Bit of a drag race the other night, needless to say I came away with the laurels otherwise I wouldn't post the clip

  • Got a helmet cam for xmas, been uploading clips to the Tube of You, link in my sig below. Mostly your fairly standard silly drivers, a minor crash and a motorbike scalping so far :-)

    Ummm. I don't get it. What's scary?

A lorry the size of my house inches away from me scares the f***ing hell out of me.

A few things that pissed me off this morning:

This is a hot spot for RLJs from the right - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uBgJNWzMFo

This guy ignores that cyclists share the road - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGEE8DLfVr0

...and my fave from this morning - BT Openreach to the rescue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19SRneKmmEM

On a more positive note, it was really nice morning!

It might not be scary to some but to others it is. All down to your road confidence. That might not be scary to me one day yet on another it might.

Do you reckon it's worth it? I saw it happening from a long way away so I was never in danger, it just pissed me off.

  • Well you might make BBC Breakfast news if you're luck y

(just to add I meant to BT, not da fuzz)

Personally I feel making the complaint when it's a company vehicle is of more relevance to the company involved as they should hold all employees driving liveried vehicles to a high standard.

Yeah to BT - would have to be a lot worse for me to bother getting the rozzers involved...

Might be worth linking them to it. What address do you think I should sent it to? - The complaints part of the website seems very 'existing customer' oriented...

The sunlight brings out the idiots in Bristol today.

A couple of scooters, one attempting the can-can.

  • I have two videos from last week:
Close pass, the driver was afraid of the trolleybus, so he endangered me. But there was enough room to change the lane safely...

An impatient driver wanted to get in front of me, and almost hit the road island:

  • I remember that somebody on here had a speed readout on their videos from their head cam. Can somebody point me in the right direction please. Is it some sort of programme or is it part of a fancy head cam?

Found it on you tube. Some clever person has managed to overlay data from his garmin 305 to show a multitude of data. Anybody know how he may have done this?

  • Thanks for that jds, I can't use it either as I have Windows XP  . I did however find a program called Dashware that does something similar. You can download a trial for 30 days from here if you want it.

Pretty sure you'll be able to find a free version somewhere if you look hard enough.

+1 I'll normally stick the vid on youtube then report to the company including the link in the message. Driving like a twat in a company vehicle isn't acceptable.

FWIW I did complain about a BT vehicle once who had a yell at a motorcyclist. Got a decent response which seemed to indicate they'd spoken to the driver. Of course the nice response may have been due to me using my works email address as the contact - I work for a company thats part of the BT group ;-)

    Two little clips..

Firstly, a cyclist who doesn't like stopping at reds, but doesn't think it is right to jump them either..

    http://vimeo.com/19997401

Then a pet hate for me, drivers like to do their damndest to get past me here then realise they have to slam on their anchors because of the speed humps/width restrictions :S

:lol: I do this when cycling on The Cut almost every day. They HAVE to overtake you and then they go at snail pace due to speed bumps!

Approaching a speed bump where the road narrows down to one lane. Ease out to avoid potholes and this white van driver from North Wessex Training decides to speed past me. Great bit of driving mate.

Sent an email at the weekend to McGee saying I wasn't impressed by the lack of ASL awareness of this HGV driver ( KR02 CNN ). No reply yet.

Not sure you'll get far - can't see the lights from your video so s/he may have passed the first line as the lights were changing which is completely legal.

Not to mention that you then technically jump the lights by going past the ASL.

Very sensible cycling from you, don't see that often, most people would have done what Boris did and tried to go under the lorry! BUT is that really complaint worthy?
