Just been out across some grassy(.....) banks, water logged and muddy lol, washed the bike and have a nice fresh muddy t-shirt to wear tomorrow. Will be investing in some better tyres I think, theses "specialized the captain" were all over the place!! Not sure how they will cope tomorrow :)

How many are still coming tomorrow? I've waited patiently for 2 weeks for this!

The Captain were the tyres my bike came with. I've not had any real problems with them but they certainly slide a lot when the going gets muddy.

I just know tomorrow is going to be muddy :)
  • No problem Caz.......am goin' to go now, get some shut eye, will keep my eyes peeled on the way for you, i'll be in a burgundy mondeo with 2bikes on back and davewalsh with me, see you 2moz.............nite all......':D'

So when you say the Ladybower visitors centre, is that the same as the Upper Derwent Visitor? If not, can someone please provide a postcode or google maps reference.

    Thanks

The post code is S33 0AQ, but it places you the other side of the reservoir !
53°24'1.53"N - 1°44'29.77"W is the precise location of the centre.

Sorry, I'm still not clear. If I put that postcode in I get the Upper Derwent Valley Visitors Centre - is that the correct place? or are we meeting near the Ladybower Inn?

Just seen the weather forecast while munching my cornflakes and the storm that is bringing the shitty weather is a lot further East than expected.

It's just possible we could have a dry day!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • Guys - it was good to meet you all. Thoroughly enjoyable, I just need to improve my technique both uphill on mud and downhill (on anything)

By the way - just washed the bike with muc off and it's cleaner than before! Good job because I have to keep it inside (live in a flat) and the girlfriend wouldn't be too impressed if my lounge smellt of sheep sh1t :)

Well, at least you know now that I wasn't joking about walking uphill!!!!!!!

Thanks for turning out guys, it's been a great day and we couldn't have asked for better weather at this time of year. I've thrown the bike and all my gear in the garage and it can stay there till tomorrow when hopefully I can still walk and sort it all out.

Huge thanks to Richie for filling in the blanks and being official ride photographer. Hope you all made it home safely and looking forward to someone arranging the next one on their local trails.

    Hope everyone enjoyed it.
