wont get much canyon lux 29 for your 3000 euro..... personally unless you can buy the 4500k one Id not bother. Maybe its just me but also maybe as just thrashed by a mtb pro -woman riding a 26" hardtail over 130km. Asked why she was riding that bike given she had any choice she said because its hard to break it and it weigh's fxck all.... said in a lovely french accent I had to agree :)

Thanks for the feedback guys ^

I think I've decided on getting the more expensive SLX. As has been stated above, it is better to go with the better frame and swap out components as and when needed. However, before I press the order button I'm waiting to see the prices and specs of the Lux CF 29 range. I'm 95% certain I will go with a hardtail - but am a little curious to see the what the Lux has to offer. Quite a few people riding in the same area as I are riding full suspensions, due to comfort on the longer rides.

if youve ever been to their factory/store front you see them testing every single bike by riding it in the car park to test forks and brakes etc. personally wouldnt worry

Hello there guys.. i am pretty happy owner of a grand canyon al slx 7.9

while i am inspecting the bike i found those signs at the crankset.

1 small scratch at the left side
signs of use at the place you put the bolts for the pedals
and lastly the crankset's teeth arent all black, many are silver, like they have been used before.

    i post photos.
anyone ever received a bike with signs of use??
(i have read siomewhere that canyon's peripherals are B'grade but i wouldnt believe him, now i saw this and i am a bit confused..

    i gonna email canyon.

What the hell is the problem, you mentioned a scratch but from the photos of the chainset and rings that looks fairly standard ? Just enjoy the bike man! Or send it back get your money back and got to your lbs and pay twice as much for a bike of similar spec... Mary mother of Jesus! Don't some of you people have proper problems in life?

What about the standover height? Would you say it is tight?

Me too, loving the chrome red finish, credit card is itching for a kicking. However my wife would explode with rage if another bike appears!

what the hell is YOUR problem?? i got a NEW bike and demand no scratches at ALL. the bike i received had signs of use whatever sings they were. except at crankset it had also marks at rear derailleur.

if they let people test them THEY should inform me that i received a returned bike, and not read this from people on forums.

they have ignored all of my emails while presales they were answering everything.

they aftersales costumer service is 0. they took my money and now ignore me.

So what your saying is YOU would rather have a bike that's untested? Would you be happy if it fell apart on your first ride? I have to admit, I would not be happy if my emails were ignored, that's unacceptable but from what you have taken photos of it looks like where they have tested the bike prior to posting. Like I said, your lbs will offer arguably better service but be prepared to pay. You can't have the penny and the bun

Hi everyone. I am planning to order either a Strive or a Torque but what really bothers me is the too high standover that is around 82 - 83 cm when in other bicycles like Trek is around 74-75 cm. OK obviously you ride the bike and not stand on it but when you ride off road the lower the standover the safer it is. So for example people with 83-84 inseam are you OK or do you get in contact with the toptube?

    Any feedback on this?

2 different bikes, 1 is slacker than a hookers muff and the other one you can pedal, as far as stand over goes so long as my sack is not resting on the top tube i dont care..if i was buying i would buy a strive though.

I'm guessing, but I think the Strive is going to be an all new model in 2015. The current one doesn't fit in with the new design philosophy started in 2012/13.
Fabien Barel will no doubt provide the test riding input.

I suppose that you have the Strive, am I right? What size is it and what is your inseam if I may ask?

Looks lush doesn't it, especially with the black forks. Almost too nice to take off road, lol - I can imagine that shiny paint being very easy to scratch.

Yeah but I never seem to keep a bike long enough to completely trash it anyway! Get bored to quickly! I am seriously tempted

I'd certainly like to try one. It's on the shortlist for potential upgrades next year.

Am I the only one that thinks the basic Nerve 2014 is a ridiculously awesome deal at £1200?

The only thing that really would need changing is the brakes!

Have you seen how long you have to wait for delivery?
  • I was looking forward to possibly ordering one of the new nerve 650b bikes but soon realised that they only go up to size large frame (only 19 inch too) Being 6 foot 3" i think this is probably too small so i emailed canyon would they be adding an xl frame in the future. They never answered that so I take it as a no. They just told me I would be better suited to the nerve 29er.
Disappointed about it,would have liked the choice. They always made the nerve in xl frame before, why change.

Why are the delivery times so bad? They're available Feb if I order now. If I'm ready to buy in February...will I have to wait till June or something?

Becasue they re a globally popular brand and everyone has been waiting to buy 650b (or whatever)

  • Tall Canyonists, hear hear!

Are there any fellow giants who are currently riding a 3XL Canyon Ultimate CF SLX who could post some images?

I am considering switching to one (currently riding a CAAD10), but as Canyon's policy is by-order-only, I have never seen how the CF SLX looks like in such a large size. Therefore, would like to see how one looks like before purchasing..

    Thanks!
  • Question for Torque ex owners. When you say, that torque clims well. How many altitude meters do you do with the bike on a ride? I am looking for this bike to replace my lapierre spicy. Spicy is incredibly good all round/enduro bike, but torque looks like a very capable and nice bike. But the question that I still have, will the bike climb as well as my spicy did? Weight is no issue, since my spicy weigh amost 16 kilos and I do with him regular 1000+ meter of altitude meters also on techical climbs (going up on single tracks I do regulary). WIll toruque ex performe on long climbs? I am looking for the onw, that has talas on, so the fork can be lowered.....

The Norther Train did 230 miles from North to South Wales on his, climbing at least 5500ft each day.

I ride my Torque FR up pretty much anything, it weighs near as makes no difference 40lb
  • The northen monkey, I see, that you have exactly the same bike collection, that I plan to have. Today spicy was my do it all bike. Now I plan torque + epic. good choice!!!!
  • I bought one of the last 2013 Strive 8.0 CHs the other week and within 10 days, it was delivered and ready to build.

Unfortunately it had a massive dent in the down tube when I got it out of the box, it looks like the box had been squeezed inwards and the rear cassette has been crushed into the down tube. Gutted is an understatement! Has anyone else had any issues with damage in transit?

Canyon have been very good about it, the bike was collected for return by UPS within 48 hrs and a new one is on its way out to me. Great service but still frustrating having to wait twice as long to get out and ride it.
