Just an idea... how about a league table of mini-league tables...?

You could rank the rider average for each mini league... it would probably promote encouragement (or bullying!) from the riders near the top of those below them to up the overall average...

Sorry if I'm generating homework for you

I've gone from 15th to 5th place in one entry :?

All I need this weekend is a little sunshine. The bike is tip-top, and it's the weekend where those of us no longer in long term relationships have the advantage.

Weather allowing - I'll be out both days this weekend running up those miles.

New league added - Married with Kids

I define Married as having a significant other human being with whom you share a permanent residence and from whom permission is required to go cycling wether through undignified begging or negotiated compromise or from whom 'extended commutes' are concealed by tall tales of late nights at the office.

Kids are little versions of the significant other

I haven't taken it upon myself to add anyone to the list as I don't want to make assumptions about your lives which may cause offence.

Edit. Damn forgot about CJCP again

I'll join this one in July then.
But I will be taking my yearly miles to the birth in there with me

Get plenty of miles in before then, it may be a lean Autumn

Good one. I'm top of that too, for now. :)

nic_77 - the league of mini-leagues has the air of taking all this a step too far, which therefore makes it a good idea. Don't hold your breath but I'll have a look at the possibilities. With the sudden abundance of MLs tho I think a filter somewhere indicating which leagues you're in might be handy

I wont, planning on a reasonable ride on sunday before starting the whole leg pummeling week again, with maybe more extended commutes

    Anyone for "hilly commutes"?

I'd suggest at least 500ft ascent in a day.

Would that be 500ft ascent total (easy, do that most days) or 500ft between start point and finish point (I'd have to go 20miles just to find a hill that high)?

*I* fit both criteria, but I was thinking total ascent in a day...

500 FOOT A DAY "HILLY"?! Are you having a laugh?! Mine is 2530 foot a day according to memory map, and there are only 3 'proper' mandatory low gear hills each way. In the old stats there used to be a height gain column and a ratio to see who was doing the steepest rides, which incidentally (ahem) I led until it was removed.

Yours grumpily hoping for mid table mediocrity (and so far failing)

Just checked some of my garmin stats and I do just over 500ft gain on my commute across london. You can't call that hilly.

I'm married with a kid - but I live with neither of them - so I guess I'm not able to join :(

btw what's the criteria for the Viking ML - is it just to have a beard? - or do you have to be from a former Viking empire - or Scandinavian or something?

    I ask as I have a beard.

I've started a couple of new MLs

    1. for those who ride hybrids - be not ashamed
    2. for those who mostly ride in Kent - or even if a bit of your commute is in Kent actually.

Wonder if it's worth having mini leagues by age 20's, 30's etc...

I propose a ML for people who say 'Aaaaarr!!'. It's a terribly under-used word.

Beards can be classed as suitable just by being better than Adrian Childs' dubious attempt, surely.

Kids is a boolean value - you either have or you haven't. The jump from 0 to 1 is huge compared to going on from 1 upwards, thus quantity is irrelevant in Stats World.

    Aaaaarrr, by jove.

OK - I've started a ML called "born in the 60s" for all us 40 somethings

what about a ML for 40 somthings with beards who go Aaaarrrr! Er...or is that just me?

I'm in the 60s league. I don't have a beard that goes aaaaarrr; I do have an aunty that does though. Will that do? 40 somethings with beards or aunties that go aaaaarrr on Tuesdays then...
