I have to do 33 miles each working day to get 8,000 miles, but I know I have a couple of work=-related Christmas parties which will takes out one working day. It's going to come down to the last day of the season for me.

Edit: well done Rolf F, it's been a hard challenge given the conditions, same next week?

Thanks ITB. Possibly might skip next week........ (more snow etc......note to self: less waffle, more MTFU....polite suggestion to ITB = please no more challenges as I appear too weak to say no.....)

But thanks for the challenge! Might not have had a nice run over from Silsden to Addingham this afternoon otherwise. Less snow further west but the dusting of snow gleaming in the sunlight was a nice sight.

For the first time in 14 days I failed to do 45 miles at 19 ish miles I whacked my shin cutting it right across a pumped vein, a little deeper and I could have been in trouble.

Just the 21 miles today for me but I made the challenge of 300 miles, just!

@CJCP yeh I'm in the same boat pretty much, Dec is the worst month to be scratching for miles, what with all the family, friends and work parties.

It's mrs itboffins birthday tomorrow so I can't extend the commute which means to hit my next target i've got to do 55 miles on Tues :?

It had to happen,it's been gathering dust for 11months.But the turbo had to come out today. After all a whole day with no bike would mean a catasrophic loss of fitness which would take months to regain

Yep the turbo is out i've managed about 200 miles so far, crap and boring O so boring.

I fitted the worlds most uncomfortable saddle just to make sure I don't get to used to being dry, warmish and headwind free.

    still sucks

106 miles to do in 17 days, think I might just manage that
  • This is infuriating : had the fall, I've also had a shocking cold, now snow and ice and I just can't get on the bloomin bike :

I'm writing off this month as a thoroughly bad lot : still the one bright spot on the horizon is that a couple of pals and I are doing a tour of the Gower on Sunday which I'm really looking forward to.

I'm sad to report I've failed in this years challenge to reach 8000 miles, i'm 400 miles short and only have 2 weeks to do it in, which is this weather isn't safe or going to happen, my operation is set for the 17th Dec. after which I have weeks if not months off the bike.

Well it's been an interesting year of relentless mental riding in all conditions, mostly wet and windy, the highlight for me was the Alps in Sept and the lowest point when I injured myself and spent several months in pain.

Next year i'm so not playing, it's my ball and i'm taking it with me, good luck to the rest of you brave souls and well done to all.

It's been bizarre and painful at times but best of all fun.

This bad weather is hampering my final cycling goal of the year - to get in 6,000 miles. Have smashed all my other goals, but been too complacent on the overall one. 325 miles to go, and would get the 6,000 easy if I do commute all month.

Conditions are horrendous though, with deep slush and -8C last night, still did 3 days this week, need to get in some weekend work and longer runs when we get a thaw and should do it..... 325 to go!!! Wish me luck.

    :)

Ahem. Everybody - a quick word.

It's been fun, this Stats thing. The Stats web page will disappear though at the beginning of next year - my web hosting arrangements are up for review and it's likely that the domain will either disappear or move; if I move it it's not v likely that I'll go for a package that includes a SQL Server db, which Stats needs. So I reckon the New Year is a good time to pull the plug on it, rather than have it around for a couple of months then see it disappear just as Spring arrives and we all start piling on the miles again.

I've tried & failed to give Stats away a couple of times this year; if anyone wants to do something similar / better / worse, feel free. It's a pretty simple concept and anyone who knows their way round SQL and web coding could have the basics up & running in a few evenings without much bother, and could then add a lot more than I ever did once it's there.

    Cheers.

Thanks for doing this Chris, it was fun.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about either SQL or web coding...
