Hopefully the inconsistency in the quality of service will improve with the new office opening in the UK soon.

I took mine out for the first time on Sunday, the saddle somehow developed a crack on the underside during the ride, they're sending out a new one FOC, no questions asked. Can't ask for more than that considering it's not even a Canyon branded one, they didn't even request photos (although I did offer).

I didn't have any complaints until they sent me the wrong thing...here's hoping you get the one you ordered!

  • Well, I'm glad you're all having fun riding your bikes. After being fobbed off several times, 2 months after ordering my bike still hasn't arrived. I'm getting quite bored with the weekly e-mails I'm having to send to find out information. I can't wait for the next excuse, it'd be quicker getting someone to ride a bike from the factory to my house.

What are they saying is the problem? What bike are you waiting for?

Torque ex. Well there was a problem with a supplier in December, apparently at the beginning of January it was the same problem. I was told it would arrive last week by the guy in the uk office. And still no sign that it is even being assembled so I'm just waiting to see what the issue is now.

  • Just had a call from Canyon saying that the bike is not going to be shipped for at least a week. The excuse they gave was a problem with an SRAM component. The only SRAM components I can think of on the Nerve AL 6.0 are the brakes and the forks and SRAM are going to the factory to investigate.

The SRAM issue is affecting a batch of 84 bikes so might cause some more people some grief.

@RandG ---could not be more jealous. enjoy!!!
  • Has the new Nerve AL 29 shipped yet? I'm interested in seeing some reviews of this bike.

Well finally got round to building it (not that there is much building to do) so here are the results. One other thing I will add, I also ordered another hanger, turns out I ordered the wrong one, I emailed them to try and exchange, they emailed back saying they will send the proper one foc. 8)

  • Hi folks,

Just about to push the button on a Nerve AL+8.0, between a small and medium. Canyon pps system says small but I have always ridden a medium size bike, last bike was a zesty 514 2011 in medium.

Worried about the min maximum insertion for the reverb. Can anyone who has a medium lower the seat post as low as it goes, position the crank at lowest point and then tell me the length of stroke between pedal and edge of the seat.

It would do me a big favour!

Height is 5ft9inch and 29.5inch inside leg........Looks as though balls would be dragging though on the top tube when their stand over height is stated  Small it may be????

Opinions folk. Also black or white and orange

    Thanks

    Alan

Pics of a Stealth black AL+ 8 here: viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=12897485 it looks even better in the flesh, I couldn't stand having a white bike :P

I can't help you with size, mine is Large. That's what the PPS had me as and it is spot on.

PPS felt wrong for me (nerve am from last year), saying small instead of medium. I spoke to them and they agreed with me - medium. It's spot on for me, but with no stand over clearance, but this isn't really an issue, I never stand over my top tube.
  • See I always have had a medium bike. Did the PPS accurately and it said small on my strive 9.0al

Small is a perfect fit or me this time.

Most bike manufacturers "Smalls" are 15.5" and most "Mediums" are 17.5", whereas the Canyon Nerve "Smalls" are 16.5" and the "Mediums" 18.5". So you old Medium maybe a 17.5" frame, which is why on the Canyons you may be on the cusp between the 2 sizes. What you could do is check the geometry on your existing bike against the Canyon Small and Medium and make a decision based on that.

    • After being pointed to this thread, couldn't resist a quick pic of my Canyon:-

Absolutely love it, few niggles with Canyon themselves, but its the price you pay for a smaller outfit with direct customer service IMO.

The bike has transformed my riding (first venture into proper DH stuff), and I love riding it.

Got it in Aug-2012 and I look after it pretty good, and she's still going strong, ridden fairly regularly.

The back of the seat has been chewed by it rubbing the tyre on full compression, which is a bit crap, but I just need to replace the seat when I get fed up of it.

I'd say its the angle of your seat that's caused it. It looks to nose high.
    • Lovely bike, its a bit stupid that it catch's the seat but thats the angle you want it at if your pointed down all the time. Still its not much of a compromise for such a great bike at a great price.
I'd still adjust it so it dosent catch tho could potentially be dangerous when your nailing it and the rear wheel locks.
Only needs a mm or so clearance, just lift the saddle a smidge or move it on the rails is what i would do.

Just had a to chase a order with Canyon (new downtube protector) and they were very fast with there responses usually within a couple of minutes of the email being sent. (Wont be getting the part till March though :( not their fault).

Looks like the new call centre is working although there is some room for improvement when it comes to keeping customers updated with their orders, rather than customers have to chase.
    • Ordered a Nerve CF 8.0 at the end of December and was given a delivery week of CW4. So I called them during CW4 to get an update and was told it would be delayed by a week due to a major component that hadn't been delivered from a supplier. Rang them on Monday of CW5 and was told my bike was in production and would be dispatched by the end of the week.... rang them at the end of the week and was then told it wasn't actually in production at all, there has now been a delay with 'several' major components and it would now arrive in CW7.

In addition to this I've had the usual frustrations of not being able to get through to anyone etc etc and only being informed of things once I actually chase them. On the plus side due to the rally in the Euro my bike has appreciated £100 since I ordered it.

Am tempted just to cancel the order but had my heart set on this bike as for the price I don't think it can be beaten anywhere. If anyone else has had a similar experience do you think it will actually be delivered in CW7 now they've put it back or will they just keep delaying it every time the new date comes along?

I'd hang on; I'd imagine that they have been let down by parts suppliers just as they release their new range, which would be less of an issue later in the year. If you get your money back what would you go for that is the same money in the same time, assuming it is only another week or so?

My Canyon said it was going to be 7 weeks and actually took 6 or something in about May of last year, but it was well worth waiting.
    • You'll forget the delay once you get the bike. You'll always remember the bike.

I ordered my Nerve CF 8.0 back last July when they were 1st released and Canyon indicated a delivery of mid-September and the bike turned up on time. Since then the Nerve CF (including the 8.0) has had several test wins in the German biking mags.

      http://www.canyon.com/_en/service/testr ... l?test=424

Although for some reason no mention that I am aware of in UK mags yet. They have already sold out in some size/colour combinations. So I guess demand has been higher than expected and they are struggling to meet demand/get all the parts they need, which could explain the delay you are experiencing.

Whatever you do, do not cancel your order. Even with the 2 price increases since they 1st came out they are still amazing value (before ordering mine I had been looking at/test riding similarly specced bikes from Yeti, Santa Cruz, etc and they were all coming out in the £4500+ range). And once you finally get it and have a ride I don't think you will regret it. Value aside they are great bikes and a better ride than all of the other bikes I tested. Stick with it!
    • My Nerve CF (9.0) turned up in 3 days the week before Christmas. I was shocked, didn't expect to see it 'till Jan really. I moaned about the rear shock trail adjust bring stiff and they sent me a new shock.
Full marks for Canyon from me.
    • im buying a Al damit, whats wrong with me, 2 canyons allready..

im a little confused with their seizes though, as my current mtb is 19" but my road bike is 59cm,

Looking into their bikes they seem to come up large, is this correct?
Atm looking into M but their size tool says large which i think will be too big.

Im 5"11 and got a large Strive. It was perfect but If i was an inch shorter id of struggled as the reverb was at the lowest it would sit in the stem.
    • Canyon have finally sorted everything out and I have just received the shipping notification. They have been having big problems with the Reba RL fork on a batch of Nerve AL6.0's and SRAM have been trying to help them resolve it.

I have to say, since their UK support team have come back into the office from doing the London Bike show, they have been great.
