I must, must catch Scrum V later on as I was in work yesterday and missed THE MATCH. I caught the last 5 minutes which nearly killed me!

+1. Must set Sky+, too. Ker-rist, I was all over the show. You know the poster shot of "Platoon", with William Defoe on his knees, arms in the air (admittedly, after being shot), that was me on the lounge floor after King Shane of Williams scored under the posts. (Why does he always take the hardest route? :o )

I literally saw the last 5 minutes, my legs were jelly and my heart rate was flying, at least I can watch it this evening in a calm state, although I still sometimes worry even watching the replay :D:D:D

Hey Clever Pun and Roger, I didn't make it out this morning. Word on the block is that Mrs Benno may pop out to the gym for an hour. The dogs have been walked, my lights are on charge and my legs are feeling ok

Struggling here down in 38th place. It's wet today and there are other plans anyway, and we're away for most of the week so my only direction is down for now. Top 20ish for most of last year is a distant memory.

Thank god for that i now have breathing space to catch you up. 80 miles over the weekend and a day of work tomorrow. I seem to jump 4 places then drop 2, mind all this competitive cycling is getting me some rather nice complements on my legs from the female contingent of the local club :)

Ride back from dunstable was a lot more pleasant. Found a nice route through the countryside and almost zero traffic.

And the miles gave me a brief visit to the top 5 :D

to do 4 miles and feel tired... it's really not worth it and she knows it. her bike is heavier than all four of mine combined.

It's a nice idea but unless there's someone else it'll be hideous for me (spinniest of spinny gears and I'm going too fast still)

A friend of mine was like that when we went cycling together. He always did twice the miles I did because he kept turning around and coming back for me.

Just did the contractually obliged 22 miles today to reach my 150 weekly target.

At least I reached my target, which is more than I managed last week. I blame combination of the weather (it hailed on me three times today - I don't mind getting wet, but hail hurtz!) and the fact that my bike was out of action until Wednesday leaving me 60 miles down from the start.

This week I've got at least 250 miles planned to help keep me up in the top 5 - I've noticed certain others that are rapidly heading my way, and likely to push me out if I don;t step up my game.

Oddjob - I'm going to check back here in a couple of hours and if you've moved any closer to me again I'm quite prepared to go out and do however many miles necessary to keep the gap as it is. So - my advice is put your feet up, have a glass of wine or two and relax. :D

Like i said earlier, i'd really like to get 800miles this month, so i'm really racking up the miles. Even if I do pass you temporarily, don't worry, you'll be back above me next month.

I'd better get ready for work...

got to be in for 10:30am :D

I blew it today the big ZERO - no excuses, I was just a lazy to$$er - mind you, 150 miles for the week is my best so far and my legs wanted a day off.

this bloody carp weather though - i hate cyclng in the cold and dark. Can't wait for spring.

No miles for me yesterday but I did swim with dolphins then had a full fry up washed down with a bottle of bubbly, whilst looking out over the beach.
Followed by many many beers and a BBQ for lunch more beers and a couple of games of pool which of course I won. So what if it was against my 5 year old daughter :)

    Mother F**king SHARK!!!!

There be lots!!!! of them in the sea here  the clue was in the name of the bay "Shark Bay"

Fed the lemon sharks this morning, now they're big but nothing compared to the tiger sharks

You know even if I had a bike I think it might be too hot to ride, 37-41 today.

mmmm not happy at my position in the league, I'm going to make you ALL pay sweat & bloody for this. Mcmullej as my nearest Windshire neighbour perhaps we could team up

Just looking at the figures so far, and if people carry on (or more likely go longer as the weather improves!) it looks like 6,000 miles is only just going to get you in the yearly top twenty...

...would have been enough for eight spot last year!

  • Back on the commuter, First since thursday.
Did some "Downhill" MTBing on saturday but left the group and did a ride up over the top of the mountain and down to the otherside. hence small mileage, but my legs are still not recovered from last week.

Despite being made sit in the house all day yesterday and do sweet FA just because it was valentines day

OK, Who's been playing with my mileage:twisted:

I had that three times last year, and now again this year. Honestly people it's meant to be a bit of harmless fun, leave my fecking stats alone!!!!!

Edit - All sorted, who's a grumpy old sod on Monday mornings then

  • Cracking week last week. Managed to get in over 250 though the 100 kms on the Sunday Audax helped. Very frustrating looking back that January was almost a complete write off.

Good ride yesterday as well. Rode over to the 7 miles to the meet with the club then did a 75kms ride out beyond Pewsey. Once we were back I decided to ride home via Lacock and Bowden Hill in an attempt to get in a good sharp hill when I'm dog tired.

    Windshire? I'm in Herts.

Plan to get in some Sunday morning rides over your direction in the next few months. Doing Chiltern100 in June and fancy a reccy of some of the hills. I've never done 106miles in one go before either. Got to get one or two in before June.

Did another MTB race yesterday. Gorrick Spring Series. Does nothing
for the mileage stats, but it's one hell of a workout. Fantastic course. Great fun. Just like SCR really. Had a race within a race with a guy called Simon. Looking at the results this morning, I would have won the girls under 10 category but would have been in a real race for the under 10 boys. Some seriously quick people there.

Fitness & stamina are a big part of it. But skill & bravery play just as big a part.

I noticed a few trips on my stats missing last week. Seemed to be three occasions when my home leg wasn't showing. It may have been me being dull but I could have sworn that I had entered them correctly.
