Some of the stuff people post on here, I think "yeah it's inconsiderate but why make a fuss". But the driving in that video is disgraceful. I would get onto the owner of that company ASAP.0 -
Woah! WTF?
no hard acceleration? That is pretty shit.
EDIT: Just saw that van video... in the video it's so tempting to think "just hit the fucking side", though might have aggravated the driver, hmm, though one right.... :P0 -

Perhaps you should refer them to their own Quality Manual

Lambeth Road. A few hazards to look out for but a good stretch if the lights in the middle play ball. I was really happy with my speed and the way I was reading the road today especially the slowing traffic and flashing indicators at the end. Sometimes it's a good idea to slow down a bit

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_-upK-oVWYI was nearly home when I saw this collision (excuse the language, I was quite taken aback), so I stopped to check everyone was ok. I kept filming for about five minutes after the end of this clip and made sure to get number plates etc. I gave a witness statement to the police and told them (and both drivers) I had the incident on video.
Looks to me as though the other driver didn't stop after the accident. Is that right? They are legally obliged to ...0 -

Max everything out in the dark. lol.
The problem i have at the moment is that my commute starts in daylight and ends in darkness.. so what ever setting i choose it won't cover everything.0 -
I reviewed the results of my 1st run with the helmet cam last night
If anyone from the Highways Agency would like to know what the kerb / verge of the 12 miles of my commute looks like - please get in touch.
I DID manage to get some shots of traffic and numpties - right off my drive I was overtaken by a coach while I was doing 23 and I got ALL the details on film. Plus a section of this daft tart I mentioned in the rants section...
Apart from those two moments - kerb, verge, road virtually the entire way.
I have adjusted and moved the camera - plus also used the lasers to hopefully get the image level (Oh yeah, everything was at an alarming angle as well  )
I'll check when I get home this evening.
I must say though: the ContourHD 1080 takes REALLY clear footage! (of kerb / verges / ..)Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

Even with all the sliders maxed to the right the dark footage I got on a trial run needs some light from headlights etc to see detail even after running it through a video editor I recently ahem 'purchased'
FWIW a cheap and easy editor to use is Picasa 3 from Google.

I am using the vented helmet mount, the problem is the vents on the helmet :?
To get a straight on vew I have to use the vents towards the back of the helmet (as I've now found) and I need to stop looking down so damn much... I got some good clear footage in the morning, but you can tell I'm out of shape at the moment... towards the end of the commute my head is down and there's lots of road footage again :oops:Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

The 960p setting is good as it takes a taller shot. ok you don't get 1080p but i don't like that due to the narrower field of view.
I've never made the mistake of getting loads of footage of the road, but have mounted it upside down so that i got the road at the top and the sky at the bottom lol0 -
Might try the 960p tomorrow. Got to pull the footage off the camera that adds to the pile of evidence for the prosecution about drivers of 3 letter German cars being c0cks.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

A couple of sped-up alternative commutes home.
First one, all on-road, MD80 mouunted on handlebars:

Second one using canals and greenways, MD80 on helmet:

I'm not entirely happy with the quality, the original AVI's look great, but converting them to a format small enough to upload seems to give them that blurry interlaced look. I've tried Divx, Xvid (what these are), and H264 on various settings and can't seem to improve things. The only thing I found was making every frame a keyframe reduced the artefactiness a lot.0 -
@Gaz You mentioned earlier in the week that you saw a chavvy looking fellow on a fancy road bike doing wheelies. Did you get this on camera? Would be interesting to see as it was most likely stolen.0

Aye... it will probably make it into my silly cyclists episode for this week.
i'll post an image later of him and the bike so you can see. if anyone can tell the model then that would be great.0 -

Nice one mate, would be interesting to spread the word about this (if it really is nicked of course).0 -
Todays attrocities from the mean streets of Brizzle
Blue cab passes me on the approach to a narrow bridge, single lane traffic each way and in doing so has to straddle the white line and forces me into the curb due to traffic coming the other way. I give a few expletives due to his driving which might explain his reaction but I do say louder the registration number and licence plate for the camera.
As we clear the roundabout he slows and says 'Do you want a good look, whats your number?'. He speeds up, then slows and starts giving hand signals so that I can see them through the back window. Not sure what they are meant to be. I mention Youtube and pass him and point out the camera when I'm in front of him.
I do have a friend on the licensing sub-comitee who may be interested in seeing this footage. Needless to say the rest of the ride was ridden on adrenaline.

Approaching some roadworks with traffic lights on red. As I get closer to the TLs they change to give me priority so off I pedal only to be confronted by a transit van from Daniel Contractors coming towards me seemingly having jumped the red light at their end of the roadworks.
Excuse the language.
