    Put a bottle opener on my headset and need to find where the slow puncture in my rear tube is :x Got to attack the crankbolts with an allenkey too, so much for an easy night.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Spent a few hours on Saturday fettling the commuter:
    - good clean (first of the year, the shame!)
    - new rear brake cable; I spotted that the old one was only clinging on by 3 strands, thankfully I didn't discover this at the bottom of St. Peter's Hill at speed
    - new front brake pads
    - general brake adjustments all round. Cantis are very adjustable, but that means there are many ways to set them up wrongly.
    - chain clean & lube
    - air in the tyres

    After all that I aborted my plans to treat myself to a new commuter - the old girl's still got what it takes :-)

    P******ed on the way in this morning, right in the middle of a main road running through a common so no side roads to wheel the bike up to mend it in peace. Had to sit there by the side of the road while traffic crawled past looking at me.

    Might have to give up my dream of purple tyres and go back to good old Schwalbe Marathon Plusses tbh.

    Be a shame but no amount of colour co-ordination is worth frequent p*******s. Said purple tyres have only been fitted for two weeks and this is the first p******e. Will give it at least until the next p******e before deciding though.

    Built a rear wheel, started a front - but need a couple more spokes (sigh).

    Rear wheel is disappointingly unclicky for a Hope. :(

    So very busy today but in between calls, emails and documentation I've been popping in/out of the garage in the vain hope of getting the CX back into some form of commuting shape, fixed puncture which led to cleaning the cassette, then the derailleur pulley wheels then the chain, phew! that bike was D I R T Y

    Totally.

    This summer better be blistering to make up for it. Or else.

    Don't know what you guys are complaining about. At least you can get out on the bike to get it dirty :(

    Took my old BSO apart (still some bits on the frame though).

    Now wish I hadn't, I'll only need to put it back together again :(
  • After a couple of clipless moments recently, finally remembered to oil the cleat springs and they are now like new.

    Replaced one of the screws on my racerguards with an elasticband in the centre of Bath as I lost it on the way :( Serves me right for listening to my MP3 player on the cyclepath, however I did check the bolts yesterday at the seaside.

    @GL - :o

    For the umpteenth time, I've taken the seatpost out, cleaned it and readjusted the height and position of the saddle. I also took the saddle clamp apart for a clean. It was missing a washer, which may be the reason for the constant slippage. Grrr. Must have lost the washer when I took it apart for a clean earlier this year. Grrr.

    Fitted Some new Tektro 720 brakes to the Vapour.
    Now it stops.
    Whether this is because the new brakes are better than the old ones, because the old brakes were broken or because the new brakes have new pads remains to be seen.

    Tightened the cones on the rear wheel of the Tricross (Commute) and got rid of the extremely irritating "sounds like the BB is about to give up" sound by.......lubing the jockey wheels.

    Replaced inner tube in front wheel of the Duster (Play) after picking up 4 thorns in one go!

    Just got to bleed the brakes on the Stumpy (Bounce) and I'm all done til next time..(do that tomorrow though)

    In the middle of building up the new commuter frame. Mrs CJ is out tonight, so I hope to take over the kitchen to do the cables and stuff.

    Just been and got the replacement wheels for the road bike; it's in one piece again! :-)

    Might even go for a ride...

    swapped wheels and tyre about;

    Put RS-20s with nice thin GP4000S onto the CX and the R500s onto the hybrid; the wheels are probably worth more than the bike!

    Might also go and see whether the CX is a bit more lively! Just a quick 20 or so..............

    .....the or so turned out to be a 40!

    Took the new commuter to LBS to have the steerer cut and headset fitted, whilst I retired to a safe distance (the pub) for the afternoon, returning at closing time (shop not the pub) total cost £5.

    Awesome, tomorrow i'll be adding the cabling and bar tape to the NEW COMMUTER :D
