lose for such a reaction.

Then ten mins later some hoodrat wannabe tosspot shouts something at me and tried to chase me (on a bso) obviously he failed. But an eventful evening.

I'm having that KOM on Brixton Hill. Four times now in the past fortnight I've been close, only for some bastard to pull out on me, or a bus to indicate, or the lights right at the top to be red.

I wonder how I ever used to motivate myself on the bike before I knew about Strava.

  • Not my fastest average this year for the commute, been over 22mph average last month but chuffed for an end of week thrash considering the weather was rank rotten. Also grabbed a couple of KOMs this week but not of much significance cause I ain`t no climbing goat :p

Did the London to Brighton off road on the CX bike on Saturday, rather punishing but the Strava Flyby is quite entertaining, especially as I 'win'.

Ah, so that's what all the nutters streaming across the ped lights and roundabout in Weybridge were all about. They all looked knackered and were breathing out of their arses at that point so lord knows what they all looked like by the time they got to a hill.

Yes, I was definitely one of the quicker ones on that ride, which says more about the general standard than about me. I was very good and stopped at lights and crossings.
If you watch the Flyby as we come into Weybridge you will see the point I missed an arrow and carried straight on for a bit before going back to pick up the route. About 30 people followed me the wrong way.
I upset a lot of people as I just rode round them on the climb up towards the station.
  • Got my KOM back, absolutely leathered it to then find a car at the worst possible point, still cracked it though and I know I can cut pleny more time if some numpty driver stays out the way.
If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.

Well done, obviously the Garmin is more accurate than a phone. That would certainly be my story.

If you are that desperate, you can always edit the gpx file.....

I'd have just ridden it a bit harder next time.

  • Harder...?

Are you having a laugh...? That's a 3km segment that required a +50kph average.

I had nothing left by the half way point and 3/4's of the way in the reserve was empty too.

I just posted this question on the General forum, it might have been better here. Basically is there a way I can record my commutes on my Garmin 910XT, but not have them show up to my followers since I don't want to spam them with small unimpressive rides (not that my longer rides are impressive either)?

EDIT: And I mean via settings on the watch (or on Garmin Connect/Strava) so that I don't need to manually edit each ride on Strava after it has automatically synced?

hold on a sec how does that work? and the analysis doesnt show you over 30 mph anywhere

    http://www.strava.com/activities/201993 ... is/210/235

    See this doesnt add up?
    AVG MAX
    41.1mi/h 30.4mi/h

    Speed AVG = 41.1mi/h MAX = 30.4mi/h

The average speed is a glitch, look at the analysis: http://www.strava.com/activities/201993 ... is/210/235

    Speed AVG = 27.mi/h MAX = 30.4mi/h

The devil is in the detail.

    Nice one for owning milbank!
