I'm in the 60s league. I don't have a beard that goes aaaaarrr; I do have an aunty that does though. Will that do? 40 somethings with beards or aunties that go aaaaarrr on Tuesdays then...

I'll start one for people who are in hiding from angry aunties if you like.

Re the stats, have a bunch already, with the signing up and the starting mileage, I take it I could put in my Jan mileage? Not terribly impressive due to being off the bike for 2 weeks with the snow/ice, but don't want to start at position 50 if i can help it!

Don't provoke him, laddie I think Chuck's got a 35-mile-ish round trip, and does club runs. Once he starts rockin' it, so to speak, we're in trouble.

    Anyone for "hilly commutes"?

I'd suggest at least 500ft ascent in a day.

Would that be 500ft ascent total (easy, do that most days) or 500ft between start point and finish point (I'd have to go 20miles just to find a hill that high)?

*I* fit both criteria, but I was thinking total ascent in a day...

500 FOOT A DAY "HILLY"?! Are you having a laugh?! Mine is 2530 foot a day according to memory map, and there are only 3 'proper' mandatory low gear hills each way. In the old stats there used to be a height gain column and a ratio to see who was doing the steepest rides, which incidentally (ahem) I led until it was removed.

Yours grumpily hoping for mid table mediocrity (and so far failing)

    SJ
Just checked some of my garmin stats and I do just over 500ft gain on my commute across london. You can't call that hilly.

    OK:

    That makes it better.

1000ft of ascent per round trip.

    EDIT: and the name:

Over 1000ft ascent in the commute

    Il Principe

Are you really in the "Hybrid League"?

Somehow you don't seem quite the type....

I've never met you, but I suspect the word "abomination" might figure somewhere.

im too addicted. I check the stats table like every hour in the morning as people roll in and i move down. Then i spend my lunch break cursing you all and plotting my revenge with the odd sacrifice to the p fairy.

And no body wants to come and play in the scary hairy northerners league. I cant be the only person north of york (lower than that and ur a southern fairy).

Hopefully last of flu gone tomorrow and i can really use the 4 day weekend to full effect.

No i didnt take 2 days annual leave just to increase my ranking that would be stupid. *COUGH* *COUGH*

Karen may be heavy but she's no Hybrid

I think the rascal who added his name to the hybrid league may have left some clues.

  • To be in the midlander league do you have to currently reside in the midlands or is it enough to be from there?

btw what's the criteria for the Viking ML - is it just to have a beard? - or do you have to be from a former Viking empire - or Scandinavian or something?

    I ask as I have a beard.

In Stats World your marital status is independent of such things as vows before god, the church, man made law, biological ties or emotion.

    The test is simple

Does your cycling time depend on grovelling, the accumulation of brownie points or deceit?

but I live with neither of them
    I have a beard

    Are these facts connected?

Its a 35.5 mile round trip, 4 days a week. Today I wimped out and took the folder on the train, worried about ice out here in deep deep Surrey. No mileage as no comp on the Dahon  .

I'd go out on Sundays regular as I was last year, but I'm now also studying until March next year (Building Surveying until September, then Architect exams after that), and working to make up time for the day I'm not in work, so Sunday club runs with the KW'ers is a luxury item.

But maybe after I get my next assignment done I'll treat myself...

And that means we reach a landmark of 100 people who have recorded miles in the SCS this year 8)

And to all the people above me (*80th-21st position), as soon as this weather gets warmer I will be starting on my 35+ mile round trip commute and aiming to take your SCS scalps.

*Because the people in 20th position and above are doing a mental amount of miles and are either bionic or immune to tireness  :o :?

I would have done it easily if 3 of my team of 5 yesterday hadnt been so bloody useless and statuesque.

Anyway, As ITB says, you need to rest now and again to keep the consistency up

Cycled through rain and hail this morning, and ended up covered in grit again - me and the bike. Grit in my hair, in my socks, in my fecking underpants!

On the plus side, yesterday's wind has died down.
