One decent ride (first of the year) and I go up 13 places into the top ten. If I didn't know better I'd think this must be January.....

I'll do me best. Just waiting for road bike cycle to work to be approved, then I will be looking at 11th place ;)

One rubbish week because I'm ill and I'm down in the 20s!
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Trying to add my first ride of 2014 on (don't get me started about trying to add my last miles of 2013 on when I returned from holiday at 12.20am on 4th January...) but I was getting error messages when I was going into prior years to try and click on my name.

Anyway, isn't it odd how something fixes itself when you start to complain about it - all resolved. Thanks :)

Good, gives me chance to catch up :D
  • Good luck with that

Having a rest week definitely a good idea - legs trashed and feeling tired.

Feeling hungry all the time not so good (resisting urge to eat the same amount of food as a normal week).

In two minds as to mileage to aim for over the weekend. Probably low and enjoy it\have fun rather than long and miss out on coffee and a chat.

Nothing - you'll only be postponing the inevitable. You can't outrun a tsunami!

    :)

I think this month is going to be close. Only 8 days left and my plan says take it easy next week. Reckon Jan's No 1 spot is still wide open.

At 50-60mile commutes a day, its not going to take you long.....

You must spend the whole day eating.

funnily enough, I don't think I eat as much as I should,

get to work have a porridge
mid morning snack packet of crisps or choc
    Pot noodle for lunch
and then just a handful of midget gems in the back pocket of my gilet when I am riding home
Sorry its not me it's the bike ;o)

  • If you eat before you leave as well, you're probably not far off. If you don't feel weak or ill on the ride home, you've eaten enough.

didn't eat this morning and bonked trying to keep up with a roadie...

edit: made up for it with bacon :)
  • I have done that, but it leaves me feeling really hungry as soon as I arrive at work. Might be worth trying though, making sure that I have a decent breakfast available as soon as I arrive so I'm not tempted to fill up on cakes and chocolate from the snack van when it arrives...

  • Since the Tsunami hit this thread has all gone quiet. I had 3 days off the bike forced on me last week. Dropped 6 places to 14, gained 4 earlier but think I'll close the week / month on 12th. Do I do the unknown and crack some out just to stay in the top 10? This mileage thing is like a curse!

  • Whatever.

I'm not going to get drawn into a fight for first - I've got a training plan and I'm sticking to it.

Also I know that ultimately I would lose the fight .. I may get back up to No 1 in the next month or two but I'll lose it again once I start to concentrate on intensity workouts and reduce the volume.

If I hit 10,000 miles for the year I'll be well happy .. and I'm easily on target for that.

I started a new training plan on Monday which as it happens was also a rest day, tomorrow is too :D  :?

    hmmm
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
