Tempted to take the mudguards of the hybrid.... is this just asking for it to R?0

Gave the bike a thorough clean yesterday, in preparation to get it dirty again in the next few days. The job was so much easier with the new hosepipe, until it broke out of the clip fitting, then it was back to the old bucket and sponge :roll:0

With a bit of adjusting from a Dremmel type tool I fashioned a mount for my camera to fit the rear reflector bracket and cateye bracket.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Good work, fettling before 7am, now there's a sign of dedication!
Well, finally finished-ish. Haven't had time for a test ride, so suspect there'll be some tuning to do tomorrow. Also, the chain should be replaced, but don't want to put a new chain on an old (9spd) cassette for just a couple of days until I get the new 10spd wheel back.
Can't post any pictures because there's Flickr won't upload the pictures. Will try again tomorrow.
The Scott needs a serious clean, a new chainset, new chain, new cassette and new jockey wheels for the rear mech. Ouch. The Scott may be laid up for a few weeks...FCN 2-4.

Sounds a bit expensive CJCP - bummer!
After getting back yesterday and having a little snooze and watching the end of the Paris-Roubaix, I adjusted my rear mech but think it may need replacing soon, either that or my chain.
Adjusted brakes and tweeked both wheels that were out a little._________________________________________________

Somehow managed to shoehorn a complete drive train clean and general wipe down and lube of the rest of the bike into a day of looking after Little M, as Mrs RJS was working. Got everything back together just as the sun was going down and it was starting to get cold. All runs lovely and smooth now
Also spotted another thing that Pearson didn't tell me about at the last service: the two parts of the rear brake adjuster have seized together (can see the scuffs where they tried to unseize them), so that barrel adjuster they inserted wasn't just to avoid taking the cable outer out from under the bar tape. A good (cheap) fix to the problem, but would have been nice for them to just mention it.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

I adjusted my seat slightly more forward as I was having to push myself back onto the back of the seat, I might need a shorter stem methinks!!0

Done the usual over the weekend (cleaning etc), managed to sort out my clipping in problem (it was crap) by actually realiign one cleat was nearly worn completely. New cleats and felt like new again 8)0

Cleaned the fixie and added guards (better late than never).
Put the new bike together, but didn't have time to get the shifting sorted properly. Have to see if I can do that tonight.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Question for you chaps:
Middle-sized baby elephant was given a bike with gears yesterday, very nice too. I've sorted the brakes and the shifting, but there is a problem with the amount the rear mech stretches out.
It's a single chainring job, and when it's in the spinniest gear, you can actually hear the jockey wheels clatter against the rear cog. Is there a way of persuading the rear much to stretch out a bit more? There seems to be nothing stopping it when I move it by hand, the spring tension doesn't seem massive either.0 -
There should be a vertical adjustment screw for that (B-Screw)
Tightening it should move the jockey wheel away.FCN 4(?) (Commuter - Genesis Croix de Fer)

Will check tonight. Couldn't see anything other than the limit screws. I thought the B-screw was to adjust the tilt of the jockey wheels, so that they align vertically in line with a cog, didn't realise it increased the tensioning in the spring too.

Just fitted a new cassette and chain to the BeOne, the bike maintainence book said, "Tighten the lockring to 30-60 nM, depending on what the manufacturer recommends. You won't believe how tight this is".
Luckily I borrowed a torque wrench from a mate. The lockring said 45 nM, you wouldn't believe how tight that is.0 -
Tonight, once again I will be fiddling with the gears on the S1. Commuted 3 days on it last week and it's still not right. This may take a long time.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Fitted new chains to 3 bikes then tested my uber expensive KMC SL chain on the Trek, yep almost ready to be replaced, that thing cost an arm and a leg £57 and I can't tell the difference between the L and the SL apart from £40
My el cheapo Miche cassette arrived and has been fitted jeez it's shiny, nice to be able to shift and put power down again.
Fitted new stems to the MTB & Road, buggered around with the saddle fore / aft, height and angle of my drops.
The a quick test ride natch!Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

I just fitted the Primato casette too, thought I'd have a change from Tiagra. Very smooth and quiet on the shifting. I do worry about the chrome plating just becoming grinding paste though.0 -

They all fit the same if you use a big enough hammer
Shimano/Campag versions both available:

Oh, and I worked this out - the chain's too long, that's why it lets the Jockey wheels touch the cogs.0 -
I been running a Miche BB & chain on my SS for 2 years both still in perfect health, even through all the bad weather, perhaps it's worth a punt to try a miche corsa 10 speed chain for the road bike.
I see from Miche website they sell a Primato road groupset as well, looks like campag 11 speed to me.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Fitted nokons to my summer bike. never again.0

Shiny white bar tape to replace the grubby off-white stuff that had started to unravel. New brake cables and a drop of oil on the chain. Hello Spring0

Gave a few of the nipples a tweak on my front wheel which is the first attention they've needed in nearly a year of riding.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

I stuck a bit of masking tape on my inner chainstay to see whether the spider is still rubbing against it (and carving chunks out of it in the process).0
-
Fitted new lights, thought about the bike computer but thought twice about it as it's not wireless and would only give me speed really, and thats duped by my iphone bike computer app anyway, only thing is that the speed on the app updates a bit too slowly0

I flicked open a stuck brake spring which handily passed through a section of thumb :?

Not much time today but I did just manage to fit a very long drop brake calliper to my tourer and in a fit of aesthetic madness I've chosen to swap left / right cabling on the brake levers
makes the cable routing so much nicer, what could possibly go wrong?!?! :roll:Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

I think Primato is 10 speed. My bike came with Miche drivetrain, I noticed a big improvement when I switched to a Record cassette.
Fettling wise, just fitted new rear tube to the Iron Horse after puncture this morning - fortunately was 50 yards from destination when I spotted it! Realised it was my first puncture on that bike in over a year of almost daily commuting!0 -
I solved my fixie's brake rub issue by opening the quick release.
It's stopped the rub but not improved my braking.0 -
