180 km from Sisteron to Bourg-lès-Valence. Looking forward to some nice shots of Sisteron, it's quite a spectacular place, going by my memory of footage from the 2003 Tour.

Will Cav go for intermediate sprints, I wonder, or was yesterday's dig just to remind who's quickest?

Hopefully some super fast speeds. I guess the sprinter's teams will need to keep an eye on the time gap if there is a breakaway as it will might be tougher to pull them back.

And I've watched "Hoellentour a few times recently...

Not Hoellentour but I think this shares some of the same footage (like the Galibier summit flyover).

I think the town at 1:53 is Sisteron. Not sure though, happy to be corrected.

    never got over the stockeau

Parcours in the last 20-30 k puts a lot of side/side tail wind on the bunch if the wind keeps up

I wonder if Dave Z will do anything at all this Tour.

Keeping a low profile on purpose maybe or simply doesn't have the same abilities...

Well, Z rode pretty well in support of VDV and Wiggo the last two years, but with VDV out this year I guess he is riding in support of Hesjedal. I haven't really seen any evidence of this, but haven't been looking for it either.

Sisteron is spectacular - incredible views of the Alps and the steep gorge from the citadel. And it's only about 20-30 miles from Ventoux and just up the road from Digne-les-Bains so handily placed.

Sky news keep having Cavendish on today. Have your own team, put the guy on from the American team

    That's because he actually wins.

As respectable as 17th on GC is, it's a hard sell to the audience who might have been fed higher expectations about Wiggins.

Hype and expectations aside, I think that Wiggins generally deserves more credit that he is getting for the way he is going. It is a credible performance, in more ways than one. Would people really prefer it if he were giving Contador a hard time?

WTF, this is meant to be the hardest race in the World.

I expect them to ride at 60km/h for the duration of the descent.

I see it now as 33 av and 18 current....maybe they have poor calculations

Wegelius was hit by the intestinal virus, and is unable to retain any food or drink

Maybe that is why he wasn't helping VDB much, although I wasn't really looking out for him.

    From Cnews.

There is a competition each day for an aero wheelset.
Underneath there is a hint to the question
The link in the hint gives the answer.......

I wonder who is bank rolling those Eastons....can't see what they are gaining

I watch Sky Sports News a bit and they've been quite sensible in their coverage. They give the impression that they're just happy to be there really

No offence intended but you are almost becoming a parody of yourself here!

It's because it's the hardest race that they can't ride like maniacs. It's a three week stage race that is usually decided by a few moments, a huge feat of endurance can't be sustained at 60km/h. Now a Belgian kermesse...

I thought he was joking

Contador saying in Spanish papers that is really difficult to ride fast in this conditions due to the heat. Apparently his computer was showing 47C yesterday. They are all very tired, even at this pace and these short stages.

Boonen crashed in Cali (someone elses fault) and injured his knee.

He was coming back to form but after Mr Cavendish took him out in Suisse he has had bad problems.

He was targetting the Green Jersey but was unable to compete.

He has now had an operation and is off the bike for a month.

    Pretty annoyed.

I'm not doubting that it's hot, but these readings are a little false, as they're sat in a group of riders who are sweating and giving off heat so it will obviously be warm.

It's the direct sunshine as well as the tarmac being hot, there are not "in the shade" readings.
