Oh dear lord. Bhima defying the the laws of Sports Science once again?

I think its possible. Ive done better than 3. Did 2 hours with a VI of 1.01 two weeks ago at tempo power and I wasnt even concentrating on the LYC.

Any1 want to see a funny photo of bhima with an enormous ton of yogurt?

I think it's more the power output over 150 mins rather than the 'steadiness'...

Especially when he claims to weigh about 60kg...

Either he is a pathological liar, has a broken Powerap or can actually put out that sort of power. Maybe we are all just jealous.

Good luck to him if he can but I've ridden with him a few times, I know my power, I know his power and tbh, something doesn't add up.

Plus the fact that he's somehow missed the few TT's he's said he was going to do over the past couple of seasons.

Even if he could only do 310W for an hour that would mean 5.16W/Kg [@60KG] puts him in the domestic pro range. above Cat 1.

I'm tempted to go on a ride with him sometime but it seems a faf, every other ride is less convenient unless it starts at the Gateway or the Hilton.
  • I'm worried that in the future internet archaeologists who come across some of the quotes of his feats might think that we worshipped him as a God.

You mean other than getting it bang on and discovering us for the w*nkers we are ;)

You should have put an "unsafe at work" spoiler with that post....

Where do you work? As far as I know it's trips and falls from height you need to be watching for; not small seasonal birds and norks.

I did. I fell off my chair, and tripped over the power cable on the way down. PC fell on my head and fractured my skull. I am going to be off work for several weeks all because of a thoughtlessly casual post. If it had been a starling or a thrush, none of this would have happened; people need to think about the consequences of the images they show.

I saw your reply on the wheelers forum, where did he say he is going to win it?

I find it unlikely he will.

I find it unlikely he'll turn up!

I see Bhima several days each week as we share the Cat n Fiddle climb. Sometimes I even ride with him.

Yes, he's entered a few races (and several hill climbs) and yes he will turn up. Will he win? I'd say he has a good shot.

His power claims (these days) are accurate. His racing skills are probably suspect but I'm guessing he may just try and ride off the front on a hilly section! That's why he chooses hilly races.

And I think he sort of implied on his Facebook posts that he was going to win the Bole Hill race.

If it's only a 3rd/4th Cat race and his power numbers are remotely close to what he claims then no reason why he couldn't win. But there is a massive difference between being fit to ride up a hill a few times at a pace of your choosing and being race fit.

He has the FTP of an Elite. He just needs to get some race experience and manage the accelerations. He could probably ride off the front of a 4ths only from the start and TT his way to a win.

Well, good luck to him then. If he could also find a picture of Ezy Rider's decals, life would be perfect.

According to Coggan's table I had the ftp of a 1st Cat last year, but I'm not and likely never will be....

Let's be honest, either US categories are considerably weaker than UK ones, or the table is just bunk. I suspect a bit of both.

I'm talking about UK levels, not the US coggan table. He's around 5.5-6 w/kg FTP IIRC.
