A blue taxi R:Jing in Bristol this afternoon. Looking at the frames where the lights change and when the taxi passes the stop line there are 35 frames which equals over 1 sceond.

A ghost bike type thing at the roadside, though tbh I don't know anything about the bike.

Following on from the posting of the above video and contacting the licensing authorities at the local council I have been asked to provide a statement with a view to a prosecution, not sure if this will be a police prosecution of some form of civil prosecution by the council but it's a result.
Another good result from this video of an HGV passing me

This is the full text of the interchange between myself and the Director of the company concerned.I was coming out of Thonbury yesterday and had one of your vehicles behind me as we came up the hill to the A38. I wasn't expecting good things with the situation due to the width of the road and the hill I was riding up but the actions of your driver involved surprised me. He waited for a clear road and overtook with plenty of room. Please pass my thanks onto the driver.
In return the Director replied:
Thank you, I will do.
I too am a keen cyclist and cycle in each day from Tetbury to Yate.
Best Regards,
Chris Hathaway
I think having a boss who is also a cyclist has helped the driver education and awareness in the company.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

I'm actually getting a tow from my cycling buddy and we're cruising along at about 20mph when I notice two lads up ahead on MTBs.
Well, you have to show this teenage MTB crowd what a proper bike can do - so I encourage my mate to speed up and pass 'em. Only Rob's got nothing left in the bank and it's left to me to accelerate up and go past 8)
I'm very pleased with the casual "Cheers mate" from me as I go past - I heard one of the lads say "HOW fast?" just as I came up behind 'em

Been to the Licencing office today, monday, to give a statement and the driver could lose his hackney licence at worst. The footage and statement will be shown to the police and they can take action, if not then the licencing commitee will take some action.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

It's been a little while but I finally had a reply back from TFL about the bus running the red light (original video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msQc4AkAqyA )Thank you for your feedback concerning the dangerous driving of a driver of route 283 bus.
I was very concerned to learn about this incident. You won’t be surprised to learn that the safety of our passengers, as well as that of other road users, is an issue we take extremely seriously. Our drivers receive comprehensive training to enable them to perform their duties to the highest standard. As you would expect, safety is a vital part of this training. Failing to stop at a red light and driving at excessive speed is totally unacceptable.
I have contacted London United, who operate route 283 for us. They were also concerned about this and will remind all drivers that they should be driving safely and within the law. They have also been able to identify the individual driver, thanks to the details and footage you provided. He will be interviewed by a member of management and corrective disciplinary action will be taken in line with the operators internal disciplinary procedures.
For confidentiality reasons we never release details of an interview and any subsequent action taken. But please rest assured that both we and our operating companies take complaints about poor staff behaviour such as dangerous driving extremely seriously. It shall not be tolerated and the driver will be in no doubt of the consequences of such conduct.
Some of the action that is taken against drivers includes follow up monitoring by plain clothes inspectors, re-training or in some cases dismissal.
Thank you for taking the time to contact me. Should you have any further queries, please let me know.
Normal sort of reply but I can't honestly say what more they could do / say so fair play to them.0 -

Really impressed with the quality of most of the footage (including sound). Would I have to spend a fortune to get one of these cameras?0

Quoted from YouTube description box:As a cyclist posting helmet cam vids on YouTube you get a fair amount of abuse in the comments and one of the recurring themes is along the lines of "you never post videos of yourselves doing stupid things" so I thought "fair point" and decided to start posting a few under the sub-headling of "Mea Culpa" (my fault).
Obviously I'm still only going to post the more interesting ones and not just any old rubbish for the sake of it. At the end of the day 95% of my journeys don't have anything interesting on the video at the end so I don't want to go looking for material, but when something happens that genuinely seems worthwhile I will post it, even if I'm the one being stupid.
So this is the first in that series - a video of me (1) stupidly going up the inside of traffic (2) weaving around some buses and (3) coming face to face with an oncoming bus that I had no idea was there. There are any number of ways I could have handled this better and I'm sure some of you will be happy to point them out in comments
If you are a fellow helmet-camming cyclist I'd urge you to also consider posting similar "Mea Culpa" videos as well, I think it helps everyone to see them... But again, only if it's genuinely of interest, don't just flood YouTube with boring videos as that helps no-one.0 -

The better quality clips posted by the likes of myself and a few others are captured on ContourHD cameras. I blagged mine for £175 in a moment of weakness after Amazon sent me an email one mornming, 3 hours later I'd bought it.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

Exactly the same here

Yes, the 1080p30 mode doesn't actually use much higher bitrates than any of the others so there's little extra quality to be gained and, in fact, running it in 1080 has a narrower field of vision which for me is more detrimental than any quality considerations.
Plus 60fps means you can slo-mo the footage beautifully. Example here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-OMqke124k
(Slo-mo begins at 0:12 on the timeline and is 50% speed - so footage filmed at 60fps but running at 30fps)0 -
Absolutely nothing happens here:
