The Crudcatcher Endomondo Distance Challenge Thread

You've not got a good mile clocking in you.0

Actually, it's just wiped out all 3 challenges in the last hour or so.
WTF is going on?0 -

Sorry, I've only been using Strava the last few months (which I much prefer to endomobvious). as such, this just kinda dropped off my radar.
I've set up new challenges for most distance this month, and most distance through 2013.
I'll probably just leave it at those 2.0 -
Ok, so that didn't work.
On the new Endomondo system, if you select "all sports" it won't let you do a "most km" challenge. It kinda makes sense if you think about it.
Either way, the challenges have now been amended so they'll only include cycle based activities.

I assume "hibernation" really means "secure mental institution", right?
Got to be honest. Since I became a full-roadie and started Strava-ing the back out of everything, I have let these slip.
Membership was flagging a bit as well tbf.
Is there still much interest in this continuing?0 -
Dunno, but just got back on the road bike last week (ssssh, I'm awaiting several expensive bits for the MTB), and had a look on Endomondo. Wasn't sure if you'd just stopped inviting me since I hadn;t done anything so far this year.0
-
Nah, still inviting you. Didn't actually put one up for May though.
You should get on Strava, especially for the roadie, it's PROPERLY addictive. Really gets me to just push that bit harder when I'd otherwise sit back down and grind it out.0 -
I'll grind you out in a minute.
Just got one of those fancy schmancy Garmin GPS units, with cadence and heart rate and all that. Will that work with Strava?
I have developed a childish fondness for passing lycra clad roadies, with my camelback, baggies, and flat pedals, so beating (some of) them on strava might be fun too.0 -
Yeh, I use my edge 500 with Strava. Works in much the same way as Endomondo does, ie, you just upload your ride at the end direct from the GPS unit. It will automatically match your route against segments to put you on the leaderboard.0
-
Cat,
Do you know if Strava can do the group challeneges like Endomondo? Looks like most people use that now. I switched over to Strava as well last year. I only started putting rides from Strava into Endomondo for a couple of months this year cos I knew I'd be doing big miles so thought I'd have a crack at it.

How does privacy work with strava? Surely others must be able to see your route, by the very nature of the thing. Most of my rides start and end at home, and I don't particularly want randomers being able to make out where i live, and what times of day I'm out.0
-
I was curious too. Google tells you, on phone cba to type link.
It's about a privacy zone.0 -
-
With strava, you can hide your route within a given radius of your house, something 50m, 100m, or 200m (I forget the actual thing). Then it ends your rides as you enter this circle around your home.It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

That's no good to Yeehaa, no one would live within that radius of him, so it'd be completely obvious which was his hole.0
-
-
Yeh, as Mule says you can set your privacy zone to whatever distance you want from your house.
No sign of being able to set up your own challenges yet. Although you can form groups.0 -
It's not really any substitute for this then, is it, since we don't generally live or ride near each other.0
-
I don't recall saying it was.0

I meant it more in reply to this, really.Stuart_C wrote:Do you know if Strava can do the group challeneges like Endomondo? Looks like most people use that now. I switched over to Strava as well last year.0 -
Gotcha.
Ok, June challenge set up anyway.

Do I need to get an invite to join in?
Can't get Strava on Windows phone.0 -
You CAN get endomondo though, and this is the endomondo distance challenge.
What exactly do you want to join?0 -
An invite to join the challenge.
What I should have said was that I may as well join in the Endomondo distance challenge as my new fangled Windows phone is so far behind Android and Apple it doesn't even have Strava so I can no longer use that.0 -
I actually really like my windows phone, so to you.
Oh, yeah, the invite. CWNT runs it, so he'll probably be along with some probing questions in a bit. Get yourself washed up and lubed ready for him.0 -
No, you can't play.
Sorry, it's a very exclusive club.

That's June all wrapped up.

Looks like a good few people were out smashing out some big miles in June. I'd quite like to break the 1,000km mark in July. However I fear that may be a pipe dream with a holiday booked in a couple of weeks, and getting off the roadie and back onto the MTB where I belong
On another note, I was wondering how many of you Endo users also use Strava?
I only ask because I can set us up a Crudcatcher Strava group. Make it private so people need a pass to enter. You can't issue challenges like on endo (yet) but I notice there are a few of us using it now (I follow a few of you, in a non-stalkery kind of way).
Any interest in it?0
