have u used the 2.1 before? they are very skinny, i think thats how the weight is so low. mind you, they are the ones i had and they were pretty good still.0
-
Nah, I had the 2.35. They did actually come up at 2.35 when fitted, but were a bit toooo draggy... just like al bigger tyres!
I like skinny tyres though, got minion 2.35's on the NS, and they're more like a 2.1/2.2!0 -
got my thomson stem today so I can put the front end together... seems spot on!
Also looks really good with the easton cnt bars!
Deffo want to get the spacer in the forks though!
I'd like to get my headset spacers, tyres and tooobs next so I can see if I need a layback post of not.
ATM I think not... but I'd like to have a perch on the bike hehe!
Sorry no pics :P

Lovely looking frame that!!
But...
When Supersonic questioned buying the P7 over the Cotic Soul, you remarked....bigbenj_08 wrote:Yawn! whats with the horrible looking brace by the rear brake mount?!
But hold on a second, whats that horrible looking brace by the rear brake mount on the P7? lol0 -
but the one on he cotic is ugly! the holes in it are facing the wrong way too!
the orange one is all curvy and nice looking0 -

small tyres on a HT?!!?!?!?!??!?!?!!?!? i dont care if its dragy, slow, or heavy, the back of a HT NEEDS a big tyre, i run a 2.5 HR on the back, anything less that 2.35 is silly, if you dont have FS, the extra squish, comfort, and punct*** resistance is vital!
Ignitors are great but a 2.1 is ideotic in my opinion.I like bikes and stuff0 -
oh, and nice build by the way....... loving the white revs...
still preffer the 456 mind...I like bikes and stuff0 -
Hey Benj,
Couple of things:
1) Is your frame the Pearl White or Cloud White (Pearl White being the standard P7 colour), I ask as in your blog you mention that the forks are a perfect match for the frame?
2) In your blog you said your wheels were Mavic 319s, just thought you'd like to knowOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

I've run 2.2 on the NS up in Scotland and in London when I was doing a bit of freeriding... had no issues at all. I've got minions 2,35's on there atm... they're more like a 2.1-2.2" tyre!0 -

On a bit of a MTB downer atm.. annoyed I can't get the Magura Louise and I really can't decide what i'm doing gearing wise
Plus i'm off to Scotland + just bought a new car
I might get my arse in gear and get some headset spacer + fork oil so I can get the front end built up. If I spot and Louise brakes i'm ready to snap them up sharpish, but I just can't find em!
Might stick with XT as per the plan, but I like the look of the Louise!
Think i'm going to put a bash + chain guide on, making it a dual setup but I can't decide on a bash, chainring or chainguide.
Am under alot of stress atm at work so apart from that its a bit of a slow month for me0 -

Stop that at once young man!
2 x 9 setup. Maybe XT shifters and front mech with Saint rear mech, Goodridge outer. I'm planning on using a Saint rear mech on the GT for ruggedness and full length Goodridge outers, perfect for UK trail centres/weatherbigbenj_08 wrote:Plus i'm off to Scotland + just bought a new car

XT brakes are great, more powerful than the Louise, they are OK if you're relatively light but not great if you're a heavier rider, if you like the Saint brakes, you'll love the XTbigbenj_08 wrote:Think i'm going to put a bash + chain guide on, making it a dual setup but I can't decide on a bash, chainring or chainguide.
E13 DRS all the way, with an e13 guidering - great kit - simples [/quote]bigbenj_08 wrote:Am under alot of stress atm at work so apart from that its a bit of a slow month for me
That's what I'n here for to make these decisions for you!!!0 -
there you go, no excuse now! get buying0

i have a set of 2007 louise's if your interested benj, going really cheap, front needs a new lever and they could with bleeding, but as i say im selling them really cheap. £40 quid the pair if your interested, some pics in are in the thread in my sig0

Meh
Just not in the mood atm... think its becasue i've had no time to ride/mess with the NS let alone the P7 recently.
Was planning on getting gearing this month but like I said... just can't decide!
I was going for the XT kit from Merlin... which I think i'll do. hmm.0 -
What you reckon to putting full saint gearing on the P7... overkill?
Whats the weight between saint and XT?0 -
look on ebay you silly

lol.. nah am gonna stick with the XT methinks.
Just deciding what route to go on shifters now before I buy.
Don't know if I should go saint again or XT.
Or saint derailleurs with xt shifters.
Can xt shifters work well with a 2x9 setup?0 -

Ben, I would go for:
XT brakes
XT shifters and front mech
Saint Medum cage rear mech
Goodridge outer (use the XT innter)
Perfect UK conditions drivtrain.
I run Full XT on the Sanction and it's great, although when I have some 'spare cash' shall be purchasing a Saint rear mech, all Saint is overkill for a trail bike but as you know the mechs are superb and it's piece of mind on the rear end0 -
does the xt front mech + shifter work with 2x9?
oh and which front deraileur type? I know the P7 is 31.8... but top/bottom/conventional... argghh!0 -

Yep, any front mech will work with a double up front, but obviously a 'souble only' mech won't work on a triple.
What cable routing does the frame have? Top or bottom?
google your bike and spot what mech it has on it (top or bottom swing)
Dual pull mech
31.8mm / 34.9mm come as one, but you use a shim for the 31.9mm (included) - that's what I have on the Marin.0 -
