My legs no longer ache. In fact I commuted into work at somewhere between 17 and 20 mph nearly the whole way. Strangely, the journey still seemed to take an hour and ten minutes - maybe I should take up RLJing.
no but you should continue to ride at a non glacial pace if you can, you'll get fitter and fell better for itPurveyor of sonic doom

Stag in France next weekend.
Easter where I could only cycle less than 40 miles.
May's not much better with 2 weddings abroad and some familly visiting.
Anyway, on the plus side: 30 commuting miles
At least 50 on Sunday... GF's away, but I don't want to risk the burnout, I'm raising the mileage slowly (and want to do some hills, considering how crap I am at them)
Simples cycle to France :P
or become a recluse.
works for me.
- Becoming a recluse - check, I don't see my friends during the week because I cycle to work, I don't see them at the weekend because I cycle for pleasure.
- Cycle to France - in due time, it's planned for September
Im the same. work long shifts, dont drink or really like going out. I tell myself if me and gf have day off together its better I go out first thing for long ride than go out on piss on night, and be hungover next day.
In fact I cant stand going pubs etc, try going if your tee total. cycling is me time and keeps me fit
I had to go out this morning, nothing to do with the fact I want to clime the table. upto 17th and hopefully if I get enough time tomo commute could push me to 14th, also the weather looks lovely on sunday, be rude not to go out even more0 -
I seem to be climbing up to 57th overall and 8th for the month so far. I am rather worried that this puts me a mere 50 behind itboffin for the month, could start giving me ideas. As if i dont spend enough hours plotting my rise up the table.0

can someone please explain the columns at the end of the table? what is WTD, GAP and Cuml GAP.
I'll also be out on the saddle tomorrow; with my better half away and the nice weather, would be criminal not to.0 -

My Dad's next door neighbours are the only people I know who talk about "Old Ordinary" bicycles (penny farthings) and "Safety" bicycles (ones with chains). They used to race the penny farthings.0

My cycle home on Friday was thwarted by a broken bolt on the saddle clamp. It didn't half go with a bang :-)
No cycling today as LBS had no replacement; will try cyclesurgery at lunchtime so hopefully back on tomorrow.
If i beg, can I join some of the mini-leagues (notably the London one, the hybrid one and if it exists the "quite lazy but occasionally manage a commute" one)
George0 -
Mini Leagues are open to all; sign up to whichever light your candle. If none do feel free to create your own.
Spent some time peering at the road atlas on Saturday and spotted what looked like an unlikely permutation of roads that knocked a bit off the commute. I still hanker for sub 1-hour commutes from time to time.
Turns out that this unlikely permutation was so so unlikely that by halfway I was nearly ¾ of a mile up on normal. In for a penny in for a pound so a further detour added another mile or so on. Still 47th though.0 -

Yeah, but if you are going to show off on a machine like that, you should really go for max scariness and put clipless on!Faster than a tent.......0 -

I've had clipless pedals on a unicycle. I'm not sure I'd recommend it0 -
Lunchtime meeting put paid to extra 10 miles run today, but have managed to put into action a two-way extended commute. 8)0
