Silly Commuter Stats

  • OK, I wasn't being clear.

I find the update process a bit rough usability-wise.

I click on my user name to update. I then cannot see when my last update was so I have to open a new tab with the main table in it. It then asks me to update on a weekly basis and I have to add my miles for the week in question. It then takes me back to the main table and I have to repeat the process once or twice (normally as I tend to update every 10 days or so).

It would be better if you could add in all your miles on a single page and have your stats available on that page.

That has nothing to do with the commuting miles column I would like to see, but my solution would kill two birds with one stone. Though I accept it would not be ideal for those who tend to vary their commute. I don't think there is a need for multiple columns just commuting and non-commuting. It could just be two fields on the update page one for commuting and the other non commuting.
  • So : now found the stats page and signed in : can someone tell me how to add my mileage from dates before the drop down menu dates??

BTW : missed my 1000 for October. Finished on 962 - very annoying but had to take another day off on Friday and just couldn't make up the time. Did my planned 60 on Saturday anyway - I'll confess I did think about the extra 38 but the potential wrath of SWMBO loomed large and I headed home from Badminton via Bath ......

I don't think you can - I seem to remember that I had to put my back dated miles into the year to date column.

Porgy - what's you up to? You were a distant memory a fortnight ago and here you are up my trumpet nearly. Go back to being ill / saving yourself for next year. Strewth - youth of today eh? Can't trust the buggers to stay still these days.

Youth? Well I supose I am in my second childhood.

As for the mileage - well still have to get to work and until they find a way of making the DLR work properly I'm stuck with cycling. :P

Kilometres are much better. There's more of 'em.

You should be banished for that statement

Don't be such a bitter, twisted old man. It's pointless really. Even with me gone, you've still lost the top spot.

    Forever.

All just a distant dream for you now. Console yourself with thoughts of what might have been as you slide down the table. If only, if only...

Between work trips and days off, it's going to be touch and go whether I reach my goal of 8,000 miles or not by year end.

You'd need to put in some MTF'ing MASSHOOF mileage to catch up with me unless that's another RM at the bottom of the SCStats table

I was thinking more the weather than milage I'd need to extend my commute by a massive amount to get off the bottom, the commute is a 4 mile around trip.....

well either stop looking or MTFU and extend your commute or find a new job further away or give up work and spend you free time clocking up mileage

OK - I'm trying out a new route tomorrow which'll give me a 20 miles each way commute...involves cycling into Erith, through Thamesmead, and then picking up my normal route through Plumstead. Hoping it gives me that extra bit of edge I'll need to stay up in the top ten next year. :D

EDIT godammit!! Link doesn't work - I'll try that again tomorrow - must go to bed now.

Good idea. I'm thinking of employing a bit of a zig zag that involves Brackley, Northampton, Silverstone (2 laps) then off via Buckingham & Aylesbury into Bicester. That should squeeze me into the top 10. Don't know about fitting a day's work in though.

    Gah. Two punctures today.

Roads seemed to be generally plastered with crap, come to think of it.

Well I'll have to get out of bed a half hour earlier, but it'll be worth it.

I had a bit of a wobble in October what with getting flu and everything - but now that i'm back up to speed again I really need to keep the momentum going. The option of commuting in thorugh Docklands and a circuitous route through Central London should get me up to 25 miles - but that won;t be till next spring.

I heard the first hint this morning that my company might be banning use of private vehicles, including bicycles, during work time. This will seriously impact on my mileage and force me to start using the tube :(
