If I was to push the button and buy a canyon which is due for delivery in another six weeks, would I have to move money from savings account to account linked to debit card before placing order, or can I leave it another couple of weeks? Thanks
I paid mine by credit card in Nov and they still haven't charged the account yet.
They don't charge the account till the bike is dispatched.
i would pay by credit card at least u would be insured to some extent. You would also have the option to pay the money into the account just before or after the bike is dispatched.
Thanks a lot Gaz , that clears a lot up . Orderd it Saturday and will pay money into account the week before delivery0 -

I went for the nerve 9.0 sl in the end, more than I should spend really, but seamed all I did last year was bike so bit of luck it will work out.
Just really hope the size is right.0 -

Yip was worried about size as well, and have been in contact with canyon uk, who have said that the medium is spot on for me, so should be all good just week 12 to wait for :evil:Cube reaction gtc race 2011 26er, Canyon spectral al 8.0 2014, cube reaction gtc race 2015 29er

Same here mate, they said the small would fit me fine, hope they are right always had medium in past , have tried a medium and small when managed to pester people out on local trail center, and to be fair the small seemed to fit better than the med , just hope the same go's with the 2014 frames0

Hi, glad you like the look of it. Some people (of the all the gear no idea variety) have said they do not like the colour scheme but I love it.
Only put one 30k ride on it with a night ride planned for tomorrow and a 50ker on Sunday so will give a proper report then (including improvements on my Strava times hopefully!).
Sadly though on the first ride the jockey wheel on the mech went out of alignment and there was a stiff link in the chain - both components fault rather than Canyon. But Kudos to Canyon as they have sent me out a new mech and chain. Neither of the problems caused the shifting to fail or ruined the ride, but rather jump around a bit and fowled the inside of the mech a fair bit.Remember Rule #50 -
Are the nerve al+ last years bikes that didnt sell as the spec looks very good xt gears, brakes and chainset etc.
As they are 150mm travel is there any point in looking at the spectral ?0 -

Still good spec for the money, i'm looking at buying one this year sometime, looked at specs of a few bikes and the canyon seems to be about the best.
Either the spectral al 6 or nerve al+ 8 that i'm looking at getting and wonder do i need 150mm front travel.0 -
How does the SRAM running gear rate on the Canyons? I've heard in general it's great for road bikes but not so great for mountain bikes?0

Down to personnel taste, my m8s just went from shimano to SRAM, and he's not that happy with it says it's not as smooth as the shimano changing etc, plus the shift is the other way round. Think you would need to try it for yourself and then make a judgment on what one you like more.
When I was buying my new bike I was trying to make my mind up Shimano or SRAM and went for shimano as I knew that bestCube reaction gtc race 2011 26er, Canyon spectral al 8.0 2014, cube reaction gtc race 2015 29er

Calling on the canyon bike owners for some advice please ?
After getting my first ever full suss bike and I would like to buy a canyon purely on spec and price.
A choice between these
Nerve al 7
Nerve al+ 8.0
Spectral al 6.0
Comparing them the nerve al+ 8 looks the best spec but is a dropper post, 150mm travel worth the extra over the other two, I won't be doing any down hill riding but would like something that is capable if I do get into that later.
I mostly ride xc and on local trails. So thinking anything over 120 will be a waste for me.
Also what's with a 38/24 double on the spectral isn't that a little big ? I can get up most hills on a 32 with 11-34 on my hard tail.
Another thing do canyon use high quality bearings on there bikes ?0 -
When you say 'I mostly ride xc and on local trails' what sort of distance and time are you spending out there?
I have just got a Nerve AL 8.9 29er and it is a ferocious mile eater! I ride the Dales week in week out and since changing to this bike from my 100mm travel hardtail I am overtaking people I used to struggle to hold their wheel, and this applies to up hill, down hill and across!Remember Rule #50 -

I can easily do over 25 miles on a local loop I do quite a bit and a mate who rides is talking about going to dalby forest and other places over the next few months.
also sizing is a not a worry as such but I couldn't get it to work last night and think I'm a medium going on the stand over height from canyons website and taking measurement from my hard tail which is 18inch frame.0 -
In my opinion some of the 150mm travel bikes you listed might be a little OTT for 25 mile+ rides, but I don't know how hard you ride and the terrain.
I chose my Nerve 29er based on similar specifics - I like riding good distances every week (30-50k rides) but also go to the odd trail centre (Hamsterly and Coed y Brenin etc). So far it is a very rapid bike and covers the distance with ease. The 26" Nerve won trail bike of the year several years in a trot and the new 29er has had great reviews (mostly 4.5 out of 5).
Maybe worth adding to the shortlist?Remember Rule #50 -
Not sure I fancy a 29er as the wheels are a bit large after having a look in the local bike shop.
The terrain is quite varied as it can be hard pack canal paths or through some local woods that can be quite technical and rough where my hardtail bike copes well on it but a full suss would rip it up on there, to a country park with hills and scary looking down hill routes that I could ride.
The bikes Im looking at have the fox talas forks which you can lower the front from 150 to 120 and on the spectral 140 to 110mm travel.
I was looking at even the strive but that is over the top bike for what I ride so it's either the nerve al+ 8 or spectral 7 or even a nerve xc/touring type 120 travel bike.0 -

Got full X0 on mine and it's been great - shifting is awesome, a real satisfying thunk. Shifting nicely even after bending the hanger the other week.
Jockey wheels on rear mech are the only weak area. After just over a year of riding the top one now seizes and needs to be degreased and lubed every few rides and the bottom one has gone all spikey. At £30 for a new pair I think I'll be replacing with some aftermarket ones.0 -

I would just be careful about changing the travel on the forks as it will mess with the geometry of the bike, and IMO I would go for a bike designed for the use you want.
In regards to 29er please do not buy a bike because of the way it does or doesn't look! The 29er debate has been well argued here so i wont go to far into it. BUT, just get one out on demo and see if you think the same afterwards! OMG they are fast! Especially the Nerve 29er which is very agile on singletrack and the 29er wheel +110mm travel =a very smooth, fast ride. Honestly, now I am riding this I am keeping pace with riders who were normally 50m in front. Seriously worth considering.
If you are looking at the bike with the Talas forks maybe post a new topic in workshop or somewhere and get some of the techies opinion on doing it - or even contact Canyon.Remember Rule #50 -

I've added the more xc/all day riding nerve model to the list, this is something that may be more suitable for what i want but as the models aren't in stock i've got time to think about it before putting an order in.
how did you work out what frame size you needed, i used the canyon sizing app on the website and i got an error message.0 -
Has anyone had the dt swiss one spline wheels yet and converted them to tubeless, and if so did they arrive with the valves? And how hard was the job? Have never gone tubeless on any of my other bikes, but planning to go tubeless before taking my new bike for its first spin0

At the risk of sounding like a hysterical fanbois I like that all dark stealth look and also the black/blue models.
When I bought my 7.9 back in April the anodized black version had white forks and saddle and white on parts of the frame. Not really the look I wanted.
The gray painted version turned out to be quite a practical choice. It doesn't show the scratches and the fluorescent green logos show up a bit in the dark !

Thanks, the grey looks great ; jealous about the Reverb too! Sadly the black is showing up the stone impact points a little easy but I guess that is a minor consequence.
How are you finding the bike? I am absolutely ripping on mine and loving it. It took a little while to get the pressures right in the shocks but now they are sorted it is amazing. It took a while to get used to the slightly slower reaction time with the 29er, but I have soon realised you do not need to make as many asjustments anyway as the 29 will roll over and grip where 26 would fail!Remember Rule #50 -

So, Canyon tried to take my payment today (my c/card company blocked it but I think we are now resolved.
1. Am I right in saying thuis is the full balance as no deposit was requiered on order?
2. How long should I expect to wait until shipping / delivery from payment?
Many thanks.Rich0 -
From what I can work out, they take payment on day of shipping, but don't quote me as still waiting for mine to be shipped, week commencing 3rd of February0

I've put on a 60mm zero rise stem and 740mm flat bars which feel better to me.
