 Dammit - but how far have you climbed?! (Seems odd having a climbing lead without height!)

Oh, I'm probably bottom in the amount of climb in that league. 1100' commute.

first visit from the p******* fairy! Luckily it was slow enough that I could get home by pumping tyre up a couple of times. Too cold to fix p*******s roadside.

I managed a little short of 30 miles today - about half of it off-road and covered in mud. I only have to do 25 tomorrow for my weekly target - but here's hoping for another sunny day - I'm only 60 miles from the top spot.

You're doing well anyway - according to the monthly totals so far, I've done more in Jan and Feb than you but I'm actually behind you overall

I think it was a cockup: double-counting part of the first week... of the year

Anyway I am now on the number of the beast.

    No cycling today

Apparently -4.5c is the point when taking the bike out of the boot of a perfectly good car, to cycle into work, becomes stupid

The problem with taking a day off to do some riding is I don't get into the black until I've done almost 20 miles (i.e. my normal commute)! No big deal but, for example, taking a day off to go mountain biking in Dalby Forest will get me a whole 5 miles extra. Not that this is obsessive or anything!

Your mistake was getting in the car in the first place.
If you had just got on the bike and cycled from home you wouldnt have known exactly how cold it was :P

Anyway - We're supposed to worst hit this time in South Down. I was in tollymore yesterday mountain biking and snow was up to the hubs at times!

Porgy: I noticed you've done 30 already this week.. I take it you cycle in 30 miles... then cycle home tomorrow 30 miles?

I know someone else (assuming Porgy falls into the category) on here who counts their chickens before they hatch - i.e. counts the ride home before its done. I say that could bring bad karma on the way home, so I don't do it!

Hell, I do it because it's easier to log in once a day.

I used to do this until I realised it reduces the options on the way home

tee hee. I only log in once a day, but update last night's ride as well as the morning - that's the only way you can record the individual route times too.

Not so! You can stick any number of single routes in on one day.

I used to log the evenings ride before hand but now I do as you and record yesterday pm and today am in the morning. The advantage of the former is it does force you to take the route you planned before getting on the bike and deciding you were too knackered to go the long way round.

I've been doing it for a while for a couple of reasons. first off - I have limited net access so it's just easier to put them up first thing as I might not get a chance in the evening.

I now have an internet phone so access is better - but I find sticking the miles up prior to heading out makes me do it - a couple of times I've nearly changed my mind about cycling home due to severe precipation or icy conditions - but as the miles are up there already I feel obliged to do the ride regardless.

I only do it on commutes - I don't do it on weekend rides - I enjoy putting them on by phone during the ride. :D

My milage is so predictable I could probably put up a month's worth in one go - and be, maybe, 20 miles out at most.

You can add as many rides per day as you feel like adding, and delete them too if they turn out to be wrong. There's no limit on how often you can carry out these actions. It's a flexible process.

Where's my redemption? I cycled through pretty horrible near freezing rain this morning - all my stuffs still hanging up wet. And it still looks pretty horrible outside.

I only cycled in becasue I need the miles. :(
