    Touché!

Just received my Grand Canyon SLX this evening and spent an hour building it then messing about 'checking' things. Bloody hell it's light. I ordered a week ago so that's a pretty impressive turnaround I think. Can't wait to give it some this weekend.

My road bikes are both canyon as you can see from an earlier post in the road forum.

I'm playing the waiting game for a Spectral A.L 7 w. So far it's been delayed by a month. What gets me is watching my emails all week and then getting the email on Friday after 5pm to say it's delayed for another week, then the pain begins again the following Monday! Now the weathers improved I'm itching to get my hands on it!!

In the mean time I'm getting everything lined up for when it gets here so I can literally get on and ride it the next day. I was wondering if anyone that's taken delivery of a Spectral knows whether it comes with a decent chain stay protector? It says it has an integrated one? If so does it give enough coverage? I've bought some frame guard from allmountainstyle.com which should protect the down tube nicely, so apart from a bit of helitape is there anything else I should have at the ready? Ta!

Update, just returned from glentress wae the cube, to find an email from canyon. Bike is now in the final stages for dispatch. About time says I, I will get another email in the next 48 hrs with the tracking number from ups. So it looks like it will be here early next week. Bring on the spectral al8.0. :D

Disappointed my order has been delayed by 9 weeks. I know it can happen in the past ive ordered canyons from stock this is the first time ive ordered one not in current stock. Ive emailed them for a eta to see if my originally ship date still stood or if it was the new date on the website.

got my spectral 6.0 last friday and went out 3 times on it now. First time with full sus (coming from old HT with nearly stuck fork).
It's very nice to look at and use but struggling with amount of SAG to use, can't quite get it right yet. Fell solid or too soft so far.
Anyway, it looks great in red! :D

Ooooh! Pics please. Had difficulty deciding on colour especially as the raw seems more readily available. Stuck with my decision to get the red though so have a long wait.

How do you find the geometry? I went for the Spectral as an all rounder. Probably over kill for a lot of my riding but thought what the 'eck.

    I'll get a picture.
I did order the raw one and changed to red and have no regrets. It's not as shiny as it seem.
I made a few modifications (went tubeless, 1x10 and changed the grips).
Can't talk about geometry sorry. My HT was so bad that this is a massive step up for me but so far it does everything I want it to do so I'm happy. It's so much faster than the HT and the bigger wheels have not been a problem, quite playful.
It doesn't seem overkill I think, a good platform to progress. Just need the suspension dialed in.

Just had the dreaded email ''Your order was due to ship in Week 13 but has regrettably been delayed and is now due to ship in Week 15'' So now that's a total of 3 delays and I've gone from delivery due week 10 to week 15. I'd heard that Canyon are renowned for delays but surely this isn't a good business model? I'm beginning to think that they send out the 'delay' emails after 5pm on a Friday so they can escape for the weekend without having to deal with irate customers.

It's not great is it. If they can't come close to the delivery times then why say. I have reluctantly decided to wait until my week 21 but if I wait that long and then it gets delayed again I will be seriously unhappy. It takes less time to have a new car delivered!

    Hi guys,
Well my spectral al 8.0 was delivered today at 3.30, 1 week late, all good, never got the chance to build it tonight as we were doing a nite ride at glentress!!!
All I can say is hold on as it looks awesome in the flesh, can't wait to build it tomorrow. It's absolutely stunning.
Will post some pics when I get the chance.

Actually i have my bike arrived this week (18.03). This is my first FS bike and feels the reach is too small (M size). i have just ride it once because of bad weather, it feels grate to ride whit it but yeah bit uncertain that i ordered right frame :/

But thanks for your suggestion :)

At first time the frame seemed very small http://www.hot.ee/kastikas//IMAG0109.jpg

Hello and I' l think the waiting pays off :)
I have a question about the frame size of Nerve AL 7.0, I'm 5 '8 (175cm) whit size you guys suggest me to buy M or L?
Appreciate if anyone answers who has ridden with that model L or M frames with similar height.

    inseam 85cm
    arm 67cm
    thigh 64cm
    lower leg 56cm

    waiting for repley :)

I think your debate should be S or M.

Are you waiting for a reply from Canyon?

Post some side on photographs of you on the bike. An L would potentially be very large though. I'm 177cm with short legs and my M (not this year's model) is perfect.

I thought my 4 week wait (currently 2 weeks in) was bad enough but november, doubt i could order a bike a wait that long, would drive me nuts just waiting for the money to come out the account!!

Something must be amiss if they can't even deliver a bike that was ordered in November on time. My Spectral was ordered in Feb, so not as bad.

The Spectral pic's posted on here do look pretty tasty though and for the price the spec is so much better than anything else. I'm just annoyed that they keep telling me porkies. Only on Wednesday I chased my order by email and had one back saying ''everything looks good with your order on our system, its showing as ready to ship this week'' only to get an email 2 days later saying ''Your order was due to ship in Week 13 but has regrettably been delayed and is now due to ship in Week 15''. Frustratingly bonkers!

    here is my spectral 6.0.
so far so good. Had a few runs with it and it did really well.
Worst kit on it for me so far were the grips replaced by ODI ones as soon as possible. saddle isn't very comfy but will do for a bit. got a 32T NW chainring too and that's been brilliant.
Hope you guys get yours soon as well.

    That's a thing of beauty Bonneol1

Can you tell me how they size please? I think I would be a medium on most canyon's but read somewhere that the top tube is quite short - so a large may be better. I'm of average proportion and about 5'11"...

    And...how does it ride?

Now I live in the Big Smoke I occasionally have to take my Grand Canyon SLX on the train. have to say I rather like the number of glances it gets, makes me feel like I'm dating a super model.

    (I am not dating a super model :( )

Well I emailed Canyon to see if there is anything I can do to not get a delay in my order. No reply yet although I got the automated order confirmation which states week 17. They have waved shipping and packaging costs because of the delay which isn't bad.

So week 18 for my bike.

I gave the uk Canyon folk a call yesterday to check what was going on with my order and they said it wouldn't be shipped for 2 weeks but just had this email "We're almost at the finish line: today we transferred your order to our logistics partner UPS so it will now be with you in just a few days time" so looks good! I'm not sure why they were saying it would be delayed further unless it was to cover themselves against further delays. The good news is though it can still come early even if your told it won't. Can't wait to get it now! :D

Well my Spectral got delayed from week 13 to week 19 so I told them where to go. Went and bought a Radon Slide 150 10 instead. Great bike can thoroughly recommend them (The frames do look very similar, almost as though they've been built in the same factory).

Did both loops of Cannock chase twice yesterday and the bike was awesome. Pikes FTW.
