    Hardly unexpected!

It wouldn't of been so bad if he hadn't of gone and blocked someone else too. Right decision really, otherwise the next sprint would be even more ugly.

Soon we will have a sport devoid of any spectacle whatsoever. Does Renshaw have any right of appeal?

Yeah, probably to the same guy who relegated Cav last year. I hear Bob Stapleton once ran over his cat.

Why wasn't McEwen DQ'd back in the day? (pic above) Seems very harsh.

McEwen was relegated, but not Dqed.

Harsh on Renshaw but it's been coming for a while, not only in Le Tour but since the crash in Suisse and the sprints in Criterium du Dauphiné.

Maybe now the sprinters will be a bit more respectful

head headbutting easy now as helmets stick many inches out- more than a bare head..in past era headbutting couldn't happen easily without pain or losing balance. Probably a good thing the riders get this expulsion warning

Renshaw should lay another one on whoever made that decision.

Doesn't supprise me. He can hold his line without resorting to headbutts.

Utterly pathetic. Dean moved off line so Renshaw protected his position. Arguably in a safer way than locking arms or bars. Wouldn't have needed to if Dean wasn't being dodgy in first place. Wouldn't have been dq'd if he wasn't cavs leadout man

Renshaw's move was too agressive, too obvious with TV cameras. A shoulder or an elbow and he'd be on the race.

    Robbie Hunter RobbieHunter

Just watched the sprint finish & Renshaw should not do that shit..good to see the coms booted his arse out the race. 15 minutes ago via UberTwitter

Robbie, of course, has never been involved in any argy bargy in a sprint.

I suppose I agree with you here

fining or relegating the lead out man is hardly a disincentive

Shoe was on the other foot Dean wouldn't have been disqualified.

Hunter is hypocritical turd. Nothing to do with fact his mate was trying to block sprint because cannot compete in speed

    Too harsh.

He should have been sent to the back and fined.

Excessive imo. I think relegation to last place with a warning that anything similar would see him booted out of the race would have been sufficient.

its a hard call but your right hooking each other up is way more dangerous than heads and less obvious... thou the counter argument is you should be head banging each other either..

I dont think he can complain dean hadn't hooked him up he had just placed himself in a position where renshaw couldn't pull over to open the door for cav...

good tactic really by Garmin though Farrar messed it up by not capitalising

cav to his credit read it well and went early through the only gap left.. which would be closed if didn't go early

I'd guess it was a thin line between this and the actual punishment. Like I said with everything that's happened in sprints recently probably pushed the commisaires to the other side of that line

Yes. They have booted Renshaw out of the race.
The best decision! The thug factor has no place in any peloton. Bully boy tactics shouldn't be tolerated. Very good! ...

Sprinters eh, give me the climbers any day.

If you can't win straight up then you deserve no respect.

Agree with this, I think Cav's lack of popularity has brought this about. Despite the crashes in the TDS and TDF Cav is not a dirty sprinter and I don't think Renshaw is either.

Will be interesting to see how Cav gets on without him, Eisel will be a very good replacement for that role though no doubt it will weaken his train overall. Would be nice to see Cav do a McEwan and win a few sprints from his rivals wheels.

    I too follow this logic.

Is it bad that i feel that if he was not Cav's leadout man he would still be in the race? or am i over thinnking this?

the Irony of it all is it was Cav's thinking not renshaw's that won that sprint today

renshaw got himself booted off the race for no good reason in the end analysis

Renshaw responded to Dean trying to push him out the way.

OK the bit after where Renshaw moved into Farrar's line was a bit more dodgy but not enough to get DQ'd over. What a load of guff!

What I don't get is why do it? I don't agree with violence, but with the half the world's press watching and recording you, you were going to get caught. Surely if you are going to assault someone you'd do it a bit better than what looked like a horse trying to nuzzle into you.

From 5.30 they have the slo mo of the stupid headbutts (plural) and the obvious block.

Barredo whacked that other chap over the head with a wheel in full view of cameras and spectators and is still racing!
