Woohoo, even more proof that you ARE a proper mountain biker. You're even in pictures taken with MBUK angles!
Either that, or the photographer had one leg MUCH shorter than the other

It's all about rad angles! I imagine Joolze was falling over as she took the photo, due to my awesomeness.

The fisheye lens does make that look like a pathetic drop though haha!

No, it makes it look like you're nanoseconds away from having a terrible accident!

In that respect it's a very accurate shot then!

    All hail El Cap!

I have to say,m considering it had been months since I've been on the bike, and more months since I'd been out "properly", plus the winter's smoking, I'm dead chuffed with how I'm going :D

    what's your beef, Nick?
  • Good move making this a sticky. Cheers.

I'm quite pleased with my performance so far. I may just about be clinging on to 5th, but I'd say about 95% of that is offroad (considering my commute is a total of 2mi each way, 3 times a week).

Notice: Distance challenge for May is now open. Invite only. To receive your invite, you must be a member of "Team Crudcatcher"

Distance wise I reckon I'm 80/20 road/off road, time it's a lot closer. Took a nice 32 mile route home from work yesterday, this weather can stay all it wants!

I went out and did my longest ride for quite some time.

    and it was not planned.

clothing was T, hoodie, jeans and some Oakley "combat" Boots and I was on the fixie.

    I did sleep well though.

11 days off work start tomorrow but the missus wants "quality time" so the chances of me getting any miles in are low :( Would have been happy with 10th or better but unless I can convince her that "quality time" should be spent mountain biking I shall slowly slip further down the ladder like a fat guy on a shale slope.

No bike commute for me today, I forgot to get any food in, so I have nothing to take with me. Bugger. The joys of working in the middle of nowhere have backfired.

I had to bring my car as I have been tasked with going to Chavda at lunch and securing a firepit for the hag so I know how you feel. Painful not biking when the weather's so epic out there.

On the plus side, the Golf does have air-con, which is nice in this weather!

Didn't ride yesterday - too busy decorating. Which has let Shayne take over the lead position. :(

The trouble with taking the lead early is the pressure of staying there :P

I've been ill the last week so haven't done the mileage I wanted but still plenty more for me to catch up on this weekend! Just a shame I have a stupid wedding to go to Saturday

Thanks for the invite to next months, managed to go for a couple of rides this weekend. Now up to 6th! Got another few days left and my aim is to get to 500KM for the month so watch out guys!

Hopefully this'll still be going in October as I have a whopping 1000KM planned for the first week of October that I will be riding, joy!

Oh and on that note, been having massive issues with my longer rides as I set out with 100% battery on my iPhone and come back after 3-4 hours with 3%!

Has anyone got a solution to the iPhone battery isssue? Solar panels or a dynamo charger that won't require me rebuilding my front wheel onto some cumbersome crappy hub?
  • Ah, so you're the Mike who has been battling for 5th with me for a while now.

Don't stop riding now. You've been my inspiration to get out on the bike for the last couple of weeks

Also, note to self, cancel challenge for October

As for your battery issues, are you setting Endomondo to upload automatically? I *think* that you can save on battery by selecting the manual upload function. That way it's only using the GPS and not the data connection.

    Er, yeah, Hi :D

Won't be riding much outdoors for the rest of the week now as I'm back to work tomorrow but I may be able to stick a 50KM one in on Friday depending on what time I finish work.

Gonna get down the gym tomorrow and Thursday though, but you have to work twice as hard for the same distance down there which is a right pain in the arse! Quite literally as well.

Just checked out my settings on the phone and there isn't an option for what you described :-(
May have to look at getting a couple of those battery packs, especially when I start doing all day rides in the next few weeks or so.

Hmm. My HTC trophy 7 gobbles up the battery if I leave "online tracking" switched on. If I turn that off, then the phone lasts as lon as if it wasn't being used at all.
