See my post over on the road forum, seems this old itboffin has finally cracked this cycle commuting lark, lucky for you I stayed on the train as long as I did, I came very close to getting off 1 stop early ie an extra 30 miles

The thought of not being able to ride is making my miles more enjoyable than normal. I feel an epic journey coming, perhaps I'll ride all the way home on Thursday

    Tomorrow is a new day.

the road forum.. want to narrow that down a bit?

you'll pass me tonight, I'm out on a christmas party, should only be sub 10 miles tonight.

It's not going to happen I have this evenings commute, plus tomorrow morning's 22.5 then 5 miles in the evening as we're staying with the in-laws.

    68 miles short = FAIL

I'm going to be sensible, rest & recover

I'll be keeping a close eye on you ALL

How far do you commute if you cycle that far after getting the train.

    45 miles a day

20 train 2.5 work then the same on the way home, my train only stops 2-3 times with the first 2 stops being pretty damn far apart.

95 miles door to door which takes about 3 hours each way, when the weather is good :?
Hang on... 95 miles in 3 hours?
The 100 mile TT record is about 3:20!
How long does it really take?

    Wot u suggesting I couldn't do 95 miles in 3 hours ...?

Yes yes SW trains does the lion share of my commute, thankfully.

FWIW buns I did it once on the bike, it took 4 hrs to do 80 miles (Kew) then another 1 hr to do the remaining 15 miles, that was on a hot summers day with no rucksack and minimum kit.

    Never again :?

Well that was it, my last proper country commute this year, due to early meetings today I had to take the main road shorter route, PB without any effort, cruel just cruel!

I hate that main road A338 it's freaking deadly, see you all in the big smoke for one last blast ;-(

Pffft - first time in 5 years that my year on year mileage hasn't increased; must try harder next year. I blame Mrs CiB for working 3 days a week now instead of 2 and putting the mockers on my commute options.

[this is my proper logging and doesn't include all the pootling about and school runs that I add to Stats in a desparate attempt to get the numbers up on there]

I clawed myself back to just ahead of schedule and then had two days off the bike this week. Now have 110 miles to get in three commuting days.

I'm on course for just over 4,000 miles on my new bike (since April - bike to work). Currently on 3952 on that, with three days left.

    Respect . *Tips hat*

How far's your commute btw? I reckon a 14m e/w would be the sweet spot for being able to keep going day on day. Mine's too long at 19m to keep the rythym going so i end up buying a 1 week train ticket between bursts of rides.
