Mark Elvin wrote:I'm up for whatever to be honest, my only worry is there's little sign of temps improving & the cycle paths are likely to be mighty icy.
I'll be out near the Bath end of the path this evening so I could take a quick look. I did see people using it quite happily a couple of days ago without problems.
As long as its mostly slush/snow then any reasonably treaded tyre should work. In my youth I also remember riding in 4 inches of snow on 700x23 tyres. Something I wouldn't attempt now.
Waddlie. I'm up for 18th or 19th of January.

There in lies my worry, I'm now on 700x23's.
I'd be up for 18th/19th too.2012 Cannondale Synapse0 -
I'm on 700 24s and I've been fine on ice and snow all the way through so far - I have to say the the only time it gets hairy is when the ruts freeze up - but I suspect that that would be just as buttock clenching regardless of the rubber (unless you're running those spiked jobbies)FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits

Having said that however they are threatening some real nasty stuff starting on Boxing day aren't they? I would suggest we assume it's good for the 27th and then confirm on the 26th when the weather reports are tighter?FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits

17th or 18th best for me, mrs is at pole dancing classes on 19th & I really don't want o interrupt that as it may have some interesting long term benefits. :shock:2012 Cannondale Synapse0 -
Let's have a ride on the 18th then!

I'm up for drinks and potentially food on the 18th. Can't get away from work before 17:00 which means I can't realistically get to Bristol before 19:00. For locations closer to Bath I can get there earlier.

I suspect it will be a ride from Brizzle to Bath area for food anyway.2012 Cannondale Synapse0

Deffo indoors, will bring Mr fatty bike lock, although still getting used to the fixie so I may lag a bit at times.2012 Cannondale Synapse0 -
Great Stuff. Looks like I have sorted out working from Bristol on Tuesday now.
May I ask what/where is the BIH?!

Despite it being my idea, I now can't do the 18th. Can do 17th or 19th. Anyone able to re-schedule?
Suggest meeting at bottom of cycle path at 6 for Bird In Hand at 7ish, depending on whether or not I come second in a fight with a blind man again...Rules are for fools.0 -

While I prefer not to skip my weekly Badminton session on a Monday I think I can cope with skipping it next week so Monday it is (assuming the others can make it.)

We've just hired a replacement for my job position (for some unknown reason I've received a promotion) and he starts on Monday. What this translates to is that I'm going to be nailed to the office and up to my eyeballs for at least a month to six weeks whilst I mentor the guy into the role - ergo unless a weekend ride I'm out for a bit. Bugger.
