Perhaps you should have started to slow down and anticipate the fact that he was already pulling out as the other vehicle had, instead of continuing at speed towards him. Road sense works both ways you know.

Why did you continue to shout at him when he was well away from you? Very bizarre.

I would have probably done the same as KB in that vid. The van looks like it's creeping forward to see round the parked cars rather than actually pulling out until he's really close.

I don't think I would have braked in anticipation, beyond making certain I had some braking distance or an escape route in hand.

nothing exciting happened, so i edited it to x4 speed. Was just testing the kit as its been sat under the bed for quite a while. Vibes from the bars knocked it out of focus after 46minutes, so have refocussed now and will threadlock it to keep in focus.

Just made a short film of our commute last week. Helmet cam mixed in there in small chunks. Check it out:

What do you think? should we make more films? or spend more time in the office we were riding to?

    Cheers.
Great video. Wish my commute was like that, well sometimes anyway.

I think I would have added more bike noise when you race past the camera for instance.

  • We failed to get up Gold Hill in Shaftesbury (the hill in the old Hovis bread ads) last Monday because of the torrential rain running down the cobbles but on Saturday it was a different story .....

My brother asked why we had cycled a round trip of just over 100 miles just to ride 150 yards up a hill ... I suppose he has a point but I reckon he has no romance in him :D

When I was staying in Weymouth this time last year I made the chauffeur divert to Shaftesbury so I could look down the hill.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

So, did anyone else start thinking "TIMMY!" after the 2nd "come on!" ???

Now that was a cow of a hill!

Meh. Had something similar with a bus last night on CS7 (moral: never take a strange route home). He beeped me for riding in the middle of the bus lane, then went past and pulled into a stop. I went by, giving him the finger.

He passed me close into the next set of lights to stop and pulled into the ASL so there was no room to pass on the left. I went round the back, and we had a frnak exchange of views through his wndow. He was also of the mind that I was supposed to use a little itty bit of the bus lane. And he told me that he'd "do me a favour" and "leave it this time". I replied, setting out the correct position, with what an observer might have called blunt and vivid language.

I pulled away ahead of him, he then tried to cut me up into the next set of lights, and then I rode off never to see him again.

It was all good in the end.

Woah close call; kudos to the guy for stopping to sincerely apologise.

This is one of the reasons I've just added a new set of lights to the bike.

Had the misfortune of being on a bit of road that a BMW wanted to be on yesterday.

It'll be the wet weather it looks like you've had leaving a lovely layer of oil / diesel on the road. I've done the same myself, you go from vertical to lying in the road with no discernable gap in between

Quck clip to show why I originally bought my helmet cam:

This is completely typical of the driving I see most every day when cycling along this stretch 8)

Got some new ones - I could've sworn I posted these last night! (both from yesterday)

    Anyway:

    another great driver:

    http://youtu.be/fvQyDzTXsdo?hd=1

email sent to Carlsberg in recognition (read the description as it may not be clear from the vid what is happening)

    And this one.....

    http://youtu.be/wjsr90rXwSA?hd=1

I said this was parked (okay crashed) but I realised that the BMW was on the trailer WHEN it crashed, so clearly had come free from the car it was being towed by and went through the hedge / wall!

BTW - this was only caught because I did Bunny Hill, I never go this way normally.

Just curious as to what he was using that rather large maglite for, whilst driving and in broad daylight. Must've been dark in that cab of his,

I'm struggling to believe that actually happened!! The guy was gonna swing at him with the mag-lite, WTF? Cutting you up is pretty standard for black cabs in my experience but that is unbelievable!
