  • Just looking at the nerve al+'s and the 7.0 states it comes with a rockshox reverb stealth but the 8.0 up says rockshox stealth custom? Anybody know the difference if any??

The stealth shows as having 125mm travel and the stealth custom shows 150mm, I don't know if this is the only difference. Your best bet is to email Canyon via the contact form on the site, they're pretty quick at replying in business hours.

Also, this is on SRAM's site
Reverb Stealth: New 150mm Travel Model
The clever and clean Reverb Stealth, which routes the hose internally through the frame by featuring a hose exit point from the bottom of the post, will offer an all-new 150mm travel version – in addition to a 34.9mm option. Please note: standard model Reverb available in 100mm and 125mm travel models only.
  • Bit of a random query, but has anyone tried 650B wheels on a Nerve AM ?

I know Fox 32's are supposed to be OK, but the rear clearance looks a bit tight. Just wondered if anyone has given it a go.

I've got a feeling my AM isn't far off 650B or even 29" with the standard wheels and the 2.4 tyres it's got on.

You may be right re 650B, but I doubt it for 29's.

In any case, I'm more interested if there is anyone who has actually tried this possibly mad experiment

i'd be surprised if one would fit on the rear, but if it actually did, i would imagine that it would have to have a much smaller tyre on it, that they would be no point or benefit for doing so

  • im looking to treat myself to another canyon...

Just unsure which one atm..... i was going to go for the AL+ but wondering if it just too much for what i need and whether the xc be a better bet.

Main issue i have with AL+ is weight, and responsiveness, dont want it to feel too unwieldy on the trail given the long travel at back.

the xc looks good but again im worried about the 120 travel being limiting, ie how hard can you push it around.

anyone got the new Al+ or xc models maybe given their comments on how it rides and where they ride more importantly..

I've got a 2011 XC and have ridden reds and blacks at Glentress, Innerleithen, Coed-y-Brenin, Afan, Llandegla, Cwmcarn (XC and DH trails, albeit the DH was taken very carefully!) as well as natural trails all over the place (inc. down Snowdon), without any problems. I've pushed it pretty hard (at least I think I have). Sure, you might be able to ride faster downhill on some of that stuff on a bike with more travel, but I don't think it's limited me at all. If I'm honest, although I lust after a bike with 160mm of travel, it probably wouldn't be the right bike for 90% of the riding I do, you may be different of course!

If you get the XC, you'll be able to ride everything in the UK really bar the hardest of DH tracks. It'll also make you a better rider overall, as its known that longer travel makes for lazy riding (Read it on Pinkbike)
  • Thanks for the comments, that was my main concern with the al+that it might be to much for most of the riding I do.

I probably just listing over big forks for epic downhill runs which I just not going to be doing lol.

Just got to decide which xc to get.. Tempted by the xc 8 and seems good value to, was a little bit tempted by the 29er f's, but can't see it being realistically that much better.

One question though I love spez geometry ie quite aggressive how does the xc compare?

Great support from Canyon so far, I've not needed anything major but they've been really helpful and quick to respond via email so far, I've changed the size of frame and my delivery address, each was done within the hour of my email.

My order is due for dispatch next week, I think it'll probably take longer than the normal 3 days they said it should because of the bank holidays etc, getting excited now! :D

Either Nerve is plenty of bike for "Coed y brenin, Snowdon, Penmachno etc etc"!! There is noting at any venue that needs something more heavy duty.
Not this sh*t again. People like to ride fast and feel in control, you know. Sometimes a bigger bike is necessary to ride at the speed you want to go on some tracks. Just because you haven't ridden a uk DH track at 30mph doesn't mean nobody else occasionally wants to on a multi discipline based bike.

Did you find it? I copied the spec onto my thread in the "Your Mountain Bikes" section on here, in any case.

  • After weeks of turmoil deciding what to go for, I finally placed my order for a Nerve CF 9.0 today. God knows how long it will take with Christmas getting in the way. I went for Slate in the end, even that decision took me ages

I didn't really expect to get it until early Jan. Only managed a 45 minute blast around the block through the floods but I'm well chuffed so far :)

Good mate. I've got a Strive and it's a brilliant bike.

I'm interested in the fact that the 2013 Strive models have the stealth seatpost and where the cable runs to an from. Is there a chance that you can show us some pics of where the cables run from the bar, into the frame etc?
