Hi everyone, I was looking at this thread and thinking I would like to join you all. Looking at getting there by train and as its the bank holiday, they have rail repairs! Anyone driving up from London that day? I am willing to share petrol and jokes?

Hiya, you're more than welcome to join us but I don't know of anyone coming from London. The closest group members we have are in Reading or Aylesbury but I'm not sure if they're coming.

    Thank you anyway Cheshley :)

great ride, nice loop, thought the beast is a challenge whilst being clipped in
(also with a steep head angle)
a few climbs, a few descents (generaly go with the climbs)
got to see clash of the titans
and a bush that grew moble phones
a dog that liked rolling in puddles
and a regular group of walkers (they were regular cause we passed thema couple of times. and when we passed them as they were leaving in there car they all waved)
and woman walking who passed us a couple of times
18 bikes in hope is in a great place. its acutlly a flytrap for bikers, you go in looking for bike stuff, but the shop is in a little courtyard with a cafe on one side (with tables and chairs outside) and a curry house on the other. so once your in that little courtyard its very difficult for your average mtb'er to leave. if it wasnt for the great rideing in the peaks we'd probably still be there

Very much enjoyed the ride today guys although I'm sore. Part aching muscles, part sunburn and part grazes from going arse over tit on the beast :/

    Good day! :D

Ha Ha, you sat there for ages thinking up that Clash of the Titans line Roo!!!!!

Another great day out with the Slow Riders, although I was the slowest one there  . Apologies for causing the delayed start but huge thanks to the guys at Eighteen bike shop who got me on my way in no time at all.

If we had been sat in that courtyard at 5pm when the curry house opened I think we'd have been there for the evening!!!!!

Nice Videos! Tempted by one of those cameras now! :)
Didnt appreciate how nice a day it was until it started chucking it down 5 minutes after setting off home! Spent most of the today cleaning grit from my drive train though and my legs ache, signs of a good day out.

You didn't see the most slow or unfit because the camera man was at the front, and I was at the back walking a lot of the uphill bits

Come along mate, the pace is easy, the ones at the back (me usually) get waited for and we have a good laff along the way.

My chain is soaking in a bottle of parafin and the rest of it will get cleaned tomorrow or Tuesday for local trips out Wednesday and Friday in readiness for Cannock on Sunday. Can't wait :D

I'll admit I like to go fast on the downhill bits for the buzz but always happy to wait. Gives me chance to have a fag! Smoking, how's that for being fit?!
  • Videos are excellent. What camera did you use? Deffo up for cannock on the 29th. Am from Cov whoever was asking.

If I ever go for cosmetic surgery I will opt for my Bike to be permanently grafted to my backside. That way it gets cleaned when I do and oiled when I do. Ha Ha!

You people look like you have a load of fun, can not wait to join you.
