    possibly Lee Quarry in September, Dan tried a route at the weekend that links in with another quarry nearby and says there's enough riding for a day out. I'm trying to do a couple of locations now that don't involve 100+ mile drives and overnight stays before we look at going further afield again, mainly because I can't go on those!!!!!!! :lol:

    Did anyone get the Independent newpaper on Saturday? They had a section listing the top 50 bike rides and under the MTB section Glentress came out top for UK locations.

    Coed y Brenin is a great trail centre with trail unlike any i have ridden at any of the others i been to.
    The pace was back to the original slow rides pace. This made a nice change as the rides have been getting quicker and quicker of late.
    The climbs were long and hard but so was the singletrack, the best way to describe the singletrack would be as a singletrack trail version of the peaks, lots of rocks and a few roots as well.
    Some of these trails are hard on the bike with more mechanicals and puntures than we have ever had on a slow ride.
    A quick mechanical summery is
    5 punctures
    1 seatpost that came off its rails
    1 rear mech playing up
    1 adjustable seatpost cable malfunction
    Even with all that only one rider had to turn back. (It is hard to ride with no seat on)
    The trails were well signposted and there was even a tea garden half way around (just before a massively long climb) where we stopped for dinks and camelback top ups
    The best sections of trail had to be Gomez to the pink heifer, must of been over half an hour of mostly descending (at least it felt like it)
    Coffee, cakes and other goodies at the trail centre after finished off a great ride

    it's because we are getting fitter roo. i was really impressed on the chilterns ride with how much we had come along in a short time.

    +1 for Lee Quarry

    My list would be Mostly around the Dark and White Peak areas as this seems pretty central to most of us.
    Dark Peak;
    Hathersage Moor, Houndkirk Moor and Blacka Plantation.
    Bradwell, Stanedge Edge, Burbage Moor, Hathersage.
    Castleton, Mam Tor, Oxlow Rake, Cavedale.
    Castleton, Sunken Road, Dirtlow Rake, Pindale, Bradwell Edge
    Edale, Rushup Edge, Roych Clough, Jacobs Ladder :twisted:
    Hayfield, Middle Moor, Lantern Pike, Peep O Day.
    Hayfield, Mount Famine, Coldwell Clough, Broad Clough, Kinder Reservoir, Snake Path
    I'm more than happy to lead a ride around any of these routes as I have done most of them myself and as for the bits I haven't done i'm pretty good at reading a map.

    White Peak;
    I don't know this area so well but there is loads of riding around, Bakewell, Darley Dale and Chatsworth you just need to get the guide books and an OS map

    Then what about, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, the trail centre at Dalby Forest etc

    Roo, worth mentioning that if you liked CyB then you should try Penmachno, it's very similair but without the comforts of tea rooms etc and is altogether a much more rugged, natural and wild version of CyB
  • Hi Guys,

    Me again :)

    On the subject of Slow Rides clothing, I now have two supply sources, the first being the T shirt printer who can do pretty standard Coolmax sports Tees at £15.00 a throw.

    I have also got a company www.thecyclejersey.com

    Who can print on proper cycle jerseys, either roadie style with three rear pockets or else free ride style in both short and long sleeve. These have costings based on order quantity of;
    15 jerseys @ £32 each
    20 jerseys @ £28.80 each
    40 jerseys @ £27.20 each

    These guys can do many colour options but have suggested muted colours as being better than primary colours, they will send me some proof images once I can confirm what colour we want the base jersey to be, mixing up colours will cost considerably more!
    At the risk of being here for ever getting a concensus on colour ways can we have a vote on just how many of you would be interested in buying these jerseys just to see if we can get to 15 in the first place and secondly what colour do we want, my suggestion is a pale or mid blue or else a mid green so what do you guys think?
    I'll also post this on the Facebook page.

    Lee and Cragg Quarry could be quite good as long as people dont mind riding a section of footpath with lifting the bikes over a few gates to link the 2 quarrys together. Both Quarrys are quite short though but you could easily make it last longer by doing Lee Quarry , Cragg Quarry and then finishing with another loop of either the red or black of Lee quarry.

    Other good ones are Dunsop Bridge, Macc Forest, or anything in the Peaks :D

    I've never been over towards Hayfield but have seen a lot of routes published over that way and there was a route in a Mag a while ago in Macc Forest that I fancied the look of but it was only a short one. Dalby got mentioned a while ago but not many people fancied that idea. To do the full Red run is going to be a return to the original Slow Rides pace for me and woudl probably take me all day, but I still want to have a go at it.

    I want to see if Si can get up Jacobs Ladder :lol:

    The guy I did my skills course with is doing a ride in the North Yorkshire Moors on September 25th and I'm goping to try to get to that. It's being done for people who are friends on his Facebook page but anyone is welcome to turn up.

    Raj has been in the Peak District today and might be going again next Saturday. He's going to confirm early in the week.

    Anyone fancy a day out?

    Hi Roo,

    It's not online yet but there's one that goes from:

    Hope > Castleton > Chapel Gate > Edale > Reservoir > Hagg Farm > Derwent

    Overall its 32 miles, but I took a few short cuts as have a long ride back home. Have bought a map holder to make it easier
