So i've now got a white Orange P7 on order... so i've been thinking about how I should spec it/build it.
Idea so far...
Hope pro2 hubs on XM719 rims (I don't want UST)
RS revelation 140mm dual air fork
Elixir Carbon Brakes
Thinking about a Hammer Schmidt AM but i'm not yet convinced by them so looking at a RF Atlas double crankset if I think the HS is just gonna be too expensive or a Middleburn Duo Crankset or XT Crankset... I can't really decide...
RF Atlas AM bars/stem
XT gearing all round or should I go SS....erm no
Humm..

what you going to use it for?
good choce of forks and don't build an ss so the xt gearing is good choice too0 -
All sounds good apart from the HScrankset, it doesn't end there, you have to have a specific shifter, all in all the crankset and shifter etc would cost approx £700.... I wouldn't even put that on a £4k rig matey.. its a lot of dough for something that to me is a bit of a gimmick.
Revs, raceface crank/finishing kit/XT gearing sounds like a great build, the elixirs seem to be getting great reviews, but why not some nice hopes? With all the trimmings...... I had them and they are awesome, spares readily available and made in England !!!!0 -
Yea the hs is definately atthe back of my mind.
Thought about hope brakes to match headset and hubs but i've never been convinced by them... Seem to be fairly chinky and weighty compared to the avids0 -
Great choice of frame0

sounds nice, id go with sram for gearing and slx for chainset though. id use thomson stem and post for no reason other than they are nice and pricey. and i would use tubeless but i have found suitable tyres i really like, i wouldnt go tubeless if it meant compromising on my fave tyres.
when will we see pics?0 -

I decided I don't like thomson stuff. not particularly light and way too expensive for what it is.
Reason i'm looking at XT Gearing is because of the awesome deal at merlin, and I like it...lol.
Obviously going for a white/black colour scheme as an opposite to the NS0 -
A better frame?

Reminds me of the P7.

Get a Cotic Soul man! Reynolds 853, and a pound lighter!0

To stiffen it up. For 20 quid more, no brainer! (if it fits of course...)

I'd rather a rocklobster than that!
Its a 100mm HT that they've decided is "ok" with 140mm forks... hmmm0 -
That passes all the CEN regs. One tough frame. And 4.3lbs for the 17.5 inch.0
-
i'd take a 19" anyways :P
Don't know why you'r continuing this though lol...at least I haven't bout a Zaskar :roll:0 -
You shoould have - 3lbs and takes a 130mm fork! And I paid £600...0
-
Geometry/sizing is all over the place though! I've had 1st had experience of this0
-
Yeah, yours was too small!0
-
BUT! Looking at geometry, the XLarge would be tooo large! In fact the TT length of the Large is 36mm longer than my NS is!
It was a very cramped frame, always felt like I was going over the bars + I couldn't really pedal the thing.... felt like a roadie0 -
So why was it cramped?! Put 130mm fork on, higher rise bars and bobs your uncle! Is what I have done!0
-
-
You mean like a Cotic?!
Ha, I can see I won't change your mind lol.0 -
LOL! I don't like it :P
I chose the P7 for its geometry more than anything... its spot on for how I want to ride. Plus it looks great and I do like Orange bikes!0 -
What fork length are the angles for on the P7? Doesn't really say on the site.0
-
-
Quite steep then I suppose!0
