So this month I logged 663 miles and 21000ft climbed. My legs now hate me and I am going to rest until next month.

Still in the fight for 40th at 42 need to keep up the mileage but it's only going to get harder as winter sets in.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Just got back from a few days travelling through Brittany, very enjoyable with mixed emotions seeing the sites of the D-day landings and the war cemeteries coupled with friends who I've not seen for a few years.

Was going to try and build a bike up today but have been overruled on that one.

Yes! Took 40th, if I can keep up the weekly milage 35 might be doable.

Might be all the inspiration I need to get up early and put in some bonus miles at the weekend

First place for November miles, but still need to do 44.5 miles everyday to hit 10,000 this year...

235 short of my arbitrary target of 5000 for the year, which should be a doddle with 7 weeks left. It seems like only yesterday that I was popping out for a New Years Day pootle to put my first 30 miles on for 2012. I was second for a while then. 8)

I have a life that doesn't require me to spend all of it on a bike. And commuting is still limited to two days per week, which rather shags up any idea of doing colossal mileages. 5's enough. Planning to step away from it a bit next year anyway. Chasing numbers takes away the fun of being on the bike.

Now that isn't going to happen now is it?! (Speaking as someone who has been there but was on way more than 7700 at this point!)

My target this year is a lowly 7000 but I've only got to average 17.12 miles per day for that (856 to go). But given some days off later this month and the whole Christmas thing and potential nasty weather I'm not counting my chickens yet......

Will I haven't uploaded yet. Reckon I've got you beat for Nov miles. I will do 10,000 without too much struggle I think.

Got to agree I really don't think 10K will happen, but i'll certainly give it my best shot. You're right about Christmas though, and parties. They always get in the way !

 Fair comment. I've just worked out with 5 Christmas parties (that I know of) thats probably 10 days of reduced miles/no miles so that certainly wont help!

The mileometer clicked over to 4000 today, I'd like to think of 5000 come the end of December but with work only being a 15 mile round trip it will mean a few longer rides to work to get 5k, not going to do a long ride home at 22:00.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

So all that hard work of the last 6 weeks catching up Dav1 and stifflersmom is slowly going down the drain.

However I'm not complaining having read whats happended to another SCSer - OptimisticBiker

I've booked in for some physio and while I await that I will spend some time investigating self diagnosis and the fit of a bike and the effects on the lower back. As it's winter anyway I'm not bothered about having an extreme position on the bars so will just be looking for anything that reduces stress on my body.

20 miles off you now. But I know just what you're doing. Waiting until I grab 8th, and then you'll upload your miles

Haha, I'm actually on about 9000 miles now, so will upload when I get a minute.

I think we should also do a a separate competition for who has the overall fastest average speed, there must be a way of doing that!

 At least let me gain 8th for a few minutes.

fastest average would be interesting. You can work it out from Strava. My Average for the year is 15.9mph. But then I've probably done around 1000+ miles of MTB at around 10/12mph av just to bring it down!

    Your average is 18.1mph

Average speeds are calculated in the monthly summary on the Add New page, if you enter ride times as well as miles. It would be trivial to generate a rolling average of all rides per year.

I'd have to add a CASE to validate the User ID so that whoever was #1 in the DB gets a 'boost'. Only fair surely?

Of course, thought there was something easier than that :P

Mine is low due to commuting I suspect, most people I ride with are 19+ for their overall.

Just make that 10 miles up through an extended commute :)

Update: Sciatica diagnosed - a whole load of anti inflammatories later and the pain has subsided so I'm thinking of getting back on the bike tomorrow.

I still want to break the 5000 for this year but I'm vaguely willing to admit that it might not happen if the aches and pains return.
