Here it is on the way to the dh course, pictured at the very top:

    and for the way down:

I did my first gap jump today, what a buzz and I'm definitely getting a lot faster and managing to 'pop' out of berms. I was in the air for a good 10-12 ft off one of the drop offs today  :D

quick question, do you get any disk brake rub?, had my fury for a few weeks now and get slight rubbing, albeit nothing i can notice while riding, managed to minimize it loosening the QR slightly, not sure if thats a recommended fix though. Nice mods by the way :)
  • I have a vengeance ultimate and I had the same problem all I done was slacken the 2 bolts that hold the brake calliper to the adaptor then hold the brake on and tighten up the two bolts all this does is align the calliper so it shouldn't scuff no more :)

I've done that but no matter what i do, I still get disk rub. I think the caliper is not retracting fully. When I change the brake pads, I'll sort it out.

That's taken at the top of the Kinver DH crouse which was featured in MBUK a couple of months ago. There's a massive variety of jumps and drops to ride and it's got lots of stuff designed so that you can work up. Apparently the MBUK crew didn't really ride anything, which is a bit disappointing when there's so much stuff there. The locals are working on it all the time too. Just the other week, they built a nice gap which is perfect foo doing your first gap on. The landing is so soft, it's untrue. The drop off I was nailing before was a rougher landing. They're also always up there with a spade, keeping everything in good condition. My hat goes off to them

The chainstay protector goes under the cable.

yes, the pedals are. I think i should have got the normall version though as they weigh less and have more pins.

Just tried this after sorting my deraileurs, after my first pathetically slow speed crash, and it worked for me, still a tiny amount of rub, but much better now, thanks for the tip

After the bender fender died in a pretty good crash, I've bodged a neoguard type thing out of an inner tube. I'll get some pics later.

Do you notice any play in your Powerspline BB? Mine rocks back and forth a fraction of mm... Not sure if that's normal play or if it's knackered already. The bearings are smooth as silk.

Same problem here. I think the BB is dead-just check out all the 1.5 star reviews of the BB! some have got through 4 in a year!

Im going to see if the play gets any worse on the next ride-if it does im swapping it for a nice shiny XT one.

Suppose I should get mine back to Halfords, but that means finding the receipt and having it replaced with the same model.

Might just ride it for now.

18 months isn't amazing, but mine is only 2 months old!
I have a bike in the shed that has it's original BB from 1989 still fitted. and another from 1994... I know I put 3000 miles on that BB and it's occasionally rough as hell now but still going.

anyone want to donate to the poor and needy. I've had it nearly 5 months and I need new jockey wheels, chain, cassette and probably a middle chainring. I have done over 1500 miles. I also need shorts, shoes, brake pads and grip cartridge. I really can't afford to carry on.

Have an imaginary pie, pie makes everything better.

Get blue jockey wheels though, while you're at it get blue chainring bolts too.

Also, get a job, jobs help get money. Don't rob a bank, I heard someone on one of the soaps tried to do this at some point recently and it failed miserably and they are going to prison or something. I don't know which one, I assume it's Emmerdale or Corrie, not watched either for ages but I think the Eastenders thing at the moment is still about that stolen baby so I doubt they have time to fit a bank robbery in too.

I'm 14 and literally don't have any time for a job. Out the house at 7:15 and back at 17:15. Saturdays and sundays are filled too.

I'll get blue though, which were the coloured ones again, I forgot?

*observes and builds up shopping list*

How do jockey wheels wear down in 1500 miles? I have a rear mech older than getonyourbike with 4k miles on it and it's still going fine

The wheels I rode on today (including casette) were 21 years old.

    My Fury is with Halfords

I really don't know, the teeth are sharp and spiky now though.

So I'll put a XT cassette on from Rose Bikes, £10 cheaper than from CRC. KMC X9 Chain and I might as well get a new chainset rather than just replace the middle ring. So i'll get a deore one with a BB included so I get rid of the Truvativ crap before it breaks. I'm thinking I might as well pick up a used X7 or X9 mech instead of replacing the jockey wheels. Mines looking pretty bashed up because of all the crashing. I need new cables too, so something sealed perphaps unless i can run full length outer. New grips as the cartridges are shot anyway and I need some with the barends too. New pins as I'm missing one and some loctite to keep them in. Brake pads are pretty urgent and while I'm at it I'll sort out the sticky pistons and replace the cracked washers for the brake caliper.

This is all when/if i get the funds. I'll just run the current drivetrain into the ground and try to make it last as long as possible before I replace it all.

    Take a look at actionsports.de
They have complete slx groupsets for £200 posted.
They also have deore chainsets for £50

£48 for a deore crankset from Rose, pretty decent. £200 is a lot too much money tbh.

That's a great price for the Deore cranks. I wasn't getting close to that in UK shops.

I shall make a note of that for future reference.

It is pretty good but postage is £6 no matter how much stuff you get. XT cassettes are also £10 less than over here. But I've worked out that the deore crankset is cheaper than buying a new middle ring and I also get a new BB as the Truvativ one will break. I get better cranks as well.
