I took delivery of my Grand Canyon CF SL 6.9 about two weeks ago, it came ten days early!

It's a carbon hardtail 29er which I was planning on using for local stuff only but I took it to Llandegla yesterday and on the climbs it's unbelievable. Nobody can get anywhere near me!

The service from Canyon and UPS was nothing less than perfect

  • Hi Guys,

Just placed an order for my first Canyon, a Spectral al 9.0ex. Going to be a long wait until May but I hope its worth it. Was toying with the SL or the EX but the 1x11 drivetrain swung it. Only upgrades I can see are perhaps to swap the Revelations for Pikes but a few rides first before I make my mind up on that.

Now where can I get a 20 week advent callendar :)

Looking to buy a Canyon possibly a Nerve AL or a Spectral AL, would people recommend using the sizing guide on the site as I tried this and it says I should be a small frame but looking at the specs a medium matches to what I currently ride, a 17" Specialized Rockhopper.

The same happened with me, I e-mailed them and they agreed a medium was right. If it is wrong you can always send it back.

Any way to check the build progress? or do you just wait for it to be delivered?

    [it being a Lux CF]

  • Hi , 1st post I'm very near pushing the button to buy a nerve 29er I'm 5'8 the size indicator is recommending a small frame, also e mailed canyon uk they said it does sound right, is there anyone else similar size as me with the 29er?
I've managed to sit on a small 26 and a med 26 the small felt a bit tighter with the med feeling a touch to stretched .
Also does the small 29er look a bit out of proportion with the big wheels?
    Thanks in advance

I've answered this elsewhere, but order it and if it's wrong send it back.

Without knowing other measurements small sounds about right. The proportions thing is subjective.
  • Thanks for the reply mcnulty, yes suppose the proportion thing is awkward, had a look round some local bike shops today but no small 29ers on display all medium.
Any more input from anyone more than welcome, especially a pic of one
  • How the hell do you guys wait so patiently for your bikes to arrive?!?! I ordered mine on the 31st Dec and I had my conformation email last week stating delivery Week 2 - 2014.

I have tried to fill the void by reading, and re-reading, every review of the bike out there!

Decided not to use my current bike again - its spanking clean and ready to sell on ebay - so stuck inside waiting for Canyon emails!!!!

Cheers mate, will look forward to it
  • Yet another quick question
If I was to push the button and buy a canyon which is due for delivery in another six weeks, would I have to move money from savings account to account linked to debit card before placing order, or can I leave it another couple of weeks? Thanks

For me I had to have it in their account 10 days before delivery - but I was living in NL then...

I paid mine by credit card in Nov and they still haven't charged the account yet.
They don't charge the account till the bike is dispatched.
i would pay by credit card at least u would be insured to some extent. You would also have the option to pay the money into the account just before or after the bike is dispatched.

Just assembled my Nerva AL 8.9 29er. It arrived yesterday (my 29th birthday coincidentally enough) so fairly hungover today - first ride on it tomorrow.

I love the Stealth colour too - I'm not one for flashy colours really and think it looks quite classy all in black.
