    Dear All,

Im moving forward from my 140mm days and on the brink of heading for a 160mm + bike.

Will the Canyon Torque be the right bike for me. I really want a bike that will be fine for the ups at all the uk trail centres but can still handle the downs that the Alps can throw at it.

Appreciate any feedback from owners of Torques ex trail flow/gapstar bikes.

I have the money waiting just umming and arring!!

    Cheers

    T

if its going to be your only bike i'd edge towards the strive, its light and efficient enough to ride all day on and so good on the downhills i actually sold my giant glory as it wasn't necessary anymore.
ribble sportive for the black stuff

Canyon Strive AL 8.0 for the brown and green stuff.

What has one got to do with the other? The Reverb Stealth is a dropper post, nothing to do with DH :?

    Nice looking bike btw

OK been out a couple of time now and the bike works fine. Feels very neutral handling wise with my weight well centred. No rattles from the internal cabling and the clutch in the rear derailleur keeps chain slap down.

Canyon do seem to run the bikes on the bench before sending out. No brake rub, gears work perfectly, sag set correctly.
I bought a Cannondale carbon road bike a while back from Pedal On and it needed fettling before working properly. I get the impression Pedal just move boxes from A to B.

    Very nice adamfo.

I bought a Nerve Al 8 back in February and can't get enough of it. Such a pleasure to ride
  • Has anyone had to use the service centre for any work to an existing bike? If you have, then how were the comms and turnaround times please? Would really appreciate it if you shared your experience.

I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to ride this to 10% of the bike's ability, but by 'eck, she's a looker, especially in these GSXR colours, mmmm...

Good oh! I think I'm probably on the small side of a "Medium" so that's good!

Adam - it was between the nerve and the 29er, I hesitated on the nerve just because I want to see how the 650b thing plays out.

  • Hello everyone! I need some help here I am seriously considering between the Canyon Strive 9.0 SL (since the RACE model is sold out for the season) or the Canyon EX Vertride for my next bike. Which bike out of the 2 would you recommend I will be doing alot of jumps, gap jumps and some moderate climbing on the hills.

I know the strive performs well on the climb but how does the Torque perform when it comes to climbing? has anyone had this experience?

any valuable input would be much appreciated.

    Torque EX Vertride: http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes ... ab-reiter2
  • MeTrek8000 -

Did you get this sorted as I'm currently having issues with my rear wheel, doesn't sit symmetrically in the seatstays when viewed from above and when viewed from the front of the bike can clearly see that it sits nearer the non-drive side. Possible cause of bearing wear?

The Canyon Torque is tested in the current issue (MAY) of Mountain Biking UK magazine.

Got my Torque EX Alpinist back in early March and I have done a fair amount of climbing with it. I would say that it does climb very well, even before considering that it is a 180mm bike. I haven't even needed to use the granny ring yet. Being able to drop the nose using the Talas forks and switching on the pro pedal on the rear shock really does help a lot. I would definitely recommend getting a Reverb seat post for it though since the Vertride model doesn't come with one. My Torque EX came with one as standard being the Alpinist version.

I've got a 2011 Nerve XC 8.0. In my two years of ownership I've been in touch with the UK office on 4 occasions. Generally they respond quite quickly to emails and I've been pleased with the customer service I've received. They replaced a broken rear skewer and a faulty derailleur hanger quickly, without charge or fuss (e.g. I didn't have to prove what the problem was by returning the relevant parts, an emailed photo was good enough).

The most serious problem I had was last year when I noticed a crack in the frame where the rear hanger bolts on to the chainstay. After sending in some photos it was handled as a warranty claim; Canyon arranged for my bike to be shipped to and from their UK office at no charge to me and the work was completed within a week. When I got the bike back I noticed that the new chainstay now only has two holes for attaching the hanger whereas the original had three. The crack had appeared where the third hole was so I suspect this may have been a design flaw that has been addressed on later models.

Hi thanks for the feedback. I think I will go ahead and go with the Torque Vertride I was just a bit concerned about its climbing ability as I do a lot of climbing 70% of my riding. :D Even though the strive 9.0 does have impressive goodies list! hmmmm

    hey all new guy here

was wondering if someone could help me out regarding the Canyon delivery dates. I've ordered the strive and just been sent invoice etc with the planned delivery date for week 24 (early June) how accurate is this ? could it possibly come before ? Also do they inform you when its about to be sent so that i can be around to take delivery.

Usually fairly accurate I think. And yes they inform you and give you a tracking number so you can click a link every 5 mins in the hope that your bike will have made the next step in its journey from Germany.

does anyone have another source of mech hangers other than Canyon itself? They want to charge £10 postage which seems a bit steep even though it is coming from germany.

    If its me your asking?

    Height=183cm
    inseam =87cm
and center of BB to top of saddle= 76.5cm
with these, canyon PPS rec the M but when i rang/emailed them, they said the L based on my measurements, even saying the M would need a different/longer seat post for me.

I can't remember how much Canyon charge but here's a UK outlet that sells them.

Thanks guys, price is similar for the canyon mech hanger. Think I might wait until they carry spare parts in the UK. (which they say they are trying to set up very soon)

After placing an order, did anyone else receive an email from Canyon UK, requesting photo identification?
I've just received the below email, after I ordered a Nerve Al+ 7.0 a couple of days ago.
Many thanks for ordering a Canyon bike.

Due to an unfortunate rise in cases of credit card fraud over the past weeks we’ve had to implement some additional checks on all new purchases with credit card.

We’re really sorry if this causes you any inconvenience while we work with our web team to increase the level of security on our online purchase pages.

From now on we are requesting some form of photo identification from you like ID card or Driving licence. The ID must show your current address and photo identification and needs to be sent to us as an attachment as an answer on this mail.

Your order will be placed on a brief hold while this takes place, but released as soon as we receive it.

Once again thanks for your cooperation and support with this situation, and we wish you well with your new bike.

    Sincerely,

    Canyon Bicycles Ltd

It's a lot less inconvenience than someone buying a £2K bike on your card :P

My initial payment got held by my bank for similar reasons, my bank phoned me about a minute after I'd submitted payment to check it was actually me, I confirmed and they let it go through :)
