tee hee. I only log in once a day, but update last night's ride as well as the morning - that's the only way you can record the individual route times too.

I might start doing it this way next week.

I do this too - unless I'm feeling particularly paranoid and just check up again later in the day to see where I stand :lol::lol:

Was planning to head out yesterday morning with JG. Had just spent a large chunk of time cleaning my bike. Lots of rain. Very cold. Sod that. Turbo instead.

I only cycled in becasue I need the miles. :(

Know the feeling. I've been meaning to get out on a local club run for a few weeks now but yesterday just wasn't motivating. Early Saturday morning I lasted one lap of RP - glorious sunshine but it was just too cold. Went home and fettled instead.

Fitting end to a poor week's effort on my part.

That's the word for it - last time I had an addiction like this was when I used to go running.

off work tomo so hopefully get a 30 mile ride in

See i'm the opposite.... work day tomorrow... so planning for at least 30miles (after 0 miles this lazy weekend)

I have a target of 600 miles a month any only work 3 days a week. I have extended commute to work to about 25 miles but any chance I get I get ill get out and do a ride, I give myself one day off the bike a week, but can shorten my commute if legs feeling heavy

Managed to get a nice 30miles in today, only to get a very sudden deflation on a dual carriageway which wasnt the best place in the world to get one.

I also usually work one day on the weekend so take advantage of clear roads and get a long ride in, and have the other day off.

Am i sad thinking on my ride, I need 30 miles to jump 4 places :(
  • Can't believe how lucky I am getting with the weather. We had a seriously big dump of snow on saturday night but it had melted sufficiently for yesterdays commute and the ice on the roads has only been on about 500 yards of untreated road to my house in the village so i have got in both days. Its forecasting a load of snow later in the week and i thought my luck had run out this morning when getting in as it started to come down, but just as suddenly died.

I could stop riding now and be happy with my months output, so snow away, see if i care!

    Ow my ass!

I didn't realise having a few weeks off the bike would have an effect so soon. I'm going to have to ease myself back into it me thinks. Straight back into 200 miles a week isn;t going to work

Just noticed I have achieved exactly the same miles up to now this month as I managed in January altogether. It's all gain from now on!

I just need a 17 mile run this weekend to bring the total for the year to 800 :D

Suitably affronted after yesterday's wuss out, I cycled in today.

Funny how today's -3.5c didn't feel anywhere near as cold as yesterday's -4.5c.

    Less ice about too.

All the computers are down at work and there's nothing to I can do. Might as well run up a few extra miles on the bike.

Had a shocker last night!!! My temporary repair of the front tyre wall failed miserably as I left work, resulting in a 6th puncture in 3 rides! (Yes I know it's all my own fault for shoddy repairs!)

Rode 8 miles along the towpath on the rim - thank goodness for strong old wheels.... :D Was a great session for bike handling skills that's for sure!

Just got round to updating this - my first day on the bike this year was 11th Jan after the snow, only to have a leg operation on the 12th which wiped me out for the rest of the month!

Feb has been better, with a few bits of travelling/couple of nights out messing things up a bit, but I have now reached the heady heights of 82nd! (although, my Feb and Jan figures add up to 175 not 189?)

Quick question - I don't have a bike computer, I've traced my route on google maps and add this each day I commute - is that acceptable or do I have to go off and buy a computer to join in? Sounds like a reasonable excuse to invest in some new kit :D

    It's acceptable.

Oh, wait, just read the last sentence. Sorry, google maps just will not do. You must go and buy a comp. In fact if you don't go uber-bling you won't be able to play. Ok?

Guestimates are acceptable in 82nd place; your additional miles are probably because either you had some initial miles when you signed up, or you deleted a ride in the first week or two this year before I fixed a bug in the deletes that caused exactly this problem. Reset your miles if you feel it's wrong.

invest in a gps, then the fact that your wheel diameter will almost always be wrong won't be giving you false readings (whether good or bad).
