    Mine was also due to be shipped CW 6 (3-9 Feb).

    But if they're trying to take payment today, then maybe it's coming early :-)

    It is a tough decision especially when spending serious amounts of cash on something you can't try before you buy.

    Then there's which size to go for, I'm 5''10 and it's saying a medium is best for me but a friends just bought a Whyte t129 and he's the same height as me has gone for a large, I'm so confused.

    According to Whyte's own size chart at 5' 10" you're between M and L, and could go either way, depending on preference - I tried a large T129S in summer and was fine on that (at 5' 10", with 34" inside leg). Seems if you're around five ten then you're borderline in most manufacturers' recommendations, so makes choosing a direct buy bike a bit more nerve wracking. :?

    Email or ring them. If it's wrong you can send it back. I'm just under 5'10" and PPS put me on a small. I called and they agreed medium would be better, and it was.

    All good then, assuming they have the alternative size in stock.

    There is size details on the bikes page, I'll be going for a medium as my hardtail bike is an 18 inch frame and comparing stand over heights etc, I thought medium would be best.

    Is that not a way to choose the right size ?

    Credit to Canyon - it is free returns. My XT mech just developed a problem and they shipped me a replacement mech and chain within a few days.

    Yes I've studied the sizing guide and the medium 17.5" frame is slightly larger in stand over and top tube length than my current 18" Kona Cindercone so I'm kind of thinking that a medium should be bang on.

    Think I'm gonna hit the button tonight.

    If it's not too forward, can I ask what your inside leg measures? (Stop sniggering at the back!)
    I'm also just under 5'10" but with a long body and 29" inside leg and concerned that a small will be too short a top tube but a medium will lead to "awkward dismounts".

    Very similar to you, fairly short legs at around 29". Stand over height doesn't bother me though - it isn't a measurement I'd get hung up on, top tube is spot on. A small would have been too small.

  • Ordered a Nerve Al 7.9 tonight, bikes in stock so should be here in 5-8 days, can't wait, my 1st full sus as well.

    How long have other people had to wait when the bike is showing in stock?

  • Congrats on the new bike. I have the 8.9 Nerve. I ordered over Christmas so it took 10 days even though it was in stock. Once it was dispatched it took 2 days.

    On another note, does anyone know what compound tyres Canyon ship with? I have XKing and Mountain King combo and they are useless for where I ride. They say Made in Germany, so does this mean they are the Black Chilli compound? I would never buy Contis again if these are the Black Chilli's - they measure up tiny and are terrible tubless - constant burping and seeping sidewalls...

    It says on canyon website the tyres for your model are black chilli compound.

    With the tyres try running them for a while with tubes and then do tubeless as I've read they will hold better on the rim.

    If you have the clearance you could try some Hans dampf tyres ?

    Cheers. They just give me zero confidence looking down and seeing a 2" wide tyre when the going gets a bit lary! I had 2.25" Nobby Nics on my 26er so might give them a go in 29 and keep the Conti's for the Summer when I am sure they will be great.

    As you seem to know everything I do not about Canyon, do you know the rise and sweep of the Iridium 3 bars? Could do with something identical albeit it slightly wider.

    Cheers Swod

    They do fit. I've got a one on the front of my Nerve 7.9 in the sticky trailstar compound. I've seen pictures of one on the back and it's a tight fit but workable.
    On the back though you want a narrower tyre in a UK winter if you ride mud. Specialist mud tyres are narrow.
  • Any one ordered/received one of the new nerves yet? Not the 29er the brand new 27.5" wheeled ones? I ordered the nerve 6.0 on Christmas Day and pending shipping week is week 12.

    I've ordered the nerve 27.5 shipping date this week, no news yet. Checking my emails like some kind of stalker :shock:
  • Hi all, I've been deliberating for months now on my new bike and finally decided on the Spectral AL. Just a bit nervous on sizing. The PPS is telling me I'm a medium but I pretty much at the top of the scale for the medium size I think. Just wondering if anyone of similar height etc has bought one and what size they went for.....

    height=6ft/183cm
    inseam=33in/84cm

    I know I could send the bike back but in this ideal world we live in I'd rather get it right first time :D:D

    Thanks

    If this is any help, I ordered a 2013 Yellowstone 29er last Easter and the PPS said small but I went with the medium. As my above post states I've ordered another canyon, a nerve and again was spec'd a small but still ordered a medium. The Yellowstone fits me perfect!!!
  • Well week 6 isn't happening, wk 8 now . Apparently they are moving factory, just happy it's raining. But I get a free scarf as a goodwill gesture :roll:
