I've got a Spectral 8 coming (apparently) is there a reason you went for the Magic Mary or was it just that you had the tyre and it's better than the MK?

I've had conti verticals on a bike before and they were pretty good. The Nobby Nics I have on my anthem are ok but not confidence inspiring on the front.

I just wanted the flavour of the month super grippy tyre on the front, heard loads about how great the MM was so ordered one from bike-discount.de or Rose in advance. I'd not used contis before so had nothing against them and as it turns out they are very grippy too, there's no reason to change the tyres I was just being a tart
Now I'm just sweating over delivery. I am going to Keswick for an annual weekend away and would love it to be with me for then. Thats in 3 weeks time. On the website it says CW 26/5 - 31/5. Anyone think I 've got a chance?

If it's not delayed expect it to be sent on Fri 30th and with you the following Tuesday, fingers crossed.

given that I got the nobby nics because they have a coloured shoulder that went with the colour scheme of my bike I can't really criticise that

I have just ordered my first Canyon on Tuesday. I deliberated for days over which model. Looked at Nerve, Nerve 29, Nerve 27.5, Spectral 29 but finally decided on Spectral al 6.0. I was about to go for the 7.0 but glanced at the 6.0 and couldnt believe how good the spec was.

That's funny, I looked at the same bikes in that order! I was dead set on the Spectral 7.0 but after taking a second look at the spec on the 6.0, I couldn't justify the cost/benefit for the 7.0. The 6.0 is just amazingly well specced, and it rides like a beast, too.

Just got the email confirming my Spectral 6.0 is being prepared for dispatch :D

How long does it normally take from that point until delivery. They say 5 to 8 days - do you think i have a chance of getting it in time for the bank holiday weekend?

I'm in the same boat as above , can't decide nerve 29er or spectral 29er why so many choices lol

Has anybody rode both and can provide some feed back ?

My main riding would be tracks, single track adventure, likes of Hamsterley etc, no serious jumps but do attempt some black routes
    Road - Scott solace .
    Training - giant xtc 1
    Mtb - Yt Capra pro
Past - Scott spark , caadx ultegra , canyon ultimate cf slx ,trek madone , ridley x-fire , giant Defy, giant trance

I've had a Nerve 29er for a year. I fitted a works Components -1.5% headset reducing the steering angle to 68.5 degrees. Since then the Spectral 29er was launched and has the same head angle which feels perfect to me. Get the Spectral IMHO if you attempt black runs !

Thanks for the info , a few mates have advised the 27.5 over the 29er, don't know what to do for best :?:

I would say the nerve is more XC and the Spectral more all mountain.

I had a nerve last year and it's great for banging in the miles and the not so tricky single track being nice and light too. The Spectral I've just ordered will be more suited for some tougher trails as well as anything else I through at it.

Edit: I've just returned from Coed Y Brenin and rode The Beast with the nerve. Only tricky bits were the rocky sections with only 120mm travel.

Had the same decision to make. In all honesty there is probably very little in the UK that the Nerve could not handle with its 120mm ( full on DH aside).

But, after hovering over the buy button of the Nerve 7.0 I had a good look at the Spectral.

Ended up going for the Spectral 6.0 for the following reasons:

    1. The dropper post. Would probably look to get one whatever bike I got, but it was part of the package

    2. The extra 20mm squish would make life even easier on my ageing back side. In all honesty complete overkill for what I do but I want maximum comfort and as i can only have one bike I wanted a jack of all trades.

    3. I am not a very technical rider and at my age with kids relying on me need all the help ploughing through stuff without doing myself an injury. The steeper head angle of the Nerve made me nervous that down bits could get exciting so wanted a slacker head angle.

    4. Bling red and given the good reviews it is getting a what the hell, why not attitude.

Think about the riding you want to do is my advice. If you are able to justify the Spectral then why not! Oh, and the Nerve is described as XC, and the Spectral as trial/all mountain, if you want labels.

Yay, got dispatch email and tracking info. Delivery due tomorrow, so day of working from home.

Also, started getting nervous on the sizing. Went for a medium, as recommended by the website tool. I went with that because I should have got a medium stumpjumper back when I got mine, and comparing the geometry of the two, there is only a difference of 6mm in top tube length. One of my issues with my large stumpy is that I feel too stretched so didn't want to make the same mistake again. Oh how I will laugh if I go the other way (not).

Looks like a new model Strive type bike is being launched at the beginning of June. Similar to the bike Fabian Barrel has been riding.
I can't keep up...they have already launched a new 2015 road bike the Endurance. The added comfort features seem ideal for the wonderful third world road surfaces in much of the UK. The cheapest one really stands out in terms of value for money.

I've got the Grand Canyon CF SL 6.9 (carbon hardtail 29er). The service I received was brilliant, UPS tracking was excellent. I took delivery of the bike something like ten days earlier than estimated. I've had it since November and just after I took delivery the price jumped up!

I've taken it to Cannock, Sherwood and Llandegla. I did'nt buy it to take it to places like Llandegla but I could'nt resist as there's a fair bit of climbing. I was with four other lads all on full susp bikes, on the DH they were faster than me as the GC feels like a feather and it only has 120mm travel but as soon as we hit the flat and then the uphill I was straight on them no matter how far they were ahead and then they just waved me past. I actually felt like a cheat being on that bike, I was going past everybody like they were in reverse.

It's such a stunning looking bike, I can't fault it. Buy one!

My reasons for buying were pretty much the same as hardrockrob posted, wanted a do it all bike that I can grow into ,not the most experienced rider been riding a gt hardtail for 6mths but after having a go on a full susspension around cannock on sat am so glad I ordered it! So much kinder to my 43yr old bones!

I still cant believe the spec for what is essentially the bottom of the range. My mates got a 3.5k lapierre and its got the same shock, wheels and forks and it didnt come with a dropper post! (admittedly it is a carbon frame though).

Found this excellent review today, it'll whet your appetite Olijay. Sounds like its a cracking bike, cant wait to get out and ride mine in a couple of weeks.

    Bit of urgent advice needed.

Bike has turned up and looks awesome. Have noticed unfortunately some scratches under the bottom part of the down tube. More of a scuff and all but out of site. I will let Canyon know but should I reject and for a replacement with a further long wait, or accept it and see what what what they say. To be honest it is probably going to get worse after the first ride!

Not checked mine yet, will do now! but to tell you the truth if mines the same then I will keep it,am hoping to have it a few years so won't be selling it on and knowing me will come off it the first ride!
Think it depends if it's going to bother you? Read somewhere on here that they build in batches so would you have to wait another few weeks?maybe email canyon and ask the question?

What is the basic Canyon finishing kit like that you get on a bike like the Spectral 6.0? Also which chainstay protector fits and is recommended?

Cheers. It is not in an obvious place so will email them and see what they say. Not sure can live with another 3 month wait!

The kit will be fine, they tend not to scrimp.

It'll come with a chain stay protector.

Yep, think that is what I do. Already getting shorts and glasses because of the delay. The more look at it, it really would be more hassle than its worth sending it back!

Come on Bob, lets have some pictures mate!

Will get some pics up tomorrow night. Just done basic build. Need to put pedals (complete forgot to get these) on, put some air in the forks and helitape it, and then good to go.

Had a sit on and absolutely no need to worry about size. It is perfect for me. I must be all neck to get to 5'11 because standover was just ok and reach spot on.

It looks fantastic in the red in the flesh. Not subtle though. To those of you waiting for your Spectral I think it is going to be worth it.
