  • You'll have to anchor the bike down so that it doesn't float off with the first gust of wind, its that light

Nice saddle, do like those SLRs
  • If Im honest, still not happy re: brake situation. As what I REEEEAAAAALLLLY want is some blue Formula R1s ;) But couldnt justify buying them.....

LOL, I have to keep it chained down for lots of reasons :)

    some pimp suggestions
    1. matchmaker clamps
    2. ti eggbeaters
    3. ti post
    4. ti or ti coloured stem
    5. white brake hoses
    6. odi grey lock on grips
    7. alligator ti nitrided rotors
    8. white rims red hubs gold skewers
    9. alligator i-link ger cables in gold
the ti post and stem can be had off a bloke on ebay for less than £100 for the 2 items he also does ti eggbeater spindles so just buy a pair of cheaper pedals and the £30 spindles.
another £500 ish and you will have a sweeter looking bike. although my opinion is based on me taking nice looking bikes and chavving them up until they look like dale wintons christmas tree

    1. Matchmakers are next purchase
    2. Had some and sent them back as I didn't think they were worth all the money
    3. Carbon all the way for me Im afraid.
    4. Againl, no Ti and I can't find any coloured stem that I llke after months of searching
    5. Nope, didn't go with the black Avids, but not totally ruling it out (yet) ;)
    6. Never shall grey be seen on any of my bikes LOL, and lock ons add weight and look crap on svelte racebikes
    7. Maybe
8.Colour overload, it's quite bright as it is but keep it predominantly blue with flashes of white and red
    9. Really don't like them TBH, they look too much

Spending any more 'silly' money on this is pointless now, I wouldnt be doing it for weight at all as shes light enough as it is, it's a very fine line with blinging a bike out a bit, to making it look like a barry boys Corsa ;)

Matchmakers do however make sense...... :)

check out the new £39.99 lightweight cnc stem from on-one its basically the sunline xc model but available in gold black and silver only 111grams for the 60mm .just ordered the gold one for my mmmbop
i find chavving a bike up to look as spangly as elton johns wardrobe gets me lots of respect from teenagers.

  • LOL!!!

These are really floating my boat at the moment to be honest. Seem top drawer kit at good prices

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Merek-Carbon-Road ... 3ca93c6c91

Made in the same factory as everything else carbon, so why pay more when the designs of these are even better than Ritchey/Easton blah blah.....

    :D

Couldn't put anything less than a 90mm on the Marin, would ruin it's handling!

Only on AM/Fr/DH rigs with longer travle forks should have shorter stems

Adding anymore colour would be suicide... fine line ;)

i love the all the not so common bits from Taiwan and china and as you say its all made in the same factories as the other big brands, ive found lots of instances of the same component being used by many manufacturers and wildy varying prices.

Yeah I think the Ti stem is fine with a Ti frame. On a scandium blue and white bike it would look awful. I'm also not a fan of gold components minus the KMC chains in gold.

    my opinions are based on
i think a bit of ti colour would suit the chain and the stanchions
i-links in any colour are lighter and smoother than normal cables
the wheels would look lighter and compliment the white on the frame the red hubs would provide good contrast to the frame
the grips would give a bit of contrast on the bars without looking grubby after a few rides.
you cannot say these components will look stupid until you see them fitted
my bikes have always split opinions some hate and some love them
and as i originally stated these were my opinions and i admittedly spoil some bikes but sometimes i get it right
the marin looks amazing as it stands and the bits i suggested would simply stamp my own individuality on it

a lot a selle italia test saddles are being sold on ebey at the moment they are just like the normal saddles but have a big gold sticker on them saying "test saddle" shops get them for nothing then sell them at much lower prices. i saw a blue fibra slr saddle a bit since for 60 odd quid. there are some black flites on there at the mo for £30
