had mixed performance with my louises, got fed up of them either breaking or needing new pads. so they're now sat in the garage gathering dust and a lovely set of hopes are doing stopping duties far better than the maguras ever did. get some formula r1's you know you want too0
-
Absoulutely gorgeous mate! some nice red Hope floating rotors would look spiffing on there
Looking to get a P7 frame to swap all my bits over to eventually0 -
scottbowlby
I have CL hubs so can't get hope rotors :P
Thought about it, but I only want small splashes of red hehe.
lawman
Thought about hopes... but i've never liked them
And the lever on the R1 doesn't look very comfortable!
The louise got a great review in MBUK as one of the most powerful and consistent trail brakes! I think it came 3rd in the test!0 -
the r1's are massivley comfy to use, tried them on a few bikes and they are the dogs imo, i like quite a hooked lever, like the hopes and r1's and they are really good imo, people say the elixers have a great shape but i hate them so its down to preference i guess0

w00p. SRAM XO redwin rear derailleur, SLX cassetter, Thomson seapost. Also got my x9 gear shifters.
Bought the wrong size front mech though DOH! tis too big! So that'll go back and be replaced!
All I need are brakes, gear outer, a few bolts, chain guide and a saddle
Off on holiday next week but hopeful the weekend i'm back it should all be finished0 -
Looking very nice indeed pal! What brakes you going for then?0

Magura Louise Carbon
Gonna order them tonight, as they're out of stock so they should be here when I get home!0 -

Good choice with the X-0 mech. I used mine for the first time tonight and it's just awesome. I'll tell you right now that I'll never go back to Shimano for this kind of bike.
Got to be 100% honest with you though mate, not entirely sold on that shimano bash.0 -

+1
SRAM = the best and that bash is absolutely fine but not fitting with such a carefully equipped bike0 -
If you like that bash then furry muff, and I know you put a fair bit of work into it to get it to fit. But personally, I'd go for one of these in either black, white, or even red. I think it would look good because it's a lot lower profile than that shimano one so dosent draw attention from the rest of the bike quite so much.0

Yea thats the alternative i'm looking at
Think I might as well just buy it lol.
Saddle, brakes and gear cable all on order now.... Clee Cycles have run out of red bolts though grrrrr!!0 -
What colour though? I'm thinking the blakc with the silver writing would look pretty much spot on?0
-
Yep, I'd go black with silver writing, should tie in with the black bars, stem, wheels and seatpost nicely. Red might be a bit lairy (says the guy with the bright orange bars and cranks).0

Mint, you know it makes sense!0

What saddle and brakes did you go for Ben?
Also, the raceface bash guard linked to looks alot better IMHO, should look sweetOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Charge spoon in black with red writing and magura louise carbon white
I'll be selling the rotors though!0 -
just plonked a charge spoon TI on the salsa, nice saddle it is nice choice0
-
Xt brakes, Ragley saddle and superstar MAG CNC pedals bought
Got the correct front derailleur from crc and all my cables too!!
Should be built up next week for me to ride at the weekend w00p.
Still got the bolts from Clee to wait for... but they have non in stock at the mo
I also want a crudcatcher!0 -
Sweet!
Which version of the Cheeky did you go for?
I guarantee you'll be impressed. When they sent mine, they sent the saddle, with free upgrade to the Ti version, some cadburys mini eggs, a few Biketart stickers, and some frame tape.
That alone made it worthwhile
Good choice with the XT brakes too, although I'm not sure what your issue is with Avid :?0 -
I went for the natural saddle, thought it looked pretty nice... didn't spend the extra tenner on the Ti though
Got some heli tape from biketart at the same time... thought I might as well
I just don't like all the spacers with avid brakes... I found them very to be a PITA to set up correctly with no disk "shing" or rubbing. That and they're a bitch to bleed bacause they don't really have a fluid reservoir.
Got the XT's from merlin, which come unbled and in seperate parts, so I can cut the cables to length and bleed myself
Shimano are piss easy when it comes to bleeding brakes!0 -
I got the natural one too, think it looks better than the plain logo one. Black and Red is it? or did you go white and red? or?
I know what you mean about the spacers on Avid brakes, it is a proper pita. I find the Avid brakes easier to bleed than shimano and hope though, but I guess it's just down to individual preference.0 -
I just went for the black with white picture/writing.... don't really need any more red hehe.
Damn I can't wait to ride this thing
I'm off to put fuel in the tank now so I can go early at the weekend!0 -
hehehe, never mind actually, I just checked and I was mistaken, there is no option for red anyway.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.0 -
why the xt's? i thought louises would have been luuurvely... ah well. the cheeky looks ace! although IMHO the spoon is even nicer...I like bikes and stuff0
