The police should clearly take an interest in this though, it's extremely threatening. Does anyone have any more information?

I presume he's emailed the PCO, Police, Local MP, Transport Minister and Local News? I bloody well would have.

  • If I was the passenger I'd have called the cops, refused to pay, and possibly rammed the Maglite right up him sideways.
  • Incredibly, TFL refuse to accept You Tube clips of drivers' behaviour as evidence.

They say they cannot view the footage because of their IT policy.
My work's policy on YouTube is the same. It wouldn't stop someone sending in a CD of the incident, though, surely?

Quick update on this. Got to present myself for the Public Safety Committee in a months time where I'll be asked some questions by the council and possibly the driver.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

You're going to be questioned by the driver?

Do you think your account will add anything to the footage?

The committee will see the video footage and it could end there but the possibility of questions from the defence and prosecution, driver and council, is there.

Interesting. You'd think they'd just be questioning the driver really, but I suppose they have to 'establish the circumstances'....or something.

He looked absolutely terrified. I've rarely heard such emotion - you go from hating him to wanting to give the guy a bloody hug.

    That's just... wow.

kudos to the guy for stopping to sincerely apologise.

I think he skidded during the incident  fair play, it doesn't help if it was worse but he really did look genuine

New to the forum so hi to all..... After this morning's incident I'm looking for a headcam as I got cut up by a bus and ended up taking some serious avoiding action on to the pavement and now have a bent wheel! - any recommendations? Not too pricey but equally smaller the better. I'm going to get that bus driver next time and he can pay for my new wheel!!
Sorry if recommendations have been made but 60 pages is a lot to get through.
    Appreciate your help.

Here's one I've been waiting for a response from. I haven't received it, so I'll make the vid public now:

On the first overtake look at the drain and realise that I pass outside of it without having to change my line - the camera makes the gap I had look larger than it was. The second overtake was even closer

Why had the bus stopped in such an odd place? Blocking the junction and about 20 yards short of the busstop.

Geees the second one especially was a close call - I hope you get a grovelling apology. Somehow I doubt it.

No reply, but I did get a read receipt from a guy with the same surname as the Company, so I know they got it.

It's a pity they can't be bothered to at least acknowledge your existence.

Holy crap, we all have stories like this

remember that buses have an emergency shutdown button / lever - push / pull it and ride away

let him explain to the office what happened, bus cctv will be checked, and he will be chastised,

and 1 day i will remove the keys from a car at the lights,,,,,,,, and chuck em

take no prisoners cos they wont

I emailed the company again, expressing my disappointment at their lack of response and pointing out that I had now made the video public, and also mentioning how it comes up as no.3 on Google hits when you put the company name in (video).

This has elicited an immediate response - apologising and saying that they are still waiting to interview the driver (after a month!) and asking if I can remove the video.

I will make the video private again - only those with the link will be able to see it (cough!) and let him know as such.

Incidentally - if you want to know just how close the 2nd pass was: turn the sound on, and wait for the WHUMP as the bus passes.

KB - and all the other drivers seem to be giving you plenty of room...sheesh...ps, how did you make the video jump up in google hits??

You pick the right tags for the video basically, and it's a Contour 1080p running at 720p 60 frames / sec

1080p runs at 30 fps so gets a bit blurry when you're moving at any kind of speed (look at my earlier vids... they are set at 1080 and you'll see the difference)

(I have to state that I very rarely get buzzed at all and it's more common to see the kind of overtakes ALL the other drivers do. If you go look at the DHL overtake vid: http://youtu.be/9U94jr60Pfw?hd=1 that's much more typical of a professional driver )

the contour is nice (but obviously not cheap)! apparently you can get a waterproof housing....i wonder if that is ocean proof...

yeah thats the thing, 99% of drivers (or cyclists, or people in general) will be fine, but there is always one numpty...

I've used the waterproof casing while canyoning, It looks like it'll hold up to anything 'reasonable' although it is plastic so I was trying not to bang it on too many rocks.

Just started using an 808#11 cam - get them for about £25 via eBay. 720p, not bad quality.

Made a sample - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niIv-hX8ZwA - The quality has really suffered from being converted to wmv before upload but you can get a pretty good idea. I'm going to tape over the mic which should reduce the wind sound a lot - whenever I look away from the directing in which I'm travelling the sounds of the wind is completely eliminated.

Anyone else using one of these yet?
