Left the bike overnight and was rewarded for my battling cycle into the wind and rain yesterday morning with a 30mph tail wind home.

Was doing 20mph up hills sitting down that I normally have to stand up and attack for about a 12mph speed on a good day

That was fun, 15 miles into wind just to give me a nice long run home with the wind on my back. Cold though, and with gently exfoliating hail showers.

just started snowing in birmingham, and headwinds to 35 mph on the way back. Missed lunch today, I can't actually face 19.1 miles into a headwind of snow on an empty tank after 100 miles in the last 2.5 days. Those stats don't compute for me, no matter how much MTFU you add to the equation...

Did you ride back in the end? I went for it with a slightly amended route for more bus lanes and less trucks. I don't know how far it was I collapsed when I got home it was absolutely mental wind. At one point I was in the drops out of the saddle sprinting at... 12MPH!!!

    COME ON!!!!

    :D:D

I just about broke 1,000 miles for the first time. I had to do 46 miles and my feet were freezing after 11.

I am having a well-earned beer and Minstrels and ice cream. Bonza.

I *really* wish it would warm up now.

Heh heh. Ta. Besides, if you're going to be knocking out 1,000 miles a month until it gets dark again, I've got take my chances. :) Next month is already looking a hard push for 600 even.

All in, I've done a metric century today.

Some stunning miles there chaps, over 1000 in the month. Nuts or what?

I'm going to do a purge over Easter and remove those who signed up in good faith but haven't troubled the Stats db in a while.

The cutoff is the end of Feb - anyone with their last update in Feb or earlier will no longer skew the stats after the weekend.

There are a few regulars in there - LiT & Greg66 leap out. I'm a fair man - if you fall into that trap and don't want to be deleted PM me (rather than saying on this thread and then wondering why I didn't spot it 8 pages on), and I'll keep you in. Or just start adding miles again.

    Roger & out.

    Thank you, sir. :)

I can't believe though I'm still 250 miles behind Will for the month! That's a whole week's extended commuting plus a weekend ride.

I have constructed an Excel spreadsheet which proves that I will do 500 miles in April

Do I have to do the miles or can I just enter them now?

Good work on the 1000 miles

But you're expelled from the Celtic League

Only if I can enter the 2640 miles that I know I'll do in April as long as everything else falls into place. Which it will, obviously.

Can't we all just enter what we are going to do later now and then you can shut the spreadsheet down?!

Sounds fair to me. At least we won't have to wait until the depths of winter to see who's top. Did I mention that I'm planning to cycle across Russia over the May bank holiday weekend, continuing on to Australia to see my old Aunty in Adelaide...?

You didn't mention that as it happens. Much good it will do you though - I'm planning on cycling round in circles in my dining room non stop for the rest of the year, 24/7. Think of all that bike time you'll lose having tea and bickies with Aunty.

I don't know why I even bother - I'm so far behind as it is thanks to my pathetic commute and enforced absence in Jan. Been doing some calcs this morning though and I reckon my weekly mileage will get up to 440 once the morning's are light enough for some pre work RP lappage, then weekend miles should kick in too. I'll still be a long way off 1000 a month though...

Got to have another op if April/May as well so more time off the bike.

    *sniffles*

    Chapeau to you 1000 milers.

Il Principe, I've got you in my rear view at the moment but maybe the next 2 months will see that gap widen a little with ur op. Let me know if you are thinking about some pre work laps of rp come the summer - it's on the route in and would be good if work & the war office allow for such. Hope it all goes well.

Defo, I reckon I can get in 2 laps pre commute (so an hour total inc getting there and back) - I have to go home afterwards and swap bikes etc, but live in Wandsworth so it's on the way.
